Thanks for that link Pam, lovely site. I particularly liked the pillowgans, and the christmas decorations are gorgeous, I have to make some.

  • :jHi all - been lurking and looking every night (maybe I should say morning as it is usually between 1 and 3 am I get on here - can't sleep much yet because of all the flashbacks and nightmares - never mind I do get ever such a lot of knitting and surfing done while everyone else in Jaap land is fast asleep ;0)

Elaine - great to see you on such good form again. I have subscriptions to Simply Knitting, Let's Knit and The Knitter - I love all of these and as has already been said - they do mount up into a 'stash' of their very own ;0) Simply Knitting and Let's Knit are both great for quick and easy patterns and both of these publications are very good to LH and do publish stories and info about us regularly. The Knitter is wonderful for those more complex advanced knits - the sort of things you would love to make but have never got round to it. I am building up quite a lot of - 'Oh I must make that' items out of it.

There are also some others around that come out either quarterly or twice a year and I have just subscribed to 4 of those as well (extravagant I know but as I don't smoke, drink or go out anywhere I reckon that I deserve a treat even if it is knitting mags and wool :0)

Probably if you ask at one of the group meetings up there you will find a member or two with copies of these in the bottom of their knitting bags and you could have a wee browse to see what you think? It does save lots subscribing and there are often giveaways sent out for new subscriptions. I got a lovely Rowan Stole Kit and a Rowan canvas bag when I subscribed to The Knitter :0)
  • :TMy favourite 'knitting' novel was The Yarn Harlot by Stephanie Pearl MacPhee - it is hilarious and so true - I loved when she was going on about the gremlins who hid all your tape measures or stitch holders - you know you have 6 of each but can you find just one when you need it????? That's me all over - I know I have loads of pens, scissors, sewing up needles, tape measures etc, etc, but whatever it is I am needing at that moment in time is nowhere to be seen! Definitely worth a read if you like reading as well as knitting :0)

morning all, just popping in to catch up on all posts, hope everyone is well.
BF stayed over last night which was lovely, but as he works shifts, the 5 am wake up alarm, well and truly woke me up. will have to get used to it, as we are planning on living together towards the end of this year.
i bought a mag the other day, that had free wool and needles, think it was called lets get crafting quick knits, and that was 7.99. i never really look at the price, and just throw them in the trolley with the rest of the shopping :o.
as lou said its my treat, i dont smoke, very rarely drink nowadays, we all need to have something to cheer us up.
yesterday a load of sock wool arrived (27 balls), thought bf would say somet about it, but as he saw big smile on my face as i opened the packages and felt the lovely soft wool, and bright colours, he said it dosent matter how much, cos if it makes me happy, he's happy :A.
hugs to those that need one

    Hi everyone.

ISOM - your blog isn't dull at all! I've had a good read and I love it.

Lou - I'm so sorry you are having nightmares and flashbacks; I hope you'e not losing too much restful sleep because of them. I know what you mean about getting lots of surfing done in the wee small hours, though!

Jean - here's another one who can't get to the open day!

DPixie - I'm glad you finally got on to that great site that Prfungi found for us. I had a good look at it last night and there's loads I want to make!

shaz - your BF sounds like the perfect man!

Well, I haven't read a knitting novel yet, so I shall have to try and find one (you never know, one of us might even write one!). I'd love to hear about all the books other people find, so please keep the titles coming!

Well, just need to find some buttons for my latest cardi for the baby and I shall have a parcel ready for when I come back to the UK. I have a huge button box here somewhere, which has still not been unpacked, so I shall have a look in the wonderful haberdashery I found the other day, and get some French ones instead. That will give me the perfect excuse to visit the shop again!

Well, it will be another morning of work, then knitting this afternoon, hopefully.

    Have a great day.

isom - was thinking of you, ceridwen and weezl last night whilst watching economy gastronomy - i think that the producers need to do their homework a bit better - it was not very good and i think that those lovely chefs have a lot to learn from the likes of you bunch.

oh well got up early to try to sort out our telephone in france and also crochet the log squares, i can be honest and admit that i have made a bit of a hash of the logs - perhaps i had either better start again or ... try something else.

off for a coffee and a shower - have a great day everyone.

DPixie - I made a comment about Economy Gastronomy on the OS Daily thread. I quite enjoyed the programme but I got the impression that they think we all eat ready meals and spend hundreds of pounds on food every week. I think they should have made an effort to find out about those of us who don't! The fact that they got the couple's food bill DOWN to £130 (from £220!) was amazing, wasn't it? We could all have got it down by at least another 50 %, I'm sure! Still, I shall follow it with interest if only to gasp in horror at how much is being wasted. Next week's couple apparently spend £17,000 a year on food:eek:! £326 per week:eek::eek::eek:!! It makes me feel very virtuous because I have emptied the fridge of leftovers for dinner tonight. The veggies may be a little past their best but they will taste fine with a bit of sauce on them!
