Hi peeps,
had to let you know - I've just spent 5 minutes over at PamsPals watching a Mum and Baby Hedgehog eating their muesli (?) supper - what a delight - the baby ate his fill then wandered off with an oat flake on his nose, Mum carried on eating til all the tasty bits had gone then strolled over to the shady bit of the garden - presumably slug hunting.
I'm sat here grinning like an idiot - what a nice little experience.
PS - Ppal has just been on the phone - apparently Daddy 'hog has just arrived - oops no grub left!Aaaawe
luv

Whats your Rav name by the way? I see K2Tog is already taken (shame)!
Mine's the same as here - surprising for such a commonplace monicker aint it!:rotfl:
I love it on there - I find the Patterns discussion board interesting & there are some really good boards for getting help with just about anything.
'bye for now

I'm k2t!!!4 on Ravelry. Have spent ages browsing and have done NO knitting or crochet - I'm hopeless! Think i'm just killing time til my shorties arrive which will of course mean buying more wool as other than baby colours and my peru top (WIP ) [STRIKE]I don't have [/STRIKE] oh, yes I do, I've just remembered my chocolate brown and Olive green Aldi wool. I'm thinking about trying this http://www.unicornbooks.com/pattern_RTargylevest-SQL3.asp with the olive green. Ahh, so many projects....
ETA: it's filtering out my Ravelry name - confused! It's the same as on here with a 74 at the end0 -

Ooo lovely pattern, its years (33 I think) since I did any intarsia work. I loved it then and have seen some fab patterns recently but I now prefer fancy stitches to lots of colours - I think its because of my platinum (ok silver grey) hair. I'm nearly 58 but my hair thinks its 80 (and has done for the last 15 years or so)
The pattern looks quite straightforward - remember to split your diamonds colour into 3 little balls, it saves having to carry threads across! Go on - have a go!
Where'd you order the little needles from, they seem to be taking ages? I hate waiting for stuff - I'm an "instant gratification" type.:rotfl:
Do you want to borrow mine?
luv
Pam:smileyheaPam.:hello:0 -
Thank you for the kind offer Pam, but I must be patient - they are coming from America so the needles will be better travelled than me!
I will give that a go and might do a larger men's one for LH if it goes OK. Haven't done much intarsia so may do some on some preemie stuff first for the practice.
ETA Just noticed it's on a chart too :eek:0 -
Good morning everyone.
Chalky - if you read this before you leave for your trip, I hope you have a good time and that the weather is good. I hear that the weekend forecast for the UK looks promising.
All this talk of Ravelry has reminded me that I must visit it! I joined ages ago (same name as here) and only call in occasionally. I must admit I've never done anything on there apart from scroll through the patterns but I'll take another look later on today.
Pam - I'm nearly 57 and my hair would be silver-grey if it wasn't for the assistance of L'Oreal! I'm due to have my first French hair cut tomorrow morning:eek: so I'm having to learn how to say 'just tidy up the ends, please'! The last hair cut I had was in March just before I left the UK; it's the longest I've ever left it without a trim. It's long anyway so I can just tie it back when it gets in the way, but I want to look a little more chic (in a sort of Parisien way!) when I go back home. I don't want everyone to think that, now that I live in rural France, I've gone all peasanty!
Well, I have another Friendship square on the go now. I've chosen a deep purple with a sage green - I wasn't sure of the combination when I started it but the colours look great together, and it's using up small left overs that I wouldn't use for baby stuff or anything.
I spoke to both my boys on Skype last night, which was great. I even carried on knitting while I was talking to them! DIL is really huge now, with exactly a week and a day until the due date, so it's all getting very exciting. She left work a couple of weeks ago and is looking more relaxed now that she can take it easier. The other grandchildren look great, too, and told me all about the other day in the park, when they and their Mum walked into a wasps's nest!:eek: DIL1 got stung once, DGS, once, and poor DGD - six times - all in her hair. DIL said that the wasps chased them back to the car. I could tell that she was still scared even talking about it, but she must have handled it really well because the children just talked about it as though it was an adventure! She had them both checked out at the walk-in clinic and no harm was done. It must have been terrifying, though.
Well, I suppose I'd better go and have a shower. I have to do some food shopping this morning, then I'll try and do a couple of hours of proper work, and some knitting this afternoon.
See you all later.

k2tog re: patterns on a graph, they are actually much easier than written patterns when you get used to it. I used to do a lot of very complicated intarsia and the best thing I found was a plastic ruler with a big elastic band round the length, pattern slipped behind ruler and moved up with each row.
Let's hope the weather behaves for chalky, it's raining here now. sigh.
mioliere love the sound of the buttons and the shop, you must have lots of willpower.
Pam a pale green fluffy dragon sounds delightful.
Hope all is well maytaurus.0 -
