Hi everyone.
Elaine - you are NOT being a wet blanket; we are only too pleased that you are back with us, and we are all here for you. It's still very early days for you and you will go through all sorts of emotions. I well remember my Mum getting angry with my Dad not long after he died, because she had been left with all the hard work of bringing up a young family; it's a natural part of grieving. It will get easier, I promise. As they say, time is a great healer and one day you'll be able to remember him with less sadness, hard though it is at the moment. I'm so pleased you have family around you, and grandchildren are great company, aren't they? I had to laugh when you said your DGS asked if his hat would be ready tomorrow - but I bet it will be! Take care, Elaine, and talk about your dear Jim as much as you want on here; he is a part of the Elaine we count as a good friend on here. We are so pleased to have you back. I just wish we all lived close enough to you to be able to give you lots of (((hugs))).
Well, I Skyped the pregnant side of the family last night, and she is looking amazing, especially now that she has given up work and has been resting up a bit more. They bought the cot at the weekend, so everything is ready for the appearance of the newest member of the family. We were talking about when we should go over; as DIL said, we don't want to go too early and find she is two weeks late and that we have to come back here before the baby is born! As if that would ever happen! I told her that once we are there, we are there for however long it takes; there's no way I would come back before it's born!
In my stash, I found some lovely soft wool in multi-coloured pastels so I am making one more cardi for the grandchild-to-be, then I shall get on with some preemie things, which will be the knitting I will do on the journey back to the UK, as well. On the journey back, I will get on with the Knit-a-Poem squares! I must also do some items for LH's latest challenges, too. Oh, I wish I had some more hands!!
Anyway, I've nearly finished the body of the cardi I am knitting - it's an easy pattern to follow, with the back and fronts knitted in one piece, and the sleeves knitted separately. I'm doing it all in garter stitch because the wool looks really textured that way and it makes it quicker to knit!
Well, I'd better get the shutters open and see if any more cats have decided that we are a soft touch!
Will see you all later.

good morning everyone - and especially to you elaine and isom. elaine, i cannot imagine what you are going through and would love to give you some wonderful words of advice - only i dont really have any. all i can offer is my support and a listening ear (or is that an eye - obviously a very special one if it can listen) and say that we are always here.
kathy, my pitiful update for this week is:
1 oxfam jumper
1 dog blanket (which never seemed to finish!!!!!!)
i am trying to do the oxfam jumpers a little bigger (to fit an older teenager) and in order to try to make them warm am doing them in hdc - which takes loads more time than doing the little ones in dc! anyway, i am loving it, and hopefully someone will love wearing them when they are finished.
the other good news is that i might have a couple of new recruits, but time will only tell ... totals could increase - how exciting.
have a lovely day all, i am off shortly to edinburgh to go and paint the inside of my aunties flat, hope to get two coats of paint on by sunday afternoon - so dont think there will be much time for crochet. i am sure that i will have withdrawal symptoms by the time i see you on monday.
d1 oxfam jumper, 19 hexagon jumpers and 1 beanie!0 -
Hi DPixie - can you point me in the direction of the crochet Oxfam jumper pattern, please? And please do not call your update 'pitiful', because it certainly is not. Every single item counts and will help someone (or some pet!) in need. Good luck on the recruiting front. My Mum hopes to rejoin us soon but, as she has not long moved house, and had illness and other mishaps to contend with (including getting lost on the ten minute journey between her house and my sister's several times, bless her!) she is still settling in. At one time, she was right outside my sister's house, asking someone for directions to it! My sister could see her from the front room window and had to go out and rescue the poor passer-by she had waylaid!
Anyway, see you all later.

Morning all,
Elaine, please don't think your a wet blanket I'm sure everyone on here would offer their shoulder for you to cry on. Off load as much as you want we'll all listen and offer support even if only through words on the screen.
Mioliere, I can feel your excitement through the screen it's very contagious. Kitten sounds adorable, I didn't mean for my story to sound so sad I named her dusty and she brought such joy to me I just wish I'd met her sooner but I'm glad that her last few weeks were happy and more comfortable, I couldn't bear the thought of her being left in a dirty old shed.
In search of me- my cat is a male tabby and he is skinny, always has been my dad says he's a rat cat. He is so miserable he will sit on my lap purring and then his eyes go black and pounces on my arm sinking his teeth in(which is nice!) If you don't let him sit on your lap he turns his back to you and sulks.
Enough about the cats, I have just finished knitting a toy bride and am going to start on the groom today, a little present for my sil who's getting married this weekend. Then I will start on some more preemie items, I have invested in a circular needle and am going to attempt a hat for dh, he has trouble getting hats as his head is so big.
Right I've waffled too much, Have good days all.x:jWooligans Totals 2010:

Good morning ladies - Elaine its lovely to see you on here dont think you should not talk - thats what we are all here for to support each other xx ooo yes black splodges just what her Mum wants Im sure (bless her) - DS is just the same keeps requesting hats, toys etc and expecting them yesterday ......and the hedgies keep disappearing into his room as fast as I can knit them!!!. like kathy said its just a shame we dont all live nearby, a hug and to give you a hand would be the first things on our list! - take good care its lovely to have you back xx
I thought I would ask if you think I need 'help' - last night/early hours I could not sleep - very bad acid (too much info there!) so DH is snoring I have a crime programme on cant put the light on (DH would moan chronic)- so still laying down I reach over get my knitting and away I go - IN THE DARK - feeling for the stitches - finished off the bunting (it looks better than one ive done in the day HA HA) - felt sleepy and took my mind off tummy trouble - I THINK I NEED HELP ?????
