Chalky - thanks for the instructions for the name-bunting. I've printed them off. I shall definitely make some for my grandchildren (luckily they have short names - Sam and Lucy!). The grandchild-on-the-way will be called Summer if it's a girl (unless they change their mind when the time comes!) and Undecided-as-Yet if it's a boy! Did you make the pattern up yourself? I'm really impressed with it. I'm tempted to make some for my nephews and nieces, too, but there are so many of them!
I've never liked sewing because I've never been any good at it! My Mum is going to give me her old sewing machine. She's just had it serviced but has bought herself a new one, so thinks it will 'do me good' to have her old one. I must admit, I am looking forward to having one. I have loads of fabric because I can't resist buying it, mostly from charity shops. We have a wonderful fabric shop nearby so it will give me an excuse to visit it more often if I have a sewing machine. Both my Mum and my sister are wonderful at sewing - I wish I was!
As our lovely Chalky has said - if anyone is lurking, please please do join us here. You can see what a lovely feeling this thread has; being a part of it has made such a difference to me and my life, even though I don't manage to knit as much as I would like. Since I moved to France in March this year, it has been a real lifeline, and I would be lost without all my friends on here. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner to knitting, or a real advanced pro, everyone is welcome, and every item made will find a good home. We have helped so many good causes and we have a lot of fun, too. Please, don't be shy - come and join us! You'll find the warmest of welcomes, and help and support all the way.

Well it has not stopped pouring it down here--- So of course I had to keep myself amused so here is the latest update on the Memory blanket. It is looking so lovely thanks to all your donations
So please don't think it is too late to join in -- the more squares the merrier I will just keep making blankets in memory of Jim. To anybody who is worried they cant do the log pattern plain knitting is just fine. I just nudge them all into place.
So thanks for the squares that arrived today and I will enjoy getting the new ones on their way
Hope you are all having good daysTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi Chalky - what a lovely photo! I love the combination of colours that everyone has chosen. Is that mine at the right hand side of the second row from the top? I have to ask in case someone else has used the same colours! I shall print the photo off because I forgot to take a photo before I posted the squares to you. Thank you so much for all the sewing up. You are working wonders with all the contributions.

Work is hard at the moment, I'm hormonal, crawling to my holiday on 17th and its my 40th on 30th aug so feel some sadness/panic as still single (& no signs of being otherwise) and feels clock has well and truely tocked......knitting going wrong is just another thing at the moment which is why I will stick to easy peasy for now - I just feel the need something to go right IYKWIM - even if its only a simple knitted muffin? Sorry didnt mean to offload but just wanted to explain why I feel quite pathetic at the moment but promise I didnt take offense at what either of you said! I've booked Friday off and am seeing my cousin who loves me which will make me feel better!
