    Hi everyone.

Elaine - once again, I want to say how good it is to have you back. You really have been missed SOOOO much. Reading Lou's posts from Loving Hands has brought tears to my eyes; what a lovely gesture to dedicate the LH recipe book in your DH's memory. I must confess, I haven't caught up with the LH challenges - I sometimes have difficulty getting logged onto LH - one day I can, the next I can't. I'll have another go today.

Well, I'm still ploughing through DH's accounts. I thought I could keep at them until they were finished but I've ended up deciding that I'll do two hours a day, otherwise I lose concentration.

I should be home all day today apart from posting some letters; the nearest post box is a short drive away. I posted some letters there yesterday and, for the first time since I arrived here, I started driving back on the wrong side of the road! It was the third car coming at me - slowly, fortunately - on 'my' side of the road, that made me realise the mistake was mine! I've been told it's an easy mistake to make but not one I want to make again.

We overslept again today; have no idea why. My DS2 phoned early this morning; he only wanted to ask me for a particular phone number but, of course, I thought he was phoning to say that DIL2 had had the baby! She has just over two weeks to go so I'm half expecting the call! He did reassure me as as soon as I answered the phone that he wasn't phoning about the baby, but it still made my heart race! It also made me realise that I'm not as ready as I should be, should we get the call before we sail back.

Well, I must get my chores done; I need to get a bread and a pudding made, do my stint on the accounts and then I must catch up with the Loving Hands challenges. I just have one sleeve to set in, and the buttons (lovely little teddy bear ones) to sew onto the cardie I've made for the baby, then I will make a quick hat and booties to go with it, and then I hope to concentrate on Preemies and Loving Hands. A bit later in the year, I will make some of the name-buntings for the grandchildren (pinching Chalky's excellent idea - see photo on Wooligans!) and some skittles - using one of the patterns Pam posted a link to - as well as lots of other things for Christmas pressies. I wish I could grow another set of hands! Don't we all?!

Well, I'd better get on. Will see you all later. I do hope the weather improves for you all. I've just seen a rather grim forecast on the TV. I won't tell you what it's like here.

:wave:Elaine - it is sooo good to see you back, you have been in our thoughts and prayers and we have missed you.

LH - hi Lou, I love the new challenges there's something for everyone. I have started a mans hat and it seems to be working out ok, but it is in cream aran so not sure thats a good idea :rotfl:

Kathy - I am getting worried about you, oversleeping, driving on the wrong side of the road  whatever next, please try and slow down,

:AWhat a lovely thought from the L/H ladies to dedicate their cookery book in memory of Elaine's Jim, It never ceases to amaze me how many lovely kind, caring and thoughtful people there are in this crazy world of ours :A

  • Morning all - Chalky - don't worry about the address I have found it while sorting through the office (remember the cute wee card you made for me with the frog and butterfly on front when my mum was in hospital? Your address was written inside :0)

Glad everyone is hapopy with the new challenges

Plodding on here with emptying this office and more boxes packed and ready to ship off to those who need them - never a dull moment - must admit though the prospect of having the office finally decorated and all grown up makes me so excited. DH is in the loft as we speak finishing flooring and clearing it so I can use the shelves he is putting up there to store things we don't need all the time and then when he is done with that I have to have office ready so he can decorate - exciting isn't it :0)

Elaine hope you are feeling fine this morning - don't forget to pop into the LH forum and say hi very soon xx

Kathy - stop having those 'senior moments' you don't want to be having an accident now do you!

Diana - I will post the wool today and get a box together with towels etc to send asap :0)

Hi all. Lou - definitely a senior moment! I am happy to say that I have just got back from the post box and I remembered to drive on the right side of the road this time! You must be so excited about having a grown-up office. Can't wait to hear you talk about it!

Pippa - I can understand the driving on the wrong side bit; it's the oversleeping I can't! It's so unlike me. I hate it because I feel as if half the day has gone once I get myself organised. Half the reason is because I lie awake for ages trying to get to sleep and it's when I start thinking about all the things I have to do - they all flood into my mind! The other reason is that we have to keep the shutters closed in the bedroom because we are still sleeping downstairs. It makes it seem like the middle of the night when I wake up. Once we have moved upstairs, it will be easier because I will leave the shutters open. The French really do shut themselves up at night - the houses all look like shipping containers with the shutters closed. They don't have any windows open at night which I just can't understand. I have perfected a way of closing the shutters but leaving the window open; because the shutters are wooden slats, they have enough gaps in them to let some fresh air in. Otherwise, I'm sure we'd suck all the air out of the room overnight!

Anyway, I shall go and take a look at Loving Hands right now, then do some more accounts (yawn, yawn), then take the afternoon off.

The breadmaker has just beeped so I'll sort that out, then go on to Loving Hands.

    See you all later.

thanks Lou, i should learn to be more patient it cost me £5.40 to buy two balls of wool for the letter square because i wasnt sure if you got my pm and i was itching to get started:eek:. not very MSE of me at all i hope martin doesn't see this:o. ill use the wool you are sending to knit them a spare blank as i know they need quite a few of those. i sent Rebecka an email yesterday saying i'd finished my letter square but was holding on to it in the hope of getting a couple of blank ones done to post off with it.

Good morning to one and all--- my goodness its yuk here !!!! I actually don't mind but feel so much for all thepeople with littlies to entertain especially if they are camping etc. !

Gentle thoughts to all those who would like one and a special loving thought for Elaine. I am still so pleased that you felt strong enough to join us. Slowly, very slowly I am sure. Hug anyway.

Shelley-- The name bunting is really easy.

Just knit as many squares as the length of the letters for the name. I used garter stitch.
A little bit down from the top of each square make 3 or 4 holes for the wool string to hang it by.
Cut the letters out of felt and sew them on.
    Add buttons to decorate.
Make the wool string ( take quadruple the length of wool that you need . Fold in half and hook the looped end over something. Twist and twist the wool holding the 2 loose ends until it kinds of folds up on itself and the taking the loop off wherever you have hooked it put the looped end and the folded end together and smooth it out and you will have a twisted piece of wool string. Gosh I hope you understand that but it really is easy. Just dont let go of the loose ends or it will unravle. Tie the ends in a knot and thread the wool through the holes at the top of the squares and Voila'.

If you need any more help please ask again or looking at the picture on the Wooligans will help
Hope your little one isn't called Alexandra! or Constantine !!

Did a little more sewing of the Memory Blanket. Doh is getting really interested . Thank you so much for all the squares they are fitting in beautifully. Many hands do make light work

I think the challenges on Loving Hands are absolutely great this time. There really is something for everyone. I knitted some juggling balls but wish I was near Jean so that she could use her "sweat shop" to make the little bags. I used to love sewing but hate it now !! Strange

Kathy -- When you hear about your dear little grandchild you wil be driving on air so it won't matter which side you are on !!

dpixie- So glad you are enjoying being part of this merry band. Anyone else who has been lurking and would like to join us please do. The lovely thing is it doesn't matter if you can knit well, slip a stitch or spend your time making hedgehogs !!! all is welcome

Jean -- How about knitting a little horse !!

Have good days everyone and thanks again for all the little parcels
Try and do a good deed every day.
