Elaine aww lovely to hear from you...you have been in our thoughts and prayers and hope that youve felt that in the moments of despair...
Lol re the pattern! Not sure if youve got to the shawl disaster but looking at your description sounds like I was Yo'ing all on my own every time I added a bead and whatcha know it WAS endless! I love the lacey patterns but will need someone to show me...never fear I will get there...just need to build up a bit of confidence with an easy "yeah I CAN knit" basic pattern!! Am off to cast on cupcake pattern (nice n easy from knitting mag) for friend who needs a hug...
Meant to say am happy to share if anyone interested to see how to knit up any of the patterns in the little knits book (piccies posted earlier in the week) but fear its not generally for a beginner but sommat to aim for!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! ISOM
Honestly this is a REALLY easy pattern. Maybe if you try doing a wee bit in ordinary double knit yarn with 4mm needles, rather than starting with your mohair, you`ll see how it comes up.
Reading my post back, it sounded as if I was using my `explaining things to a five year old` voice.....sorry, didn`t mean it to sound that way- I just like to try to encourage inexperienced knitters to spread their wings a bit and take the plunge into something different, and very often all it takes is `translating` technical terms into plain English.
Happy knitting whatever you undertake.

ISOM so sorry if I upset you, I was trying to cheer you up ((hugs))
A really easy pattern to use for just about anything is this:
cast on loosely you need multiples of 6 stitches so for a scarf I'd try 48.
Row 1: *k3,p3* to end
Row 2: *k1, p1* to end
repeat rows 1 & 2 until length you need. cast off loosely.
My mate PamsPal has just knitted a baby blanket using this pattern and it turned out lovely.
Elaine - welcome back:j

Oh, what a lovely surprise.
Just popping in before bedtime and it is SOOOOO lovely to see you posting Elaine. It doesn't matter if you just pop in when you are feeling strong and lurk when things are difficult all our loving thoughts are with you and your family.
Ok I will update sewing progress in the morning.
Night, night everyone. Sleep as well as possible !Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Oh Elaine - how wonderful to see you posting on here p just had to sign in and say welcome back - all of us at Loving Hands have missed you so much since you have been away from us - I know Mag and Alana will be so delighted the minute you feel strong enough to go back to the Aberdeen and Shire groups and help them out again. Don't know if you have been lurking over on LH site yet but the ladies are all asking for you and have decided it would be lovely to dedicate the LH Recipe Book in memory of your DH - they hope you will feel up to collating and sorting out recipes so we can have it on sale in time for Christmas but if not they totally understand - there is always Easter xx
God Bless - and please pop in to the LH forum and let the girls know you are there - they would all be thrilled to hear from you xxx0 -
Chalky can you pm me at LH with your postal addie I have some memory and friendship squares ready to send to you and with trying to get this office emptied in time for DH to decorate it later in the week I can't lay my hands on my membership book :0) We have decidee to post out our parcels to the charities weekly as soon as the boxes are filled I will be arranging uplift - don't want to get drowned under donations again :0)
Our new challenges seem to have gone down well with all the members - I do worry every time in case I list something that everyone just hates (the sands blankets have been the biggest bone of contention with a lot of the members since we started doing challenges - some members have loved doing them but to a lot of them it was such a chore - God Bless everyone who persevered and made sure they finished even just one - the lady from Sands has told us that 17 babies die in the UK every week so they do need these blankets all the time).0 -
Hi Elaine - it's great to have you back in whatever mode you feel like! And wonderful to have someone explain stuff when you're mystified - poor Pam has been answering my recent endless queries!:o
Be kind to yourself and we're all here (allbeit in a limited remote capacity) if we can do anything for you.0
