Well what a lovely hour I have just spent -- just placing and re- arranging the squares that have arrived so far. I have just sewn 3 together and they look lovely and the 1 bonus is because they are 15 ins they soon will reach the 6' x 4' suggested by Lou--- You never know we may be able to send more than 1 in memory of Jim.

Please don't worry about the mixtures of styles, wool etc because they all blend together beautifully.

I will take some pictures as it progresses but thanks again for all your efforts

    Hi everyone.

Chalky - I can't wait to see some photos of the squares! Mine will be posted this morning and be with you soon, hopefully. It's such a wonderful thought - all of us making pieces that will be joined together to make something special and unique that will last for years and years. I'm proud to be a part of it. Thank you for thinking of it and for suggesting that particular pattern. AND for doing all the sewing up!!

Shelley - glad you are feeling better.

    Elaine - (((hugs))) to you.

Maytaurus - I hope you have a good day today.

Well, I messed up a sleeve on the cardi I'm making for my grandchild-to-be, so I had to start again. I did too many increases. I think I'm trying to get too much done and I'm panicking about getting things ready to take back to the UK in a couple of weeks. It's because I have to get DH's end-of-trading accounts done, too, and they are so boring compared to knitting! My eyes keep glazing over! I'm going to concentrate on them on Monday and try and get them completed. I have to do them so that we can take them to the accountant personally - if I leave it, we'll have to post them from here and it will cost a small fortune! I'm so glad it's the last lot I'll have to do. Here, DH is working for someone else and that someone else will have to do the accounts!

Anyway, this morning I am helping a friend do a holiday home changeover - in return for a steak lunch and a few pennies for my wool fund! This afternoon we are buying some flooring for our downstairs bathroom which DH will fit tomorrow - another bit of progress in the house. He's getting quite a lot of work at the moment, which is great. I'm also going to try and get my food shopping done today, too, but will see what time we have.

We Skyped DS2 and DIL last night; she is so heavily pregnant now with just three weeks to go! The midwife has said she thinks the baby is about 7lbs already, so we are expecting quite a big one. My poor DIL is only tiny - 5'1" - so I hope she copes. She's looking well but has some of water retention. She finished work yesterday and is now officially on maternity leave. I'm glad she's finished - she's a science teacher and there's swine flu in the school at the moment, so the sooner she was out of there, the better.

Anyway, I'd better go and have a shower. I won't get a chance to knit until this evening, but I'm looking forward to it already!

    Have a great day, everyone.

NIGHTMARE---DMIL has fallen and so is off to hospital in an anbulance so BBQ could be a verys strange event -- What a shame as family are down all the way from Aberdeen and London and everybody was looking forward to a very chilled time !!
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • Hi all

Chalky - hope DMIL is okay and that the bbq goes smoothly.

Just a quick fly by really to check how we all are.
I've had a bsy week, mainly trying to sort stuff for holiday (how come a 10 month old needs twice as much stuff as everyone else!!!), and I've had a huge tidy of my wardrobe, which resulted in 2 binbags full of things being freecycled!

Have also managed to get some knitting in, some more buntings and vent hats, and I will parcel these off to Shelley before we go, AND post my totals too!

DH and DS have just gone birthday present shopping (ssh....it's my birthday today), as the crochet hooks DH ordered haven't come yet! I've got the idiot's guide to crochet (as I am determined to crack this one) now so that might help. futile attempts have already been made (and documented on here I think), but I simply HAVE to get it sorted! I can manage the chains, but that's all for the moment.

Got a lovely card from DS and DD and a little keepsake card to put in my purse called "A Little Hug" which will lift me in down times. Bless, made me cry. I just wish Mum was here to share my special day, but I know she's looking down on me and looking after all of us.

hark at me - getting all sad.

The sun is shining, I have a lovely DS, DD and DH, fab grandma, Dad, brothers and sister, parents in law, BIL and SIL, neices and nephews - and wonderful friends (you lot included!) and for that I am truly blessed, honoured and v v thankful!

    With love to everyone,

    Dawn xx

chalky - sorry to hear about your MIL - hope everything is ok

Im going to repeat everyone elses thoughts - this is a lovely thread - an extension of your family via the wires - the support and encouragement is priceless

Well we looked at another house this morning (already thinking of moving again.....) we thought we could cope with no garden BUT we cant - our house now is a converted chapel all lovely and modern but it is not really a house for an 8 year old - my mum and dad who have not seen for some months are talking about doing their first car boot next week here (I hope they do come I miss them no end) we have a good car boot down the road (not much wool though hmmmmmmmm) only trouble is mum is selling a lot of her card making bits I could end up buying it from her ha ha - anyway this week i will be digging out the cupboards so we can do a stall too - hubby watching F1 qualifying - then might suggest a walk

well thats my day and im waffling - thinking of you all - shelley glad to see you better and back with us - love to Elaine and maytaurus (thinking of you both) insearchofme - pleased you got a bargain!!

catch up soon - Jaqui xxx
