Purple Teddy Bear - thank you so much for the Baker boy hat patterns - they're all great so I have the task of deciding which one to make! Thanks for taking the trouble to look for them.

Good to see you back Chalky. I intend to post my squares soon - they are waiting in an envelope all addressed and waiting for me to get my act together! Have heard quite a few people saying the Lion King is fantastic - glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely to hear about all the new little "crawlies" - I remember that stage fondly as well as the running scoop lift when they power off down the hall with you chasing.
Pam my shortie needle is 16" - I didn't realise it was possible to get 9s. I am loving it so far - doing the operation Xmas child simple hat pattern for DS2 and the ribbing on the bottom of it is so neat I am astounded. I think I will have to transfer it to dpns when the decreases come in so will probably be cursing then! I might look for 9s for some socks as have only done 1 pair of socks before on 2 needles which was Ok but not the seamless (literally!) garments I envisaged. I really want to do some socks for Xmas so must give it a go. Had a look at the magic loop link that you kindly posted. I had heard of magic loop but had no idea what it was - might give that a try when I can get my head round it! Anyone else on here used magic loop?
Know what you mean about the SANDS blankets Mrs MP - a big PHEW! when you get them finished!
Hope you are feeling better Shelley.

Good morning everybody-- This is not my usual order in the !!!! crowing position but the sun was shining through the curtains. Tempting for a moment but it has bid a hasty retreat now !!

DSIL and her husband are visiting DMIL who lives in the same village as us so we shall be busy over the next 10 days or so doing some entertaining as DMIL is a bit frail and finds cooking for us all a bit much.

On the knitting fron I am just mopping up and waiting for a few more squares to arrive so that I can begin sewing. Thanks for all the requests for address.

I hope everyone is feeling Ok this morning. Shelley I do hope things are better for you. Big hug for Maytaurus as I think your plate is often full. Your posts have become a barometer of how life is for you -- and we all love it when you are fully functional with your delightful posts. Kathy, I think you must be getting excited about your forthcoming grandchild !!

A big thanks to everyone who searches and posts links etc for patterns I love looking at them all. I see great big projects and think "Oh Yes " and then remeber I have the attention span of ---- maybe a hedgehog and whoops another 1 jumps off the needles!!!

Gentle thoughts to all who need one especially Elaine. Congratulations to all those celebrating. Have special days
Try and do a good deed every day.

Good morning Chalky - you beat me to it! I've just spent an hour topping and tailing three kilos of runner beans that DH was given yesterday; it was a job I was dreading, so I thought I'd get it done out of the way. They're blanching right now, and I will freeze them later, saving enough to go with tonight's dinner. A job well done and didn't take quite as long as I expected.

My squares are ready and will be posted to you on Saturday. The post here, so far, has been very good (one of the few things the French can do properly!), so I'm hoping they'll be with you by mid-week. I hope they're good enough!

I'm definitely getting excited about the new grandchild! Still don't know when to plan our trip back to the UK. The baby is due on 15th but what baby ever arrives on time? I think we'll probably go over some time during the second week of August (unless the baby comes early!). We are staying with friends until the 18th, when we'll be 'evicted' because their daughter is getting married and they have family coming to stay. We've been invited to the wedding so will probably book a couple of days in a hotel. We are also planning to go back to my home town of Weston-super-Mare - my Mum has just moved back there and we want to see her, and other family who live there, before we come back here. So, it's going to be busy, and a bit chaotic, but I can't wait to see everyone. It's been over four months since I've cuddled my children, grandchildren and Mum!!

I agree with you, Chalky, about Maytaurus; her posts are great. It's such a shame that she cannot post more often.

Shelley - I hope you are on the mend now.

I love the patterns that everyone finds. You only have to ask, and someone will come along with the perfect pattern. The downside, of course, is that you want to knit everything you see, and my head buzzes with all the things I want to make!

Anyway, I'd better get some work done, then I can treat myself to the afternoon off for knitting.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    Morning everyone,

Good to see you back Chalky, glad you had a good time. I love the lion king it's one of ds1's favourite films. We're off to see the walking with dinosaurs show on saturday as a treat for the kids they don't know yet so hoping it will be a nice surprise.

Pam - I like the boyfriend hat pattern too, I think I'll invest in a circular needle and see how I get on with it. The pattern seems pretty straight forward. These dpn's sound a nightmare, I'm sure I'd get in a tangle with 4 or 5 needles but my curiosity to have a go is niggling at me.

Well must get on, have a good day all.

    Elaine thinking of you

    Maytaurus hope you are well

got a couple of my yellow school squares done last night, im almost half way there with the knitting part:T

had an happy accident yesterday when we were in the next town i remembered the craft shop had a sign saying "wool coming soon" in the window last time i was up there. so i nipped up for a look, DK and baby DK in beautiful colours £1 for a 100gm ball and she had the most beautiful chunky toned wools in 200gm balls for £3.99 spent ages in there she told me she orders every week and even got all the shade and wool charts out to show me the stock she can get. i think i know where ill be while DH is giving blood on saturday;) i spent last night pawing through my patterns to look for ladies cardigans to do on 6mm needles. Ive fiound a cardigan pattern that uses 5 1/2 MM needles do you think i dare risk using the wool?

found a few links for free patterns while i was looking round that im not sure if we have yet

Hi Mrs MP - thanks for the links, love the purplesage site, it has just what I needed - some lovely men's scarves patterns - I need 3 for xmas gifts. I really like the herringbone one, will definitely do at least one of those.

It sounds like your school blanket project is coming along nicely, can't wait to see some pics.
Re your cardi - 5.5 or 6mm needles - can only suggest doing :eek:a tension square:eek: to see how close you are to the pattern, then perhaps you could do a size smaller or larger than you need.

I have a couple of chunky cardi patts saved, I'll see if I can find the links....
