morning everyone. hope that you are all okay and not suffering too much! as i sit here and read my mails and look at this threat, i really am grateful for what i have - its not much, but i do have my health and a nice warm home and some money to buy lovely discounted yarns when they are available. most of all, i am grateful that i have such a warm, kind and knowledgeable bunch of people that i can turn to when my addiction (crochet) becomes too much for my DH.

oh well - enough of that, i have things to do and presents to buy (its his birthday in a few days) as he doesn't want me to crochet him anything. strange how he really dislikes crochet, but was happy with a felted blanket that his sister made for him ... perhaps its the quality of my crochet ... no, even i can see its not too bad.

have a lovely day everyone, and maytaurus, we are missing you, so if you are lurking, we are thinking of you.

    Hi everyone.

DPixie - what lovely words! The people on this thread are wonderful, aren't they? On the other thing you mentioned, my DH used to get 'neglected husband syndrome' when I sat down to knit or crochet, so perhaps your DH is the same? It's not what you crochet; it might be the fact that you crochet, if you see what I mean?! I told mine that it was part of me, and he knew I loved to knit and crochet before he married me! So there! He's got used to it now, especially as it's been very money-saving in terms of making presents for birthdays and Christmas - he doesn't object to that bit, and will actually compliment me on some of the things I make. The thing is, I can't just sit down and do nothing, and knitting and crochet is so productive and relaxing - I can't give it up!

K2tog - yes, very sad and shocking news about MJ. A tragic end to a strangely tragic life.

Well, I hope Maytaurus is well - I know we all miss her when she doesn't post. If you're there, Maytaurus, please let us know you are OK.

Well, I have some work to do, then I shall spend a couple of hours this afternoon crocheting.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Morning all,

I hope everyone is having lovely weather, It's very hot here. I went with my sons school on a trip to the local zoo on wednesday and it was roasting, we fed the giraffes which they all loved and my ds2 went and stroked this huge snake, he loved it so much he went back to it four times. It was shedding it's skin and we had a bit for a souvenir.

Shelley - Hope you feel better soon, ((big Hugs)), I shall sort out my stuff and get a parcel off to you soon.:happyhear

Mrs MP - I hope your roger is better soon, it's such a worry isn't it?:happyhear

Maytaurus - Hope you feel up to posting soon, we do miss you. Sending you positive thoughts.:happyhear

Well I haven't done much knitting this week, I've almost finished lc's crib pattern, it's ok I think. I've been crocheting a summer cardi for myself which is nearly finished, I think I'll make some small bits after that.

    Have a good day all.:D

Hi Lysasparkles - a warm welcome to you, thanks for your kind words, and well done on learning to knit! Take a look at the very first post on this thread; it has all the info and details about what we do. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on here. There is always someone around to help. I update once a week, usually on a Monday, so don't forget to tally your items and I'll add you to the update.

Shezmit that's lovely. My lost angel would have been 19 in march, my boys are 40 so she wasn't planned,(I'm sure it was a girl), but oh I really wanted her.

Well I have finished 5 'mock cable' blankets in different colours - and got 5 balls of dk wool from Wilkinsons to do some more! Big enough for premature babies I think.

Where is the best place to send them please? Someone on here or Loving Hands?

Might be a while before I get to do the second batch as I now have a 3 ply crochet shawl on the go for a friend who is expecting her first baby in September!

And thank you very much to k2tog who PM'd me a crochet blanket pattern - that will be quicker than knitting for me!
