Thankyou so much for your big parcel, i am bit annoyed with the postie as he left it outside when i was out so i am going to have a word with them and kick some bums:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thankyou so much for the 5ps aswell
My hand is getting better and my crocheted blanket is getting bigger LOL, been busy this week, went on a school trip on tuesday which was lots of fun playing in the wood making a hideaway with logs, I had all the kids laughing when i fell backwards on to bum falling over a tree trunk and hurt all my left arm and shoulder,
parcels coming in nicely now and i am making a parcel up tonight for my mom to take with her when she takes dad in for a outpatient on friday as it will save on postage :T
right i will speak to you all later

Thanks for letting me know it got there. Your school trip sounds like fun - apart from the falling over!
In between preemie stuff and my second (I must be mad) SANDS blanket, I am still trying to knit a summery cardi thing. I really need some help/advice because it is driving me nuts and I don't really know what is going wrong. I am knitting with sirdar blur (acrylic/mohair mix) and doing what should be a simple 3x3 rib. When I change from the 3k to the 3p, there is a loopy gap between the stitches and it looks pants. Have ripped it out 3 times so far and trying to knit ultra tight, and it is slightly better but hard to knit. Is is because the wool is fluffy and isn't moving against itself. Anyone have any bright ideas or tips? It's a gorgeous pattern so I am loath to give up on it if I can work around getting loopy gappy bits. Grrrrrr! Am going to do some easy blanket to calm down before bed! Any ideas gratefully received :A

a couple of things might help - could you bear to try them on a test piece?
First - stop trying to knit it tight - this will make the loopy bit more obvious! Part of the answer could be to knit looser - the more relaxed you knit the less the loopy bit shows!
Second - after you knit the 2nd of 3 stitches give an extra tug on the yarn! - I know it sounds daft but I picked up that tip from the Ravelry forums .
I have used mohair wool quite a lot and its definitely better with a relaxed stitch - for my winter throw I'm using old fashioned mohair which has quite a thin core on 6mm needles
I hope this is of some use! if not let us know & I'll try & find another answer.
Good luck
luv

Thank you Pam, I will try that tomorrow and hope the wool doesn't keep shedding with all the ripping out! I love the wool but am finding it a pain to knit with. Nearly succumbed to Readicut's special offer on it but haven't. Perhaps I'd better see if i can get to the end of one project with it before stash boosting with more of it - but it is gorgeous :rotfl:. I've had it ages because I started a very basic top from a pattern in a knitting partwork that I started getting ages ago (to learn properly rather than just make up what I didn't undestand) and then halfway through (with just a "few" mistakes) decided I didn't like the pattern anyway - I'm hopeless! I still have a ton of wool from the knit a square a week for your shaker stye throw that was included with it - drives DH mad that I haven't finished the throw and that the wool is still everywhere! I think it may be the thought of sewing it all together when it's done that is putting me off!0

Hi all.
K2tog - you sound really desperate! With the squares, why not try sewing each one to the last one as soon as you've knitted it? The chore of sewing loads of them together in one go must be daunting! Also, maybe try crocheting them together with a thinnish crochet hook? I would also like to know what the squares are like, 'cos I'm a nosy knitter! With the Sirdar Blur, Prfungi's advice is great - it really is worth doing a test piece (I know we all hate them!), and tugging on the yarn after the second stitch. Another tip is to work the stitches from the other side of the loop, if you get my meaning. Good luck - I know how frustrating these things are!
Shez - hope you're not too sore this morning!
Maytaurus - hope you are well today?
I started a crochet cardi last night that looks really easy; I shall see how it ends up before recommending the pattern!
Gorgeous start to the morning here - hope it is wherever you all are!
