Hi dpixie ooooh how I feel for you, I know just what you mean I have been asked to knit a blanket for a friends expected grandchild (type unknown) “anything you like” was said – OK said I, quite pleased to have been asked, rooted in my stash and sorted a lovely lavender, some palest green and some white, really pleased with my choices I found a nice (and easy) reversible ripple pattern knitted in panels.
Started with the lavender for the main panel, got about halfway through the panel, really enjoying knitting it, met friend for coffee & thought I’d show her the progress – big mistake Oh – its blue says she, obviously not impressed…. erm no its lavender …derailed me its now in a bag at the bottom of my pile of “stuff”
So I now don’t know what to choose – gone off the pattern, think I’ve looked at every blanket pattern on t’internet can’t find one – tried 3 other ones so far & ripped them out. I don’t like any of me colours – I don’t seem to be able to settle with any of my many and varied projects for thinking about this blessed blanket!
Having said that, I’ve casted on a winter cardi for Mum, done a baby jacket, started a sock (hmmm not sure) knitted a bookmark with lovely arrowhead pattern that I’ll file away – would make a fantastic edging for an afghan!
All in all - in full fidget mode - think I must need some chocolate, 'n' cake, 'n' cookies, 'n' ice cream......
Hugs to all & positive vibes for ailing/recovering family & friends!

Oh Lucie - what a beautiful couple. You must have been very proud and how lucky with the weather.
Pam, I know what you mean when you can't get into anything because you know there is something lurking at the bottom of the knitting pile that you should be doing. I always feel better when I've bitten the bullet though - it's like tidying a cupboard :rotfl:
Hope everyone is feeling OK today x0 -
hi all, been feeling bit down and havent knitted a great deal, after unpulling a top i was making for myself, it was turning out too big, then i unpulled a jumper i was making for myself, cos that was turning out too small.
ds1 in court tommorrow, and i'm not looking forward to it, and the cause of my low mood.
to cheer me up bf and i are going to coast tommorrow night when things are sorted, and spending a couple nights there, so that'll be a nice break, and a positive to look forward to.
lucie, you must be so proud, a lovely couple, the photo's are great, thanks for sharing.
i love the jean greenhowe patterns, i have a few, and kathy emailed me an octopus one that i've started on, now.
if nobody else reuests the topsy turvey doll pattern, please may i be considered for it, i will of course pay postage costs.
off to watch holby city now, then maybe knit a little later, something simple lol
hugs for all that want or need one
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
pam i know exactly how you feel - cause i feel just like that. i have started a few other projects, but i keep looking at kemps to see if there is something else that i can use for the ripple pattern. it needs to be cotton rich, it looks best in a dk weight and i just cannot find the right colours. there are loads of colours out there, but just not the right ones for someones baby. i have decided i will phone kemps and ask when their next shipment is coming in and also phone my friend who is going to find out the babys sex on friday and then make my decision. it has stopped me sleeping the last 2 nights! so very frustrating that i cant focus on anything else.
oh well, i suppose it keeps me thinking and using those brain cells, so i should be grateful!

dpixie have you considered the Patons Washed Haze DK - I've bought loads of the aran weight - its lovely, knits beautifully, soft cottony really comfy feeling - I'm doing lacy "washcloth" squares for a bedspread. Only 59p a ball. I'm trying quite hard not to buy some of the dk for my stash,(at least until after pay day) - rather fancy the grape colour or the sand for a sloppy sweater (I have 2 cotton ones which I love for summer) but I'd be happy with any of them.

Tell you what girl, if you fancy it and ordered some but didn't like it I would take it off your hands (buy it) no problem any colour you like.
Chin up

Morning
Up early this AM, not feeling 'quite right' IYKWIM woke at 4 and could'nt get back off to sleep, so thought I may as well get up _pale_
Went to a friends last night took my knitting and managed to get a couple of buntings done.
Have done the back and sleeves of DGS's Thomas the Tank Engine jumper, now I can start the best bit....the front with the picture on.....I was going to take it to my friends last night, but decided against it as we talk sooo much goodness knows how it would have turned out. So thanks to PurpleTeddyBear for the patterns :T I will post a pic when I finish it.
Bought a couple of "stash"boxes from poundland the other day and they fit just nicely under the stairs out of sight
Yawning my head off now think I'll go up and see if I can get another hour or so.
Have good days all, will read back later

pam - thats rather scary. the yarn that i had been using was the washed haze in dk - i needed 5 more balls. anyway i love the dk and have ordered some of the aran in order to make myself a little laptop cover - my laptop is getting scratched to bits, so i thought the aran in grape and pink would make a nice ripple pattern. i spoke to kemps the other day and they told me that they were getting more of the washed haze in soon, i hope that they keep it for a while as i am going to order more!!!
