    Hi All,
my word its been quiet on here today - I think we must have worn ourselves out over the last couple of days!!

psso - Elaine, good to hear that your DH is well enough to be taken off all the wires & things and now has someone to talk to when you're not there! You are sounding quite positive about things - yes! there really is an upside to him being stuck in hospital, as you say - at least he's "on the spot" if there is a cancellation in the schedule!

Are you restricted to specific visiting hours? this can be a bit of a pain in the butt, when Mum was in recently I had to get there 45mins before visiting started to be able to park close - otherwise I would have at least 1½ mile walk - with a couple of steep hills - poor knees - if I wanted to go public transport I would have needed an additional 30 mins and no time for coffee, as it was I had plenty of time to browse the little WRVS 'bits n bobs' shop and have a coffee before visiting started.

Keep your chin up, we're all thinking of you - dare I send (((hugs))) for your DH ! - okay and for you too
    :heartsmil .

    luv

Hi Elaine - thinking of you and your DH. He's in the best place, frustrating though it must be for you both.

Prfungi - I think the parking is difficult at all the hospitals in the UK, these days. My DS2 had to have a series of operations on his ear a few years ago, plus he broke his finger during the same period, so I was back and forwards to the hospital for months - I dread to think what it cost in parking, let alone petrol looking for a parking space.

I finished another bunting last night. Having spent ages on the ripple blanket, it's quite nice doing small things again! I must do a few more things for my grandchild-to-be, too - due date is 8 weeks from today!

Well, it looks like it will be a nice day today, so I hope it is for all of you, too.

    Morning everyone,

Kathy - thank you for the patterns, they are fab. Have printed them off, my boys are going to love them, the cavemen look so cute.:A

Elaine - How awful that the surgeon still has'nt been to see your dh, must be so frustrating, sending you lots of (((hugs))) and hope all is sorted soon.

I am determined to do my update this weekend as have missed a couple now I think.

    Take care all.:D

Elaine - sometimes these things are sent to frustrate you! i suppose the only thing we can do is to grin and bear it, however, we are behind you all the way, so loads of positive thoughts beaming over to you and your family.

pam - you are right, it was very quiet here yesterday, i was getting rather worried that the server was down and i just didn't know about it or something.

kathy - how big was your ripple blanket? i have started mine and am loving it, other than the fact that i keep repeating 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4 for the pattern, it is quite silly but it keeps my mind on what i am supposed to be doing.

the other baby blanket that i started, i decided was too long and too heavy, so i have ripped some of it out and have started again with a larger hook, so now the blanket is lighter and a bit shorter, sort of the size of a cot (i am estimating as i have no idea how big a cot is).

anyway, have a lovely day, i am off to make some bread and then perhaps do some crochet... i have placed another order with kemps, but as the postie has already been, i am sure that the ripple blanket wont get any further this weekend.

    (((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

Only Girl - you're more than welcome to the pattern. They are good, aren't they? I love all Jean Greenhowe's patterns because they're not difficult, and they are ideal for using up leftovers. I've lost count of how many of her toys I've made for Christmas and birthday pressies over the years!

DPixie - I've just measured my ripple blanket; it's 40" by 30". I didn't have a size in mind, just carried on until it looked right for a toddler to carry around. The baby's not born yet, but I'm rather hoping the blanket will be something he or she will keep as a comforter, so it needed to be an easy-to-carry size! I also crocheted a row of single crochet right round the edge; it gives it a 'finished' look, especially along the row ends - I was surprised at what a difference that made. I'm going to use the same pattern to make cushion covers for my Mum, in autumn colours, for a Christmas present. I'll do a plain back and a ripple front, so they should be quite easy. I have some Aran wool in the right colours, and might try those for the cushions. With a big hook, they shouldn't take long!

Well, I'm up to my eyes in paperwork at the moment, so I'll pop back later.

    Hope everyone is well.

    kathy

i will measure mine, but i had the same thought in mind as i have seen a few toddlers carrying around their blankets. i was going to ask you about finishing it off, i think i will do that too.

by the way, my yahoo address no longer exists for some reason, so i have not been able to have a look on the wooligans site at your finished blanket. i will definitely try to sort out a new address and request membership again.

be well and dont work too hard.

hello everyone! hope you are all well and best wishes and get well wishes to those who are not feeling too good just now.

I have a quick question, I have just knitted the baby christening gown from the preemies website and it doesn't say much about sewing it up, so do I sew it up down the whole back seam or do I need to leave part of it open to make it easier to put on?

Would appreciate it if someone can help, Thanks very much!

ok, thank you Pam! do they get tied with ribbon or something then? And should I just weave in the tail ends of the wool? I have just started the bonnet now.

can you tell I have never seen a christening robe before btw? :o
