Hi Everyone
Hope your LO is feeling better PTB
Also your tribe LCWilson
And Maytaurus
And Elaine and hubby
and Shez's poor hand
And anyone else I may have missed ((((hugs)))).
Shez, F1widow may be making you laugh re your hubby but what does he think? Could be a good fund raising opportunity to ebay him.
I have just spent a chunk of this evening sewing up my SANDS blanket and you all know how I feel about sewing up! It looks good though and is a relief to get it put away in its plastic bag safe from grubby boys and their hands! May do a few more rows of a crochet angel pocket before I go to bed. Fell asleep in front of the TV last night and shamefully had neither hook nor needles in my hands!
Hope everyone is back to top form soon x0 -

Hi Maytaurus - thanks for such a lovely post, as usual. I hope everything goes well with the x-rays and so on. Loved the 'hole in the ground' pics - brilliant. Didn't love the spider, though!
The barn now has a level floor, but the floor itself now has to be raised to the same level as the other floors in the house, so that's another job.
The little calf with arthritis has been standing up now and again. You can see the effect of the arthritis in its front legs, but it seems he's learning to live with it. He's definitely found a soft spot with us.
I was thinking about the octopus pattern (I've emailed it you, Pip's Mum), which is one of Jean Greenhowe's patterns; I have quite a few of her books of patterns, some for her great big clowns, some for traditional toys, dumpling dolls, and a few others. If anyone has seen a pattern they like, by maybe looking on her website, please feel free to ask me to scan it and email it. Her patterns are very easy, considering how good they are, and they all use basic DK wool, so are ideal for using up leftovers.
Well, I made a hat, a pair of booties, and half a bunting last night, so I feel I'm getting a bit more productive.
The weather here is looking gorgeous - I hope it is there, too.
My Mum was starting to settle into her new home but she has had a few mishaps. I just wish I'd been there, but my sister is just around the corner, luckily. First of all, she was getting ready to put her glaucoma drops in her eye and (this makes me cry when I think of it), she accidentally put one drop of Olbas Oil in her left eye, instead. Obviously, she's been in real pain, but it's getting better now. She couldn't even watch TV, read or knit, so has been feeling pretty down. She has also hurt her hip - probably because she's been trying to do too much; and then she stepped on a picture hook on the floor! On the plus side, she loves her new home, and feels safe and secure knowing that my sister and her family are within easy reach.
I hope everyone else's Mums are doing well; they do need looking after, don't they?
Anyway, will call in later.

In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
morning all, before i forget Mrs Moneypenny, i am a lefty and have no problem either following the right-handed tutorials on youtube or with crocheting at all - unfortunately i think it does look a bit weird, like watching a lefty write, but other than that, i love it and the blanket for our neighbour is about 1/3 of the way finished already.
maytaurus, its lovely to have you back, i didn't work too hard in the garden, but know that i have another hours work to do today, after the gym. oh well, what can one do?
yesterday i went to 10 charity shops (yes 10!!!) looking for books on crochet - i was looking for ones with some easy patterns, can you believe that i could not find even one book with crochet patterns in it. i was quite surprised having recently learned that for every knitter in the world there are 3 crocheters. anyway, am looking for a childs cardi pattern and an adults cardi pattern that is EASY. have looked on all the usual sites (thanks to Maytaurus) but if anyone has a tried and tested one, i would be grateful. i keep remembering how cold it will be in south africa just now and think of all those orphans without blankets and jumpers. i went there about 10 years ago at this time of year and thought that i might have arrived in antarctica by mistake! the temp drops to about -5 degrees at night and in the early morning and then rises to about 10 or 12 during the day. not very warm and no one has the luxury of central heating, some may be lucky enough to afford electric heating, but lets face it, if you are an orphanage, you are not going to have the money to spend on that, are you. anyway, enough of my soapbox stuff - i will get down now.
have a lovely day everyone, and just to remind you, this is one of the most wonderful sites and i am very grateful to be even a small part of this community - you really do preserve my sanity.
have a wonderful day

morning everyone, looks like its going to be a lovely day here, after all the rain we had yesterday.
not much knitting going to get done here today, have an aromatherapy massage booked for this morning, then bf taking me to lunch, and an afternoon in a little town called morley, that has more charity shops than i've ever seen anywhere else, all on the main high street, hoping to find wool, or knitting/crocheting books or patterns.
kathy, i've just bought a digital camera, and by time i've worked out how to use it, i should have knitted two octopuses lol.
actually i think they could be a work in progress along with everything else i start lol, they are for the boys for an extra xmas pressie, so plenty time to get them done.
all this talk of spiders, is making me itch, i have a real phobia about them.
hope everyone has a lovely day, hugs to those that need one
shaz xxenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Shaz - all this talk about spiders, and you're going to be knitting two things with eight legs each! I like what you said about your boys still being into cuddly toys, even though they're 14 years old. My two were just the same; in fact my DS2 (almost 28) still appreciates a knitted toy, especially if it's football related! I've also knitted several dolls for my Mum - you're never too old!
DPixie - I can't imagine what it must be like to have to live with the cold, without the benefit of heating. Just goes to show how much we in the developed world take for granted, doesn't it?
