Wow, Jean, what a lot of postage! I'll ask around my neighbours and see if there is a cheaper way? You could have flown it back for that price! Tell your DH that horses are gentle creatures and, if you breathe up their nostrils, they will trust you as a friend! I told my DH to do that - I won't tell you what he said back to me!
Mrs Moneypenny - I hope your pain goes away soon. Sorry it's miserable weather there - I daren't tell you what it's like here.

[QUOTE=roamin in the gloamin;22544545]OH I had a right arguement with the PO lady - she was a newbie and didn't know what screens to click onto. Result was that my latest parcel to LH cost 31.85 Euros - heart attack city - I really should find an international carrier - any ideas will be most welcome.

Jean
just a quick note to you to say that you can use Parcel2go.com

Maytaurus - I hope you get on well at the doctor's. Thank you so much for the info about parcels. I will definitely find that handy for birthdays, Christmas, and so on, as well as charity parcels. I just have to knit 5kgs worth of preemie items! It's great to know that you can make savings like that. Poor Jean, but at least she will know now!

Oh no Jean - that was an awful lot of postage (no idea what that will be in sterling but it sounds horrendously expensive :0( As mentioned on here Parcel2go are great and send things all over the world. If you go to their site you can get a quote before you buy so you will know exactly what it will cost - just type in dimensions of box and weight and where you are sending from and to and hey presto an instant list of quotes for you to choose from. We do love them here and know all the carriers by their first names now :0)
DS2 did very well in his interview and has been told he will be getting his place on the course (Digital Media Studies) after the hols - lady tutor said he could do a project on making advertising media for Loving Hands and another on our ICU support group with help from the college so he will be helping his dear old mum and scoring brownie points on his course at the same time! Brilliant! (Also as his girlfriend is on the Photography HND course she will be allowed to collaborate with him on these projects so Brownie points for her too - bonus!).
Lovely smells coming from kitchen when we got back there Kelly and Roxanne DD1 and DD3 are in there baking for tonights candle party (DD4, DS2 and DGD3 are all fighting over who is getting to lick the bowls and spoons so I am keeping safe in here with my laptop :0)
Better go and calm the situation before DH arrives from work.0 -
Lou - well done to your DS. Digital Media Studies sounds very much beyond me! Enjoy the results of the cooking smells in your kitchen!

THANK YOU ALL - will investigate parcels2go soon as I get some time to myself. Hae nae problem with the postage costs I put it down to my - donate to a charity this year so I shall look at what I give to the medicins sans frontier ( medicines withthout borders I believe in UK terms) and will still make my dotation to the life boats - they might save my DH prior to his boat going down - we all have something we believe fervently in off that I am certain. Think sterling equates to Euros at present but what the hell I gave up the fags to do something good with my life so I think I am still in with a chance. September is looking good for a trip to the auld Scotland......anybody want anything picking up and moving to LH let me know will hit, hampshire, kent (my sis) then all points north let me know I can call in even if its only for a cuppa at your nearest M6 motorway services- estate car empty on the way north - unless you want some smelly cheese or wine brought over - ha ha
Jean in France - still hot and sticky Yep {brianair gets me there cheaper but he won'\t let me bring back loads of goodies) and I detest flying too much hanging around getting the sweaty palms and dry mouth.and not getting to see all my relies- scattered throughout the UK...... made doughnuts with my class of conversational English this afterrnoon but did digress into Scottish towards the end - they all know when do it (wonder how they know)- so if you ever come across someone French speaking with a true Scots accent its all my fault
sorry.
