Hi all
Finally summoned up the energy to catch up.
Thank you everyone for the good wishes and hugs. Special thanks to maytaurus for the pic :T. So sorry to hear you haven't been so well again, but hope you're feeling a little better.
Hope all the mothers and husbands are doing ok, and that all spotty kids have a few less spots.
Been a real time here with the hospitals. Doctor phoned me with the results from mam's scan - as suspected her gall bladder is packed with small stones. The only course of action would be to remove the gall bladder, but given her age and health we have all decided it's best to leave it alone for now. If she gets bad pain or too many fevers then we would amend our thinking.
Lawrence got a letter today to see his consultant mid July. I'm thinking they can't have found anything really bad or he would have been back sooner than that... so fingers crossed.
Susan had her first round of chemo on Wednesday. She was very nearly given someone else's treatment by mistake, it was only a student nurse who spotted the error in time. She's been very tired of course, but so far the anti-sickness drugs are doing a great job... touch wood.
Step niece has bleeding vessels behind her eyes due to diabetes and needs to have them lazered. Her mum got a new ear piercing and it got infected so she had to have the ring removed at the hospital.
And finally to Alan - He got a phone call from the hospital yesterday begging him to change surgeons (he'd resisted for a while). Anyway he finally agreed and went to see him today.... and they have brought his operation forward to this Saturday! All fingers crossed this time please.
Welcome to all the newbies.
And I'm another multi-crafter. Used to do cross stitch years ago, and got into card making big time two or three years ago. Had a house full of stuff, but decided to sell it when mam had her last fall (I needed the space and didn't have so much time). Raised a few hundred by selling lots of it on eBay, then gave a huge box full to a hospital. They had a unit which got Alzheimer victims etc crafting for therapy and the woman had bought some things off me. The last of the stuff went to the local youth club and it took up 4 shopping trolleys
Been doing quite well with the knitting/crochet and will hopefully get a parcel sent off next week.
Have a good night all.

Evening everyone
Maytaurus :T glad to see you back, we really missed you x. I am trying to leave the wool alone I really am but it just takes over, and now I have so much I am running out of places to put itmust knit and crochet quicker....thats my new mantra.....will it work, who knows
one can but try
Welcome sunshineshelli you will love it in here everyone is so friendly and always ready to help, and well done on learning to knit, its a skill once learned is never forgotten
I went to the local wool shop today to get a pattern for a Thomas the Tank Engine jumper for our DGS, he loves Thomas, but had no luck, so will keep looking.
I used to do a lot of cross stitch and tapestry some years ago but since my lodger took residence (Arthur-Itis) I cant feel the sewing needle so good and keep dropping it, so decided to pick up the knitting needles and crochet hook, hands still ache but I just keep swapping from one to the other and it seems to work. :T
Off for a shower now then to get the last things ready to take down to the caravan tomorrow, so I will see you all sometime on Sunday.
TTFN
Anne

Edit: O Lorna lots of (((hugs))) for you and yours, I will remember you all in my prayers x0 -
(((Hugs))) to you Lorna, and all the family. Good Luck to Alan - at least he doesn't have to wait too long for his op now. I wish everyone well - it's such a worrying time for you. I'm very impressed with how generous you were with your cardmaking stuff - you will have made a difference to a lot of peoples' lives.
Pippa - have a great time!
Well, I've finished another little hat, in between holding crowbars and bits of pipe in DH's 'play barn' - don't ask. I just kept my eyes closed in case I saw a spider!
Going to have a shower now and, if I can drag myself awway from all the new calves in the field next door, will settle down to some more crochet.
Hope you all have a great evening.

Good evening all,
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while – things have been completely hectic and manic here over the past couple of weeks, and I’ve only just managed to grab some catch-up time!
So, update from sunny Bradford:
The Christening was fabulous! Scarlett was so well behaved all day, she was giggly and smiley all day and was the perfect baby. She took “having her hair washed by the vicar” (as DS put it) all in her stride and just smiled and was super cute. She did have a wee bit of an eye infection on the day (aftermath of chickenpox we think) so we need to pop her dress back on and take some proper photos. Once I've sorted some, I'll get them on my website and post the link for you so you can all go "awww"!
Pam – the slippers were fab thank you sooo much. A little gold ribbon and they were perfect!
On Saturday we had to take DS to hospital in a big white ambulance as he suffered a febrile convulsion following over exertion at a friend’s party and an underlying viral infection (tonsillitis), so that was scarey. Thankfully, paramedics were at home within 5 minutes flat and he was at the hospital within 15 minutes. All checked out and home within 2 hours. He’s absolutely fine, nothing to worry about and all back to normal. So drama over there.
Had meeting at “big school” today as DS moves up to Reception in September – a big step as I am sure many of you will appreciate. He’s more than ready for it, so we’re all excited. Bought new shoes and his uniform today whilst Asda have their school offer on (ends Saturday), and Clarks are having a sale! I think I’ll be more of a nervous state than Jacob will be when the time comes.
On the knitting front, I have confronted the demon that is the sewing up bag, and so far have now completed 12 buntings. Why oh why I don’t sew them up when I have finished them is beyond me. Also lurking in the bag are several boobs – along with some other UFO’s (some of which remain unidentified, as well as unfinished!!) Am also determined to use of some of my stash on stuff before I buy any more wool (damn Kemps and their special offers) – so am grabbing a ball from the box/bag and knitting it up into anything and everything…..so lots of little things winding their ways to Shelley and Lou in the next few weeks.
And as for you lot – far too much catching up and talking of crochet (I WILL get the hang of it, I WILL, I WILL, I WILL!!) so here we go:
A BIG WELCOME to all the newbies, you will have a fab journey here for a journey it is – whether you’ve been knitting for years or a complete novice, you’ll soon be tacking the ripple blankets with your eyes shut and doing lots of complicated things that seem an age away at the moment. There’s always someone around to help if you get stuck or have a question or six; no matter how silly it seems – so enjoy!!
Maytaurus – your posts always make me smile, and hope you’re doing well.
Chalky – you should set up a home for homeless hedgies!
Kathy – I’ll add my long-awaited update (heaven knows when I did my last one), once I get everything sewn up and sorted out, then I will know where I am with things!!
FI – I do the card-making and the knitting, but simply haven’t got the patience for cross-stich and as for crochet – well…….
Lorna – thinking of you and yours, and hope all goes well with everyone and everything.
Anne – I am sure I have a Thomas pattern or two (in fact, I KNOW I have as I made DS a Thomas jumper last year) have sent you a PM. Enjoy the caravan.
And a big hello and lots of hugs to everyone else!!
Cracking on with the boob sewing now – and another cup of tea!
Catch up laters and happy clicking,
Dawn xx:hello:0 -

I can't believe its taken me nearly 3 days just to knit a boob because of my flipping hand,
While my hand is like this i am thinking about doing some sewing up to see if i can do that.
Its nice to see some new members coming on to the thread

PurpleTeddybear - My little boy (5.5 months) had one a couple of weeks ago due to being overheated. It is very scary as you and shezmit both say. Hope he is ok now x xDebt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Hi Shelley and Pips Mum -
Thanks for the reassurance on that - he did have one when he was 18 months old due to the same thing, and docs said he'll grow out of it.
It was just so scarey, but as we're both trained first aiders, the panic button didn't get pressed and I was surprised how calm I remained. I think the reality hit when we got back from hosie and he went to bed being my normal little monkey!
Dawn xx:hello:0 -
Oh bless you, thats sweet. I think you just go into autopilot dont you? My OH has epilepsy but even though I knew what to do its still very upsetting seeing them like that.

Forgot to say hope your wee one is okay - it was horrible enough when DS is four, let alone at 5 and a bit months! My littlest is just 9 months now, but is the same size as a 6 month (some dresses still fitting her that are first size!).
I knitted a dress the other day (yes, it's in the sewing up bag) and realised that it was the same size as stuff we had to make qucikly for Scarlett when she was born as she was a teeny 5lbs 2oz and soooo small. Makes you think -
Huge huggles,
Dawn x:hello:0
