Hi everyone.
Tight As - the photos are stunning; what a gorgeous couple they make!
Paulabear - a warm welcome to you. Well done on learning to knit, especially as you must be busy with three children under five! Don't forget to read the very first post on this thread for all the information, addresses and so on.
F1Widow - hope your little one is better soon, although asking for food is a good sign that he's on the mend!
Mrs Moneypenny - I'm thinking of your two boys at Windsor Castle.
Well, I have finally finished the ripple blanket for my grandchild-to-be. I'll take a photo of it later to put on the Wooligans. I'm pleased with although I have made a couple of mistakes. I feel it makes it more personal! I can do the pattern in my sleep now. After I've made a few preemie items, I shall try the ripple pattern on some cushion covers for my Mum.
Well, once again it's pouring with rain here. I did my food shop this morning, then sat down after lunch and promptly dozed off! I'm just about to hunt through my patterns to decide what to make next. Probably buntings, I think. After the blanket, they'll seem really quick and easy.
Anyway, hope you are all well.

Hello all, and welcome to the newbies, you`ll just love being part of this merry gang I`m sure.

I still get days when patterns etc don`t make sense and I need to ask questions (DH says memory is going - it`s an age thing  cheeky thing)
It`s nice to know we`re not alone - this is such a supportive group......and not just with the knitting ..there`s always lots of hugs going for those of us who need them. I know I`ve been scooooooping up lots lately - I appreciate every one of them. Thanks girls.
Well, my little DGS came in this morning and proudly showed off his spots - chickenpox  of course we had to count them as I was putting on the calamine cream ( definitely better than the lotion, it sinks in like moisture cream and doesn`t leave that chalky mess) sorry Chalky75 nothing personal and there were a few more at lunchtime than there were in the morning - happy days :rotfl:
Hope we big people don`t get shingles tho` - I could do without that problem.

morning all - hope that you are well and that the chickenpox dont worry the kids too much and that Elaine you dont develop shingles.
i am trying to decide what pattern to use for the blanket i am going to crochet for our neighbour in france, have found another ripple blanket that looks quite easy, although it is in dc rather than tc. other than that, have taken some books out of the library and have seen some rather pretty stitch patterns that i would like to try. however, there may be some problems in the understanding, so i think i am going to go to the wool shop today and buy some wool and ask the chap there if he knows anyone who might be willing to spend some time with me translating those patterns/giving me a lesson - if you dont ask, you dont get....
other than that, tried a crocheted bunting, not happy with how it looks, the wool was so thick (even though it was dk) and it looked so stiff that i pulled it all out and did it in a dc rather than sc. still not happy with what i produced, so think until i can improve on that, will be knitting buntings.
oh well time to go to the gym, have looked on bbc weather and they tell me that it wont rain until 1 o'clock, so am going to chance it and walk... wish me luck. can't wait to come home and do some crocheting.
have a lovely day all, hope that you enjoy whatever it is you put your hands to.
hugs all around

morning all
hope all are well, hop the chicken pox arent causing too many problems and DONT develop into shingles for anyone. (we have chickenpox round here as well at the school i work at but luckily mine all had it as youngsters)
we went out last night but the boys were late back so i did a few rows on a sands blanket while waiting for them and while listening to their adventures once they were home
they had a lovely day despite the queen NOT being there. youngest was amazed that the men in big hats had guns with knives on so they could shoot you and stab you :rotfl: eldest said he was more worried about the ones that just had the machine guns:eek:
youngest was convinced their was a ghost cat as a cat kept appearing and disappearing during the rehearsals. cant wait to get their photos developed. i think the church are making a dvd of the day so hopefully ill get to see some of what they didSPC~12 ot 124

Hi all.
Mrs Moneypenny - sounds like your boys had a great day, despite the fear of gunfire at any moment!
Well, now that the ripple blanket is finally finished, I have gone through my stash for wool for preemie items, and DH shortened a pair of wooden knitting needles for me - they are lovely to knit with but they were so long, the were difficult to use. Now they will be perfect for hats, booties, buntings and so on.
The weather is lovely here after a dreadful few days of wind, rain and gloomy skies. I've got washing on the line for the first time in five days.
DPixie - I hope you find a blanket you enjoy doing for your French neighbour.
Well, I'd better go and do some work if I'm to treat myself to the afternoon off.
See you all later.

Hi all
I know I don't usually post very often, even though I'm generally "lurking", but I've been around even less the last couple of weeks as both my DS have been in the midst of their GCSEs and A levels - both in the same year - we didn't think of that when we had them
Needless to say it's been a bit fraught and distraught in our house, and I'm sure I've spotted a few more grey hairs and wrinklesand I'm afraid not much knitting done, so I haven't updated for a couple of weeks.
Still, we're nearly at the end now so I hope to pick up the needles again soon. Should be able to relax until the results come out in August. Phew!
I've been reading the thread though so hugs and sympathy to all who need it and congrats to those who are celebrating.
Hope the weather changes for the better this weekend - could do with some sunshine.
Hope to be back in the next day or so to update my totals.
Helen
