Hi Chums,
thanks for the great welcome am just about to have a skim through to see what I can find re the bed socks. Katie came round this afternoon and I told her I had put out a message on the boards and I got
'Oh Nan now everyone will know I've got cold feet'
I told her not to worry as I didn't put a photo on of her and her cold tooties.Bless her she is a dear lass, she has just one more exam to do and then she leaves school and hopes to go to college in September for 2 years to do a childcare course. She is then hoping to get into Uni and do a nursing degree. I think she will make a great nurse as she is very level headed and caring.
She wants me to teach her how to knit next week,so I am going to start her on something simple like some squares for my charity blankets.

Hi all.

Chalky - the photos are gorgeous and and you look fabulous. I loved the choice of blues for the bridesmaids' dresses and boys' ties. You can just tell it was a day full of happiness and joy.

Sylv - welcome to you. You'll fit in perfectly here. I'm glad PSSO has explained about the abbreviations - you'll soon get the hang of them. If you look on the very first post on this thread, you'll find lots of info about what we do, but please ask if there's anything you're unsure of. There's always someone here to help.

Jackie0 - good luck teaching your DGD to knit. If she wants to have a go at baby items, once she's mastered the basics, she's more than welcome to join us!

Shez - fantastic tattoo; but, I say again, you're a braver woman than me! I felt like a wimp just having my ears pierced!

I'm halfway through a knitted bunting - I'm trying out my newly-shortened wooden needles, and they're so much easier to use now that the ends don't get up my sleeves, or DH's nose! I shall finish that, then have a go at the crochet bunting that PSSO posted the link to yesterday.

Maytaurus - are you OK? Haven't seen you post for a couple of days. Hope all is well.

Well, I woke up early, but not as early as it looks, because we're an hour ahead of you here! I'm off for my second cuppa.

Hi all - me again. I've just found this on Loving Hands. The Poetry Society want to make one big poem out of knitted squares which each have a letter of the alphabet on them. You need to register your interest, either by email or letter, and they will send you a pack wth instructions, templates, etc.. If you email, they have given the email address out with AT instead of @. They ask you to change it to @, but you also need to take out the space after the AT to get the correct address. I hope that makes sense!

I think it's a great idea and hope I get an easy letter to do!

Yes, quite a few of us on Loving Hands have registered interest in doing this project which was mentioned in one of the knitting magazines.

This is the actual link to the poetry society page

http://www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/knit

so the email address you will need to use if you want to register is

officeassistant@poetrysociety.org.uk

Hope this helps.

PSSO - I'm glad you posted the link. I forgot! I've just had a reply from them, saying that the templates are not quite ready but will be soon, so I'm wondering what letter I'll get!

JackieO Tell your GD she`s not alone by any means having cold feet.

My poor DH has suffered for many years as he has to put up with mine. :rotfl:

Bet you all thought psso referred to the knitting term ........not so.

It`s his reaction when I get into bed and look for somewhere warm ;) to put the tootsies  -- `Put Some Socks On ---for pete`s sake !!! ` LOL.

PSSO - my feet are like that, even in the summer. I have lots of pairs of socks but have never thought about knitting any - I might have a go this winter.

Thanks for the link to the magic ring - that's definitely what Sylv needs.

Well, I've worked hard all morning, so I have a pot of tea brewing (thank goodness I managed to find English tea here - the French just don't know what a good cup of tea really is!), and I'm going to sit down for an hour (or two, or three!).
