Hello everyone :hello::hello::hello:
Well I am back from Devon, did you miss me...probably not.....all far too busy outside knitting in this lovely sunshine
The weather was boootiful and so was the caravan, 1 or 2 little niggles but hopefully they will be sorted out by the company we bought it from.
We are off again tomorrow on a Sun deal to Rockley Park in Poole, with DS1 his OH and DGD's and, now this is even better DS2,DIL and our new little DGS, it will be sooo good, its his first holiday ever, he has never been to the seaside, and now he is walking it will be another new experience for him. He is really growing and is so gorgeous. I wish I could post a pic of him but its not allowed yet.
More good news....the adoption papers are in so now we wait for another 3 months until its finalised. Then I think it will be party time _party__party__party_
Well I have finished the ripple blanket and have started another one
I enjoyed doing it so much I thought I'd do one for down at the caravan.
Confession time....I went out to get a ball of black dk and errrrm I came out with 10 x 100g balls black, fawn, burnt orange, light coffee, white, cerise, purple, lilac, medium pink and turquoisebut it was only 97p a ball reduced from £1:59 hows that for a bargain, very OS
Hope you are all ok, and the poorly Mums are feeling more themselves now, O and I hope the wedding went off well.
If we have any newbies WELCOME to you but be warned its very addictive in here and you will all end up like the rest of us, with secret stashes hidden away all over the place :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I havent read through yet I will try to a bit later, off to get dinner sorted now, should be back later but if I dont manage it, I will be home on Monday sometime
Be good

I certainly have rambled on sorry
edit: Ahhh May they are lovely, I am in to crochet again now so I will have to do some of them x0 -
Welcome back, Pippa - and a special (((hug))) to your little DGS. He sounds so gorgeous; it'll be great when you can post a photo of him! Have a great holiday with him!
Maytaurus - those ballet slippers are fantastic and look really easy to do. I'm going to have a go at them tonight. Thanks for posting it.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

maytaurus, another lovely link as always, shame i haven't yet cracked how to crochet.
pippa welcome back, and enjoy your hols tommorrow with your family, especially your dgs, they are so cute at that age, pity theyu have to grow up lol.
well, i have a confession, i went to the wool shop `15 miles away today, as i was going to a knitting group there anyway, and bought some lovely king cole aero, in multi blues, that will make me a lovely belted cardigan , and also some king cole twister in multi pinks, that will make me a hoody jumper, both for the winter. now to hide it, and the stuff i got from readicut this morning before bf comes over and finds it.
at the weekend,i shall go into the loft and 'find it' :rotfl::rotfl:, and say it must have been there ages lol
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Pippa, you are a gadabout! Enjoy your time away with all the littlies.
Chalky, love it - but there is no mention of prickly creatures :rotfl:
The sooner those of us with barns (and you all know who you are!) get them habitable, the sooner we can all have a Priory/St. Trinians/rehab tour. Kathy, I can't stop chuckling at the thought of police tut-tutting at clearing up after a load of unruly knitters who have left snippings all over the place :rotfl:
Shaz, I reckon you can get away with stash building at the moment - it makes you feel better when you are having a tough time.
Readicut sent me a leaflet saying they have blur on offer (which I think is lovely but is a bit of a pain to knit with) and Lord help me, I'm tempted. I still haven't made a start on the Peru that came a couple of weeks ago. Can't do what Shaz does and hide it in the loft because we haven't got a proper ladder there and I can't get into it. reckon DH might be hiding a mad woman up there like Mr Rochester - and there the similarity ends!

evening all
Haven't posted for a while, but have been reading and lurking...trying to come to terms with my "addiction" (Chalky, how did I giggle....so true!!):rotfl::rotfl:
All things Christening taking over here at the moment as the big day is Sunday; balloons have arrived and I now need to collect the helium; cake has been baked and iced (and I must admit, looks stunning...will post a pic when I take one); my dress fits(!); party bags for the kiddies all packed and all I need to do now is sort the candle favours! Phew - and reeeelax!
Jacqui - it's Kemps wool shop, and as already mentioned, a quick Google should find it. I think it's fab, they have some cracking offers and delivery is usually just a few days.
Shaz - where's your Knit & Natter Group? Would love to come and join you if I can....let me know! If it's 15 miles from you with a wool shop then it's worth the trip!!:D:j
Am officially unemployed now that maternity leave has finished, and my P45 is in the post! eek - am now sending my CV off all over the place and fingers crossed that something will come of it all. I don't want to be the new girl all over again, but needs must and there we are. Thinking positive, things happen for a reason and that reason must be that there is something bigger and better along the horizon (or that I can use some of my ever increasing stash up....;))
Hope everyone is well, and once more, big cuddles to everyone (cos we all need them, even if we think we don't).
Love
Dawn x
MayTaurus - the ballet slippers are gorgeous, BIG SHAME that I simply CANNOT get my head round the whole crochet thing; am trying but I really don't get it....they would have been perfect with Scarlett's christening gown!! Ho hum, will persevere with it all and I will get there!!!:hello:0 -

Hi Donna,
As far as I know (and I STILL don't get crochet at all., but not from lack of trying)....
Ch - ?? is chain stitch (the foundation stitch bit)
sl st - slip stitch?? slip stich....
sc - ?? single crochet
hdc - ?? half double?
dc - ?? double -
I think the Annie's Attic instructions are American terms which are slightly different from ours, but I am sure someone will be along soon to explain it all in english terms......
On reading this back, I think I've simply confused the issue......
Must get my head around this one-hook terminology!!

Hi Purple & Donna
Yep, the instructions are American in this pattern, Purple - your interpretation of the abbreviations is correct - well done!
Conversion to UK is as follows:
American UK
sc dc - double crochet
dc tr - treble
hdc htr - half treble
I have taken a copy of the pattern and translated it to UK terms - pm me if you'd like it -
please note I made one of these this morning & had to fudge the numbers!I'll have another go & see if I can find the fault (probably me:rotfl:) before I send out a copy.
luv
Pam:smileyhea.Pam.:hello:0 -
Thanks very much Purple and thanks Pam too!
yes please Pam! that would be great if you wouldn't mind pm'ing me a copy?? Thanks very much!
I can crochet squares etc but when it comes to making things, I haven't done anything except blankets. But these slippers seem like a good place to start and they are really pretty, will make a good little present as I seem to have lots of friends having lots of babies just now!

Had to laugh re the little slippers Pam - most of my crochet is fudged I think!
Have been doing a SANDS blanket for LH for the last few days. Although it is looooong, it's quite nice knitting as I was happily watching Richard Gere while knitting the now very long rows - brainless suits me! I am approx 3" inches from completing the increase half but it is tricky to measure and can't just do the ball estimate thing as have a 250g ball. Hope to reach the decreases over the weekend - then just the border. I get slightly paranoid knitting large things in white - far too much opportunity for it to get grubbed up by who knows what but probably an interested muck-magnet child who wants to "help" by holding the wool .
Have resisted the call of the on-offer blur so far - angelic me!
Enough wittering, going to cool off with a shower and get the pollen out of my hair *sneeze*
Hope everyone is OK
Night x0
