Good morning everyone. I woke up early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so in the end I had to get up, but it's not quite as early here as it is in the UK!
Prfungi - the blanket sounds gorgeous. I'm looking forward to seeing a photo of the finished result.
Maytaurus - that's a lovely site - thanks for the link. There are some lovely ideas there, and I love the initials. Great for adding that personal touch to all sorts of things. You're up really early, aren't you?
Well, I'm trying so hard to finish my ripple blanket but I seem to spend very little time actually sitting down on the sofa! I suppose once we get a satellite dish and can watch some TV, we'll sit down more, but at the moment, I seem to spend hours pottering about.
Anyway, I'm off to put the kettle on again!
Have a great day.

There must be something in the water today - everyone is up at an ungodly hour!
So glad to hear your mum is doing well Pam.
Well, it happened again - Hospital called at 4pm yesterday to cancel Alan's operation... for I think the fourth time . Surely it's someone Else's turn to get cancelled instead of him. I wouldn't care but Lestrene (SIL) had 'phoned and told me straight away. Alan called in about an hour later and said something about mam and Lawrence going to hospital, and I said 'More than you are now'. What I didn't know was he hadn't had his mobile on him and didn't even know it was cancelled.... Whoops!I feel so sorry for him. He's already nervous enough as there is over a thirty per cent chance of things ending badly, and they keep doing this to him at the last minute.
Don't think I'll be getting back to sleep now, so once my pain relief kicks in I'll think about knitting a bunting or two.
Have a good day everyone, and I'll let you know how things go at the hospital.

LC - how awful that the op has been cancelled so many times. It must be so nerve-wracking for him; I don't know how they can keep doing it to people. It really isn't fair, is it? I do hope things work out.

Goodmorning Everybody, sorry I missed yesterday - Wednesday's are very busy for me, still back now. Hope you are all well and have had plenty of lovely sunshine. I am still doing the Project Washables - just love the sewing machine, but I do promise to make it to a knitting machine today or tomorrow,
PIPS MUM pillow cases and duvet covers, sheets all make fantastic covers for ST's or bags for that matter, the best pattern and photo's are on the Loving Hands site - the first pads I made were only done in flannel (pillow cases and sheets) following Suazannes plan. Then I found some towels - didn't tell DH - but believe I am nearly at the end of them, the outer covers are so easy and quick to make and its good to give a sewing machine a run.......
MAYTAURUS I broached the Horse subject and got told he would buy me....................................................a clothes horse! Sausage that he is, no I do believe that is a no no from the start, we already have a set too in December over what size tree, so can't see me winning that one. May leave it a month or so and give it another go tho' - I would still have to clear that barn too - YUK
Cuddles for everyone - whether you think you need them or not - its' extremely important to be tactile, hope to be back later

morning all,
good news about your mum pam, i'm another who cant resist the cuddly balls sitting in the shop.
LC, thats really awful that they cancelled the op again, how frustrating for you and your family, (((hugs)))
son daniel, was in court yesterday, and his case has be adjourned for 3 weeks til the solicitor gets his medical records, i was really hoping it would all be finished yesterday, why do they have to drag things on?
planning on having a lazy day today, jeremy kyle, and knitting this morn, maybe a little tidy round. Then this afternoon, the monthly knit and natter group that i go to, its 15 miles away, but its good to meet with others, AND there is a fab wool shop there, that i just have to visit, and rescue, some poor balls left sitting on the shelf lol
hugs all

THOUGHT IT WAS ABOUT TIME THESE LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT WOOL WERE PUBLISHED
1. Beware Wool is a very addictive substance.
2. Withdrawal from wool is nearly impossible once you have got the addictive trait
3.It can create feelings of paranoia if you are separated from it .This new phenomena has just been named by The World Health Organisation as Wool Displacement Disorder
4. One of the worst symptoms is empty hand syndrome which when the patient afflicted from now on called a "kniitter" or in some cases usually of less severity "crocheter" feel empty and alone when their hands have not got wool in them.
5. Sufferers go to great lengths to hide their addiction secreting large amounts of wool in many different places and denying to almost everyone ,even themselves the size of their stash.
6.Feelings of delusion are very common. The lack of a need, or apparent use for a particular type of wool does not stop the sufferer from buying it ,sometimes in large amounts.
7. Large amounts of time is spent by the sufferer in sorting wool into types, colours, ply etc which is called grooming and can create problems in the home due to lack of housework being undertaken.
8.Wool left unattended for any length of time shows its displeasure by fighting with any other ball of wool in close proximity, again causing the need for large amounts of time being spent by the sufferer in calming, smoothing and organising the material.
9.Wool can cause "normal" people to join together with other sufferers who they do not know to discuss in fine detail the symptoms and manifeststions of their illness. This is often achieved on the Internet and an example of this ,where the sufferers are in the most advanced stages of the illness is on Martins Money Tips Forum.
10. This computer involvement gives the addiction a sense of normality, comaraderie and undoubtedly causes the symptoms to become much worse and continued involvement on such a site is causing this to become a much bigger global problem. This is particularly true of France where incidents of the disease have been recorded especially in rural barns .
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP THIS INFORMATION CLOSE TO YOU IN CASE YOU FEEL THE ONSET OF EARLY SYMPTOMS OF THE DISEASE. AS YET THERE IS NO CURETry and do a good deed every day.0 -

chalky, that has made me feel 'normal' lol, knowing i'm not the only suffer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
dissapointed with my first order from readicut, and wont be using them again.
a lot of the wool i ordered was in short supply, so instead of saying the amount i needed was out of stock, they've sent odd balls.
eg, i order enough balls to complete a project so i ordered 8, and instead one or two arrived, suppose i could knit something stripey

Chalky - I'm afraid it's too late for most of us! Don't forget, though, that unlike addiction to alcohol, gambling, drugs or nicotine, this addiction is productive, does not lead to violence (well, not to my knowledge!), does not cause fights, does not hospitalise people, does not need the emergency services to pick up any pieces, is cost-effective when you consider the finished items, does not risk burning the house down, does not make you fall over (unless you trip on your work-in-progress), does not make you forget what you did the night before, won't get you arrested, or make you spend all the housekeeping (I'm not too sure about that last one - there are plenty to times when the choice between a couple of chops or some lovely wool, has resulted in the wool being purchased, and something cheap for dinner!) Anyway, apart from all that, I believe that handling wool, in all its lovely textures and colours, is good for soul, and if more of those who are addicted to the really horrid vices took it up, it may end up curing them!
