Hi everyone - and thanks, Maytaurus, for all the mentions in your lovely post. The pics are great.

Well, we spent last night helping our friends with their quiz night, which was great fun. We were persuaded to stay for Sunday lunch today, and have not long been back. I've had a really lazy day, really! We are visiting the local Fete tomorrow (bank holiday for us here), but it's the last day of a four-day fete, so we'll just see the winding up bits, I expect.

I shall do some more of my ripple blanket this evening. I hope to get it finished over the next day or two, then I shall have a break from the big stuff and make some more preemie things.

Thanks for all your updates so far; I shall do the main update sometime tomorrow morning.

I hear the weather has been great in the UK; I hope it continues. It's been lovely here, too.

(((Hugs))) to everyone and their Mums and Dads!

Hi Everyone! I missed you all!
First of all, ((((hugs)))) to all who need them especially those with Mum-worries. Sorry to hear so many are having a troubling time with illness and hospital stays.
Shaz, hope things are going better for you.
    Maytaurus, stunning as ever.
Tight as, hope the weather where you were was as good as here and you all had a lovely day.
Chalky, what great pics and how lovely to be able to put a face to your name now! You don’t look like a hedgehog obsessive :rotfl:Was the wedding at Broomhill by any chance? We went past on Saturday and I thought of you because the weather was so beautiful and you’d mentioned it was at art gardens.
I took some projects with me when we went away (including that cardigan thing that has been ongoing for a while – not finished, but much nearer!) and did some of that in an attempt to get some stuff in wardrobes/away in order to make my stash pile look smaller :o. I started some socks on 2 needles with that lovely crofter wool (knits like fair isle) and they (it!) is going ok but there is a scary bit at the bottom of the pattern that I don’t understand so standby for questions when I get there! Sadly, the socks are my attempt at maybe (if they are good enough) preparing for C*******s…. :o in May..........
Shelley, I have a growing pile of stuff here but having found a box (which I needed because I was so excited with my first boobs that I stuffed them!) I’m trying to stuff it full!
Have managed to wash and dry 3 loads today thanks to the lovely weather – unfortunately there is still a huge pile to be done!
Hello to newbies – hope you love it here as much as I do. Be prepared to get “hooked” – I’ll get my coat……

Hi, just as a quick question - I really need a sun hat for myself and wanted to preferably knit one rather than crochet one (unless it is really really simple!) so does anyone know of an easy pattern for an adult sun hat?? Also what is the best wool/type of wool to make it from? Would appreciate some help with this if that is ok? I just need something to keep me cool and help me avoid headaches etc.

    Thanks very much! Donna.

Thanks very much everyone for the sun hat recommendations.

Do you think I could just use ordinary wool or should I use cotton?? I have some cotton but it's a bit old and dusty and its a not very nice grey colour! So would rather use something else but not sure if it would turn out well.

Apologies for going off topic re knitting purpose.

Hi all - I'm sorry I've not had time to update today. I've been invaded with visitors and then, as soon as they all went, the phone started to ring non stop. I shall update tomorrow - I don't want to try and do it in a hurry in case I make more mistakes than usual! Thanks for all your update.

Don - don't apologise or going 'off topic'. Knitting is knitting, and this thread is a great way of getting advice or asking for patterns, so we help charities and each other. We would love to see a photo of your hat! As far as which wool to use, do a test square first, to check the stitches per inch in the pattern; one yarn might be more suitable than the other.

    Hope everyone is well.
