Afternoon all,
DH has just dropped kiddlies off at Grandma's for the afternoon, so a whole few hours of peace and quiet (I wish).
before I ramble on, a HUGE BIG HUG to everyone who needs them at the moment, seems like there are a number of people in need of them, and as they're free, take as many as you need.
I lost my Mum a couple of years ago now (nearly) and I miss her every day - she was taken so quickly at the age of 54, and I still feel it's so unfair, but I'm slowly learning to deal with it. I am convinced that Mum has something to do with Scarlett being here, as she arrived a year and 2 weeks after Mum left us, and she is so like her in many ways it's scarey sometimes.
Anyway, onto positive and happier times - arrangements for the christening are going well, have just spoken to the lovely Asian restaurant where we are having the party afterwards and all is sorted there. Am going up on the Saturday night beforehand to deliver the cake (which I have yet to make), the party bags for the kiddies and the candle favours for the adults, as well as the balloons! All busy busy busy.
Am also making Scarlett a wee bolero jacket to go over her christening gown as it's short sleeved and she may get a bit cold. My Grandma has made the gown from my wedding dress (as she did DS's suit 4 years ago!), and I am knitting a blue/silver bolero with Sirdar Zanzibar wool which is a dream to knit with and looks so special. Is taking v little wool too, have done back and one front and still on my first 50g ball!!
Off to get hair chopped later this afternoon, and some shopping (NOT for wool - had another delivery from Kemps this morning....whoops).
Better go get washing on the line and make the most of the sunshine.
Again, huge huggles all round,
Take care,
Dawn xx:hello:0 -
Hi Everyone,
weather is a little better here today, not raining but cloudy.
Chalky- you have a lovely way with words, wish i could express how i feel like you do.
Lcwilson- sending big ((hugs)) to you and your family, you have so much to worry about. The skin condition sounds awful.
prfungi- thanks for the link to annies attic, have printed a copy off, I will attempt it when I feel more confident at crochet, not been doing it long.
dpixie- sounds like your doing really well with crochet, I had a look on youtube as well but they just seem to go so fast I can't keep up. i gave up and bought a book instead.
Sending happy thoughts to everyone, have a good day all.:D
Hi OnlyGirl - just a thought - have you looked at the crochet ripple blanket site - if you scroll down the page there are some really clear instructions with good photos - all sorts of tips - its a lovely site: - here's the link again if you haven't seen it -

Forgive me, I don't know what day it is let alone what time! A very dear friend of mine rang last week and explained that she and her husband were ill and could I possibly do their gite changeovers – all three of them. Off course off I trot spent Saturday cleaning up two of them the third to be done on Sunday – cor what a job that is, thank goodness I don't do that all the time. Then my neighbouring farmer announced that WE would be hay making this week, not to mention the state of my place!
Maytaurus, I would love to have a horse or two, DH says a definite no – shame really as I shared a horse with my sister when we were younger and it would have been fun to do so again. Looks like the barn will have to be habitable space for humans (OH and dogs) instead.
Chalky – there are times of the year when I just dip into my own space to stay there and deal with it, loss of any loved one is hard and takes a wee while to come to terms with no matter how strong you may be
Yep bought some more voile and they are lovely – only problem was they already had heading tape on BUT no strings to pull them to the correct width – SO I will at some time get around to runing string through them. OH I loved the wedding photies – you all looked as tho' a Good time was had by all – I am jealous – will keep nagging my son - I feel a big hat day coming on!!
PSSO – hang on in there, the difference after the op is amazing – my cousin had a triple last year and he is so much better now, its unbelievable, thinking of you all.
Sorry I don't have time to answer everyone individually – I struggle to just catch up with you all, but I will try harder next week.
Moilliere I will try and give you a call sometime tomorrow, given a bit of time to myself.
I would also like to say a huge welcome to all the newbies – you will be made extremely welcome here.
I have cut out a load of project washables for the Algerian Action and I just hope I can get around to some sewing over the next day or two – otherwise my weekly totals will be NIL – OOPS.
You all have a huge cuddle from me – and I mean huge enormous group hug to everyone. If I don't get back shortly – I hope you can all have the sunshine for the weekend – please I will take the rain – it means no more sore bottom on that ropey old tractor seat, will log in when I get the chance.

Hi Jean - good luck with your busy schedule! I'd love a horse, too, and hope to have one one day. Well, actually, I'd like a horse for me, a pony so that I could teach the grandchildren to ride, and a donkey because I like them. A neighbouring farmer has the most beautiful horse that we can see from our place, so I shall make do with her for now. She looks just like Black Beauty.
Well, I'd better go and water the plants before I settle down to a bit of crochet.

It’s awful when they are in & out of hospital isn’t it?
You can understand them not wanting to go there, when they’ve been really ill & suffered so much
My mum never tells you if she feels ill (well you know what I mean}..

My mum’s always been a home bird and she gets really depressed if she has to go in

I never have my mum going in the hospital unless she really has to, & even then I feel awful & get her out asap because I know how much she hates it, fortunately, they know that my daughter & I are capable of looking after her & would contact them if we needed to.

Wow, Maytaurus - your post is such a lovely start to the day! Thanks for the links, the piccies and the words! Thanks for thanking me for starting this thread - I'm so glad I did, even if I haven't been as productive for it as I'd like. I've 'met' some truly wonderful, kind and generous people here and hope that it never stops. This internet thingy is great when it's used for something like this, isn't it?
I'm sending lots of warm (((hugs))) to your Mum, Maytaurus, LC's Mum, Prfungi's Mum and mine - and all the other Mums who have raised such wonderful daughters.
LC Wilson - thinking of your family and hoping today is a better day for them.
Well, off to put the kettle on. Will call back later.

im not supposed to be here today, im painting a 'feature' wall AKA as being cheap and cheering up the room using up left over paint from another job that wasnt really enough so weve got to have an odd wall:rotfl:
did some of my stripey jumper last night while ER was on - will thursday nights ever be the same again:(
horses are lovely but they are quite an expensive 'pet' arent they? ive got the worlds most stupid cat. Hes a rescue cat called Roger weve had him about 10 years i think he has altzimers he sits near his food shelf waiting to be fed, so you feed him he eats the food (or leaves it depending what mood hes in) then comes back in and sits looking lovingly up at the food shelf. when he hears us come back in the car he walks up the drive to meet us but he waits till DH starts reversing down:eek:scares the heck out of the neighbours. times DH has stopped because roger has disappeared into the blnd spot so ive had to get out to move him (daft cat s sitting down just behind the back wheels. ive got a tortoise as well, Little Trog hes 2 1/2. he was my birthday/ wedding anni present last year from DH. also have a coule of fish and DD has a giant hamster honest its huge, she went to the pet shop last month to get her BFs chipmonks some food and spotted a cage with 'free to good home' label on it. she was told a lady brought it in as they'd split up hubby had the kids and she didnt want the hamster so took it in there and told them to do what they wanted with it.
lordy dont i waffle on today:o
kids are making the most of last day of 1/2 term so its still all quiet down here, will finish doing what i need to do then better start washing paintwork down:D. at some stage i must iron school uniform for next week:rolleyes:.
i really hope the weather stays lovely for the wedding weekend.
those with worrys and health problems gets virtual hugs from me. and everyone else gets a hug just for being them:T thats the thing i love about this thread we all get on so well yet have never met.
