    Hi all,

I fancy having a go at some of these ideas, but I'm not sure where to start.

I'm a reasonable basic knitter. (Done lots of Innocent hats before.)
What's good to start with / What's usually most needed ?

    Andrew :)

Hi Andrew and welcome! Ah, another late poster. Pam is sometimes around at this time of night but she seems to be MIA.
Shelley has recently said that she is short of buntings which are quite straightforward and always useful.
    Pattern here
    http://www.touchinglittlelives.org/knitbunting.html

They do not need to be lined or ribboned as Shezmit does it. There are loads of other links on the first post of the thread if you don't fancy that.
Shout if you get stuck on anything - people on here are very friendly and helpful. Good luck!

Actually we ended up in giggles because bthen we realised the assessor had to look at the result to pass or fail her.. Well dignity disappears !!

Oh thank goodness the crowds are back -- the few of us that were left missed you all so much!!

Welcome to the newbies and lovely to greet Andrew-- hope you realise this place can become addictive !! But we do so much good we are forgiven.

I think the best thing about this thread is we all knit loads of different things share pattern and tips. Give each other a welcome helping hand. We know that what we send will be used by such lovely people as LOU at Loving Hands and are very own Shelley , never mind all the other good causes we dip in and out of to support ( the spanish baby boy included)

So keep knitting, keep posting -- please dont be shy-- its not how good you are - its not how much you do -- its just a little bit makes a huge difference. AND we do make " friends " along the way.

So I am off to bed with a dab of cooling witch hazel and wish you all a very goodnight !!
Try and do a good deed every day.

Good morning everyone and apologies for having been MIA for the last few days. I've been helping a friend who prepares peoples' holiday homes for them, and one of the houses sprung several leaks as soon as we turned the water on! We had to call my DH to the rescue to sort out the leaks, and help with the mopping up. The pipes had not been lagged and the winter weather earlier in the year had caused havoc, plus the washing machine was leaking. Anyway, it was eventually all sorted out, the house was cleaned, the twenty towels we used to mop up were washed and dried, and we've all earned a bit of money! The problem is that my friend lives about thirty miles away, so I ended up staying with her for longer than planned and I feel as if I've been away for ages.

Welcome to Don and Andrew - it's great to have you with us. I hope you've found your way around the thread, but you'll find that everyone is so helpful on here - if you have any questions, please just ask.

I hope to be at home for a while now, with no more emergencies to deal with - our house had plenty of leaks originally, so my DH and I are experts at dealing with them now!

I have some bits and pieces to sort out today, along with a lot of ironing which I shall make a start on this morning, but I'm trying desperately to get into some sort of routine so that I can spend more time knitting - I wish there were more hours in the day.

Well done on such great totals, everyone. The numbers are staggering.

Chalky - you must be so excited now that the wedding date is getting closer and closer. Your posts have made me laugh - I hope the witch hazel worked!

Maytaurus - I hope you are feeling better today, and thank you for all your great links and pictures.

Pippa - I hope you are feeling better - some colds can really knock you sideways, so I hope you are taking it easy.

Well, I'll call back later. Hope you all have a great day.

    Hi all,

Just thought I'd pop in to say hello:hello: to all the newbies. I only joined earlier in the year and everyone one is so friendly and helpful you do get addicted, hope you enjoy it here.

K2tog - glad you finished your painting, I still have lots to do, tile paint really smells and I keep getting headaches from it so only do an hour or so at at time.

Mioliere - glad to see you back sounds like you've had a splashing time with all those leaks. I'm sure the holiday makers will appreciate all your hard work.

Chalky - hope you have recovered from your waxing, have never tried it myself but it made my eyes water at the thought of it.

Maytaurus - Hope your feeling better today, big ((Hugs)).

Right off to asda for more shopping, honestly feel like I live in the supermarkets, why do boys eat so much?:rotfl:
    See you all later.x

    Good morning everyone

Sorry to hear some folks aren’t feeling too good, hopefully things will improve for you soon.

Chalky – you did make me laugh, hopefully it was all worth it in the end. I was thinking of trying eyebrow threading but not sure how painful it would be. May “pluck” up the courage eventually.

Mioliere – you seem to lurch from one adventure to another. Not always the sort of adventure you would choose, but maybe it makes life interesting anyway?!

Can one of you expert knitters answer a question for me? Is it possible to convert a 4 ply knitting pattern to double knit wool? Is it a case of just changing the needle size? Or is it just not possible?

Hope everyone has a good day, looks like the weather could be pretty poor for a couple of days so maybe more knitting time?!

  • Hello Everybody – hope to get time to stay on line today. I spent all last week babysitting the 3 DGS's who are true monsters but I love them all anyway, didn't get a minute to myself and no computer access. Oh I did manage to get 1 (YES ONE) bunting knitted, surprised I even managed that much.
Got back home Monday pm to find that the seedlings in the poly tunnel got roasted -DH never opened the doors or watered. To top it all seems he has the shingles and he is not a happy bunny. Oh and the weather is pants but I am determined to smile.
Maytaurus I am so sorry I missed your birthday, I hope you had a good day regardless of what you got up to.
Moilliere I will sort out the skype – we have thunder and lightening most of this week, so I am trying to be careful on the computer.
Chalky – fantastic wedding photo's – keeping my fingers crossed for you and TightAS for the perfect wedding weather – I will take the rain for you.
ALL NEWBIES – welcome, come on in and rest a while, EVERYBODY – sending you all cuddles and love
I shall now go and read the forum properly and find out just what has been going on, knitting machine is up and I HOPE to get a couple of items done before the weekend update – its not that I am lazy I just can't seem to fit it all in, I would also like to get some more sewing done for Algerian Action, so I shall see how the day goes.
Jean in France - will check my totals later but I think they are correct
