Needles are red hot!!0 -
morning all
it was ju jitsu night as usual last night so when im not at a governors meeting i take my knitting to do with me after the register (DH is an instructor and our 2 boys take part) anyway my knitting has rasied a bit of interest with the students and they always ask what i'm working on each week. Last night one of the girls asked me if i could use some more wool for my charity knitting, she said her gran had passed away and had stockpiled the stuff. Her Dad had given it all to her as she does a bit of finger knitting she said she will never be able to use it all so if i want it she will start bringing it next week. It is very very kind of her but im wondering what ive let myself in for and how big this 'stash' will be:eek: . she said its mostl;y dark colours so dont think ay will be preemie wool but it will help with the stuff i do for LH.
Finally finished the dreaded scarf last night:T its been on the needles for months and months, it does look nice but couldn't wait to see the back of it after its hung round so long.
Will crack on with boobs for the rest of the week but have promised eldest DS and DD i will make a sackboy each for them for their girl and boyfriend for easter so no pressure there (should have started sooner they've been asking for weeks:o )
I hope all are well

HELP LA LA MOMENT ...........
Can anyone help I am just starting a blanket that I have seen on here and am feeling dumb - it goes like this....
Cast on 108 - knit for 9 rows then change size of needle
10th row - knit 1, yarn forward, knit 2 together - repeat to end of row
NOW THIS IS WHERE I GET CONFUSED on the next row should I start
11th row -knit 1, yarn forward etc or should the 11th row start different so each row alternates - I hope you understand what I mean ??????
I started it last night and it just didnt look right so I unpicked it and went to bed feeling distressed !!!!!:p
Any help would be gratefully received ........... f1widow xxx

Hi everyone
Thought I would sneak in a quick lunch time post as I don't seem to get round to it in the evening. I have just been on the knit-a-square website (www.knit-a-square.com) and I see they are accepting crochet squares now as well as knitted and in different yarns. Seems very friendly and there's a new forum - definitely worth a browse. I have a parcel for you Shezmit and now that I have written that down I will have to post it tomorrow!
I have some nice egg cozy patterns which I thought I would do for Easter and as my lot are all grown up I could snaffle back for smoothie hats - what do you think, do they accept sheep and ducks?

Hi all.
Well, it's nearing D-Day for us now! I shall be losing my connection to the internet on Friday afternoon (boo-hoo - I can't stand the thought of it), and will be reconnected on Thursday 26th - but whether I'll have set up the PC and be surfing with confidence that day, remains to be seen! I shall do my best. We are driving back with the empty truck, landing back in the UK on Tuesday next week; we'll be staying that night with friends, hopefully, not drinking too much Vino Collapsio, then driving both our cars back to France on Wednesday.
Prfungi has kindly offered to do a spreadsheet and is building it at the moment, so she says she may be asking people odd questions while she does it. A professionally built spreadsheet sounds just what we need - this thread is growing and growing, thanks to all the knitting, and all the newbies, so it needs to be a bit more manageable! I hate getting peoples' totals wrong, so please forgive the mistakes I have made so far! Once I have settled in in France, I'll have a lot more time to spend on it - and more time to knit, which I'm desperate to do! - so I hope this muddle is only temporary.
If you would all kindly post your updates in a separate post - highlighted and coloured, if you can, to make it noticeable! - it will be easier to total the figures. As I have already said, I won't be able to update this Sunday, but hope to the following Sunday. Please don't stop the chat, though - I think it's great and makes the thread inviting and friendly; I'm sure the warmth and friendliness of you all is what has brought us lots of lovely newbies! Also, in your 'chat' posts, you can still say what you have made that day, but the individual update posts are what will be used for the main update. I do hope I've explained all that properly!
Welcome to Maggie - glad you've found all the lovely patterns!
Well, I'd better get on with some lunch. I'll call in as often as I can before I'm disconnected!

Hi all - hope everyone is ok
Yes to all those people who commented on the "lacey" blanket - you are right once you get going you can see its ok - I should have kept going the night before instead of unpicking - have done a few inches and it looks ok
Shezmit - have taken the plunge and finally sent you a parcel today - sorry about not sending it earlier as I promised - I have had builders coming and going for over a week and also I was a bit worried that the items will be ok BUT in my haste to go to Post Office I completely forgot to send your sponsor money so will send next week - so sorry! If you can let me know when parcel arrives.
Mioliere - good to hear you are seeing the end in sight and only sorry you are going to be "cut off" from us all for a week - yes you are right I love the "chat" on here too - it makes me laugh and makes me realise when Im having a "bad day" that actually compared to some its a "good day"! and I feel that you are all sooooooo friendly and lovely and helpful and encouraging - Anyway will be thinking of you over the next week or so and look forward to seeing you back
I started the day with all good intentions - had some ironing done by 8.30 and a load of washing to go out then ........ ;)Tom Cruise came by and told me to slow down and have a cup of tea - Richard Gere walked me to the Post Office and Dolf Lungren is coming by this afternoon ..............;) errr no thats not right........... what really happened was some ironing done by 8.30 son to school - washing ready to go out - two friends popped in for coffee and chat -made my mum a mothers day card - bundled up my post went to PO - now back had lunch, want to knit but really had better tidy up (housework really does get in the way does'nt it!!!)- sun is shining and I hope we are all feeling happy today!!!!!!
Will Try and get back on later - best wishes to you all - Jaqui (f1widow) xxx

Afternoon all. Well I did get some wool from Aldi, just one ball of each of the pink, white and blue (baby) plus you get a free pattern on the ball band (if I'd been there I would have got more!!. ) Thats what I call value for money. Has anybody started the jacket pattern from the ball band? Think I will have a go at it when I get chance!!
At the moment I have prfungi's blanket pattern on the go. Its quite easy to do and seems to grow really quickly. Nice pattern too. Hope everyone is well and the needles are flying.
Good luck Kathy for your move and that all goes well. I'm sure it will - you seem so organised. I will update my totals when you are back on line.
