DdraigGoch wrote: »Hello you wonderful people you!
I'd like to volunteer to knit something for you - but the last thing I knitted was a scarf which took me 2 years and a lot of swearing:rotfl:Basically, I can barely knit! I have some double knitting wool and sort of thin chopstick sized needles and enough knitting ability to cast on and plain/purl. Will I be any use?
Welcome DdraighGoch,:j
Sounds like you have more than enough skill to be a fine addition to this incredibly friendly group.
If you read the first post on the thread it gives loads of information about the things we do and who for.
Any questions just ask - there's usually someone around to answer -as TightAs says there is never a stupid question but sometimes a stupid answer.:rotfl:

hi all,
Mini Munchkin is asleep, so thought I'd grab a couple of minutes on here!
F1 widow - sounds like row 10 is an eyelet row to me, so I would guess that Row 11 onwards would be plain knit as rows 1-9.
Am sorting through little balls in my stash at the moment, so there are lots of super stretchy hats, innocent hats and chickens coming off the needles at the moment.....will find some bigger balls of stuff I am sure, so there may be some more cardigans to come and jumpers, and bigger things! It's keeping me quiet, keeping me off the chocolate (6lbs down in 2 weeks...)
Washing machine update - engineer fixed it on Friday afternoon, I did 3 loads and then on Saturday. Well, let's just say one flooded floor, purple air and an engineer is coming agina tomorrow ---- phew for insurance is all I can say! methinks I need a new one.
Anyway, back to the stripes.

Hi f1,
which pattern are you using? not sure but I would think that row 11 should be a plain knit row.

Hi all
Still suffering with miserable ear but went out for a lovely walk with DH who was unexpectedly off work, DS1 at school and DS2 at nursery. Felt very strange being out together without the boys - kept thinking I'd forgotten something!
Have sussed where I went wrong with the flap hat. Will finish this one and do the next one correctly hopefully.
Anne that is a top tip with the elastic band- thankyou. Will save me dredging the back of the sofa and finding all DS2s escaped raisins. Hope PS finished the ironing before dirty dancing you round the room - priorities!
Anyway must go, Robbie Williams is asking what I would like for dinner - I'm so fickle! -and must relieve Bryan Adams of the feather duster. Actually off to make DS1 something to eat - my humdrum little life!0 -

http://www.nancyhearne.com/drawingboard/littleblankets.htm
and the bigger 'holey' blanket was posted by Lou on Loving Hands a while ago, the photo is near the bottom of page 4 of this thread
http://lovinghands.freeforums.org/summer-donations-t197-45.html
and the pattern is (quoted from Lou):
Cast on 108 sts on 4mm needles then the first 9 rows are just garter stitch then switch to 6mm needles and every row is just k1 (yfwd k2tog repeat to end) repeat that row till you have done 22 inches then switch back to 4mm needles and garter stitch another 9 rows then cast off.Debt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
hi i copied it from here and it said 9 rows plain knit then 10th row onwards for 22 inches was k1, yfwd, k2tog then after 22 inches switch to 4mm needles and then knit last 9 rows knit - im sure one of you lovely ladies wrote it down in one of the postings - i cant find it now though its a few weeks ago - any more help ??? many thanks for help so far though jaqui xx
jaqui it looks to me from the instruction above that every row is a patterned row except for the first 9 and the last 9 so it would be eyelet pattern with plain knit top and bottom edge? No expert though so I may have just confused the issue for you0 -
