Pam they sound ok to me you wil be surprised how many are needed in the hospitals, I don't mind knitting them now as i know how much they are needed but when i done my first one i thought the same as you, Keep going and i will put the ribbon in when they come if you want me too

I'm amazed at the size of some of these things too. Keep thinking they are never going to be big enough. One pair of booties feet are only about an inch and a half, but believe it or not they want even smaller ones too.

It's astounding that some of these babies make it. However, my late sister's first son weighed 2lb 1oz when he was born. He went down to 1lb 12oz before pulling through. And that was almost 50 years ago! Unfortunately they didn't know as much as they do today and he was given too much oxygen - this left him almost blind. Betty herself was born 70 years ago, and was just about 3lb, and the doctors wouldn't even let her have a wash with water - they used olive oil which left her skin black for months.

Hi all. Just finished the bunting - its so tiny I could cry! As with one of the earlier posters - i finished it with a little prayer which helped me a bit.
On a lighter note - visited a friend today who has "scrounged" loads of yarn for me - some of it baby so I have plenty to keep me going.

Hmmmmm........dont feel sleepy now - as I've been good girl :rotfl:today I might just have a glass of Baileys

Good morning everyone - another busy 24 hours on here, lots to update.

Prfungi - the buntings are very sad things to make but I just think how much comfort they must bring to the parents.

Well, having stocked up on wool, toy filling and bodkins yesterday, DH has agreed that I need to buy some more wool before we leave for France. It's a lot more expensive out there and I daren't run out!

Our leaving date is the 21st of this month, so I'm starting to panic and it feels as if there is way too much to do! We already have a few boxes packed and DH went through the shed yesterday - he kept bringing boxes in and plonking them on the kitchen table; that was annoying enough, but when a big spider crawled out of one and walked across the table, he got well and truly told off! It was a pretty nasty-looking spider, too!

Just to remind you, my PC is being serviced tomorrow evening and I have no idea whether the chappie needs to take it away or if he'll do it while he's here. I'll remind everyone again tomorrow. Hopefully, I won't be offline for too long!

Well, last night I made some booties and I also started on the Alan Dart chicken and egg pattern - I'm making one for each of the grandchildren for Easter. I'll have to leave them here for them because we'll be in France then. Anyway, enough of that - it makes me cry every time I think of not seeing them for Easter.

PLEASE NOTE: Thanks to everyone for such a good response to Chalky's appeal for the orphanage in Spain. Her SIL has arrived with all our items, and they have been delivered to the orphanage. Chalky has posted some great photos on page 27 of this thread. I think we will have made a big difference to a baby who arrived there with nothing; doesn't it make you feel good?!
