Mrs Moneypenny - lots of (((hugs))) to your DS. I hope things get better for him - they couldn't get much worse, bless him.

Well, I've just bought some more wool, some toy filling and two more bodkins just in case I don't find a convenient outlet in France for things like that! I bought lots of DK in white and pastel colours, as well as some deeper colours for making presents with. I had to drag myself away from the wool in the shop because it was SO tempting!

Anyway, I should do a bit more packing, I suppose. I'll need to show DH that I've done something other than buy up the wool shop while he's been at work.

Hi - have now had a chance to quickly catch up on all the "goings on" on here ..... phew what a busy lot .....

Anyway now Im back on can anyone help - I brought recently (just had to - couldnt resist it....) some wool called "Sprinkles" - its lovely and soft and looks gorgeous knitted - I thought about doing a Baby Bunting in it but........ I am having trouble knitting it up - it says on label use 6mm needles which I have tried but I just get in a terrible knot with it - the yarn looks like a single strand with little bobbles on it (about the size of a small polystyrene ball (sorry that description probably sounds sooooo stupid) - its so lovely I just dont want to give up on it - I have knitted ostrich/eye lash wool for scarves before but this is like"thicker" bits on the strand.

So if anyone can tell me should I go up a needle size ?????? or what am I doing wrong - I get to casting on and just cant seem to as it all gets knotted hmmmmmmm

Any help would be much appreciated - anyway off to get son from school - better hide the cheese scones I made before I go as they will be gone in a flash !!! once he gets home ....
Love and hugs to you all f1widow xxxxx
PS I had a thought the F1 season starts in about 2 weeks and hence "my user name" I shall at least be left in peace to knit for 2-3 hours on a Sunday Yipppeeeeeeeeeee

Please up date my totals. I had a good day yesterday. Spent some of the morning in bed with my knitting spreed all over it had a good sort out, finished lots of bit. 1 angel wrap, 1 baby hat, 8 IS hats.

Shezmit, - I knitted the wrap on the wrong size needles so its come out quite small, But unfortunatly, I'm sure their little ones that small.

Are they still collecting save the children hats. I knitted a hat in burgundy which I intended to be for sailors, but done completly the wrong size. It looks like newborn size. I'm so stupid.:D
Wooligans member 2010 - 6 animal blankets. 2 angel wraps, 2 baby hat, 4 Aaron squares, 5 cardigans

craftlady i made a sailors hat but my mistake was the opposite to yours my hat ended up so big it would have only fitted a rastafarian sailor with a huge head of dreadlocks. it was MASSIVE:o

It starts in 24 days and a few hours to be precise ;) I've always had a love of motorsport and my OH and I met through our mutual passion for F1! :D I can't wait till the season starts! I won't be able to knit while watching though, I leap about a bit too much for that, I'd do someone an injury!

Back to subject, lol, I have one solitary crochet hook that was kindly given to me and, not having crocheted since I was knee-high, I've been playing around with it and seem to have got the gist, managed one of the Preemies UK crocheted bibs, nice and simple. I'd love to try something else now that I seem to have the hang of it, but I need a really straightforward, uncomplicated pattern - does anyone have any suggestions?

*duh* Kathy could you update me with one bib please!

I've started updating my knits in my signature since you said it was useful Kathy, but could you let me know if the fact that it's highlighted in red in my sig is distracting/confusing for you - I had a sudden thought that it might be confusing since we highlight in red in our post for new knits.

  • Dear All,
Well done, such a lot of lovely things being done and lots of new people, I never have the time to knit, I spend it all reading the posts.

Please what is this thing called dust? Didn't Quentin Chrisp not say that after 4 years you don't notice the dust - there's your answer then ladies he he

Kathy Please add 4 Innocent smoothie hats AND 6 Tea cosy vent hats.

Promise I shall try something a bit more taxing after I have done some further knitting machine home work.

I have also knitted with some bobble yarn and found it okay to knit with, even though it had large bobbles. I cast on using the thunb method and my tension is quite loose so that probably helps. Just ease the bobbles through each stitch and try not to knit too tightly - persevere with it and take your time. I'm sure it will all work out fine.

Ditto for " Mrs Moneypenny - lots of (((hugs))) to your DS. I hope things get better for him - they couldn't get much worse, bless him." Poor thing.

Please can you update me with 1 bunting crocheted, great pattern!!! Turned out really well and I got all the edges straight, which is good for me. :rotfl:
