Wow I have finally got to the end after reading every single post!!! (took me all day at work yesterday and up until now as I kept getting rudely interrupted by customers hehe)
I only got taught how to knit on Sunday night by my gran. She is left handed, I am right handed but apparantly I am knitting left handed now lol.
I came across this thread yesterday morning by accident. I have already forwarded the link to this thread to my mum to try and get her onto some knitting, going to get my Gran onto it when I see her again this weekend, who will then forward it on to her sister and her next door neighbor, so I am recruiting before I have even started lol. (Also hoping she will help me with the hedgehog, the sack boy, and everything else that has been posted on here!! so much to choose from!!!)
I really really want to try the strawberry IS hat as it is just so darn cute!! so hopefully once I have done a few squares I will be able to attempt one of the basic hats.
I am currently making a mini scarf, don't know what it's going to be used for, it was just for me to learn with.
I have a few balls of wool as I bought some to make those no-knit scarfs but then decided I might as well learn how to knit. It's only been two days and I am already addicted and can't wait to go home from work at 5 and get the scarf finished so I can start (attempt) to make some squares.
Sorry I have wrote such a long post just amazed at this thread and all your hard work and can't wait to be able to help myself.
Bye for now xxx :T*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0 -
Hi S-Michaels and a warm welcome to you. You have loads of enthusiasm already and you only learnt to knit a few days ago! Well done. Although you've learned the left-handed way, left-handers can teach right-handers to knit by facing a mirror - that way the right-handers will learn the right-handed way - if that makes sense! Your recruitment drive sounds brilliant - the more the merrier, so thanks! You'll have found all the info on the very first post of this thread, and Maytaurus's great links to patterns and so on, so there's plenty for you to digest. It must have been a marathon reading session going through the whole thread - we're on over 1000 posts now!
I hope you enjoy it here!

thanks mioliere. It gave me something to do at work as we are really quiet at the moment (we're a small village printing shop)
Just shown my mum the link to the Innocent smoothies campaign and she also loves the strawberry hat and can't wait to start having a go.
I have posted on a few threads on MSE but this is the most friendliest I have found.
Still itching to get home and continue with my knitting though. I am now used to kniting left handed so it doesn't bother me to much and think it would confuse me to try and learn right handed lol

Afternoon all,
Just a quick update from me - have had something of a slow weekend, DH has the flu so I've now got 3 little people to look after!
Anyway, Kathy would you please e so kind as to update my totals with a further:
2 Aaron squares
7 Innocent Smoothie hats
1 square Jumper for Soweto
Hope this is okay....have just received my parcel from Kemps Wool this morning which I hope has my hedgehog wool in. Have yet to open it, but I am sooooo excited!
Have half a teddy bear hand puppet finished, and the other half started, so should finish that later today. I am then going to find my chick/duckling creme egg pattern so will get some of them done too.
Nice to be kept busy on something other than Scarlett and Jacob sized things....

Hope no one read what I originally posted here as it was me being a bit dim. Now figured out how to see everyones avatars hehe.
Pleased with how mine turned out, thought it was going to get lost being so small lol

Wow! wlcome to all the new knitters on here. It feels like one enormous hug that is just growing and growing. It makes me smile to think of all the needles clicking and crochet hooks ummmm twirling (what do crochet hooks do?) Anyway I hope you realise that once you are hooked little pieces of wool breed in your house and appear everywhere. There was even a piece out in the road this morning !!Try and do a good deed every day.0

Tee hee hee! but Chalky, have you yet discovered how to breed exactly the yarn you want? and if so, will you please tell us your secret??
Kathy, another hat for me when you update, please.

slightly off topic but thought people could make them for the traumer toys instead of knitted ones.
If you go to this thread it gives you the link to a really cute penguin pattern

I've just 'finished' a baby bunting - I have just to join the top of the hood, but wasn't sure what is meant by 'weave the seam closed'. Could Shelley or someone let me know what/how to do ? !
[STRIKE]Sorry to be an idiot and a real pain, but can anyone help me with this? [/STRIKE]
EDIT: Thanks Shelley!!
