I been looking around as well.. today Netflights are coming back with very good quotes nearly 50£ less then yesterday :)

Did a quote with your details
300c Touring for 18 days from lax to lax is coming to £454.00 & £537 with their platinum package.
SUV (Dodge Durango) is coming to £508 & £590 with their platinum package

    dont forget quidco 3.9%

Those are good prices but they are with thrifty and not dollar, I have no idea if thats a good thing or bad thing though.

    Does anyone else know?

Good work people I think the main thing is I we want to be sure of what were paying no hidden extras etc. I would also think being as we are chosing as good or pretty near top of the range we can take our pick of what is on the parking lot.I love the look of the 300c tourer I photoed a fair few when i was in florida but I would think a 4x4 style would offer better viewing of the scenery etc. Please keep advice coming thanx

Possibly, but they may have less options available in that class than in the cheaper classes, so may be less choices on the lot in your chosen class...then again, probably a lot of people like me who would take a smaller vehicle than what I'd booked if the only other option was an SUV or estate so maybe there will be loads of choice....at least you're picking up at LAX...you should have a better selection than if you were picking up at a smaller airport or at a hotel location.

I'm pretty sure Thrifty are part of Dollar. When we were in SF last year, their offices were next to each other on O'Farrell St, and I was given the impression they were one of the same (can't remember why exactly).

Anyway, as you say, not sure if their policies are the same though, e.g. no one-way fees between CA, NV & AZ.

We used Thrifty at LAS and they let you pick what is on the lot, some of the others don't. No problems with them and no hidden extras. the problem we did have is that by 7pm when we got there, there were only 2 cars to choose from in the full size, a Magnum and a Charger, we chose the Magnum, wrong!!!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Thought this might be a little fun. We made this and have it on our wall in the lounge. The chips are from top to bottom and left to right, special edition xmas03 Hard Rock, Bellagio, New York, New York, Aladdin, Luxor, MGM Grand, Palms, Paris, Mandalay Bay, Palazzo, Mirage, Caesars, Tropicana, Treasure Island, and commemorative 60 year Flamingo

that's really cool, stoneman! How festive, AND Vegasy.

It's perhaps inspired me to do something better with our silver strikes...this is an old picture though as only 2 spaces left. :)

they're almost gone from casinos now due to the price of silver making them non-cost effective for the casinos to have them on the floor...but it used to be that most had a few slot machines that, if you got the right symbol on the winline, paid you a silver strike...they're normally worth $10 at the cage (some are more - ours are all $10)...some are limited edition and can be worth a lot more than $10 on the open market but we like ours just as reminders of our trips. For several years we've tried to win them from casinos where we don't already have one but would only stake $10 to try to win one. We have South Coast, Aladdin, Orleans, California, Stardust, Barbary Coast (2 - doh, didn't realise), Slots-a-Fun, Mirage, Bellagio, MGM, Circus Circus, Hard Rock, Flamingo, Treasure Island, NYNY, Palms, TI (this one labeled Treasure Island at the Mirage - we bought this one ebay), Planet Hollywood, Wynn, Sam's Town and Four Queens. :)

Edited to add, since I didn't really say WHAT they are...they're coins in protective covers, with various logos/pictures/etc. relating to each casino on them...they're shiny...I like them.
