Thats why a hotel swap mid trip often comes in handy.......eg stay first few days at Mirage/Venetian/TI, and then next few days at MGM/Luxor/NYNY. So see Jersey Boys while your oop north, and Believe while your daan sarf.

How long do you guys normally spend in Vegas? Was thinking about staying for a couple of weeks, is this too long?

I know we're the exception, but we spent six weeks there recently. Our shortest trip was two weeks, and they have been getting progressively longer.

You can easily fill two weeks in Vegas. Just dont turn up there and think "what shall we do".....get a good idea of what you want to do before you go and where it is, and then play it by ear when youre there eg pick two or three shows and whichever is available at tix4tonite first, go to that one first.

This should help get you thinking as to whats where........

Indeed. and with all the walking I usually find that I don't gain weight while in Vegas despite all the bad for me food I eat...one trip I actually LOST 5lbs...which was just ridiculous. :)

I'm exactly the same ferf, all the swimming and walking i do lets me get away with it:D Thats probably why i don't mind the amount of walking we do, i'd dread to think what would happen otherwise:eek: A 5lb loss is madness though, wish that would happen to me!!!

    Interesting, thanks for the info.

I hear that the MGM Signature is a good place to stay, any thoughts on that?

    sorry guys
    whats wrong with M-bay?

Ditto what Froggitt said. It's too far south for us and we would be constantly trying to get to at least the MGM if not mid-strip.

I had a really good offer for MB, but didn't take them up on it for that reason.

Can't think of any better advice for a first trip to Vegas...there is so much to do, but it can be such an overwhelming place if you're unprepared that you'll just sort of stand there with your mouth hanging open wondering where to start. Don't make too strict an intinerary as what you want to do and when will change regularly...but do have ideas of what you want to do.

The ONLY people I know who haven't enjoyed Vegas are those who went without any preparation...and they came back saying that there's nothing to do if you don't gamble...which is the most ridiculous comment ever.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

2 weeks is absolutely not too long in Vegas. We were there for 2 weeks in May. That was our 9th trip and we were still struggling to fit in everything we wanted to do.

As Froggitt has sugggested, read up on everything, especially on Page 1 of this topic, and have a plan of what you want to do, where you want to eat and which shows you want to see.

The one time we didn't have a planner made out we were there for 10 days and I was ready for home after 8 days as I couldn't think what else I wanted to do. Since then I always made out a planner. It's not cast in stone as we do vary things and there is also plenty time allowed to just wing it.

We stopped in the Signature for 10 night last Oct and loved it that much that we are going back again for 9 nights in Sept. It is an amazing hotel we had a junior suite and the room was just fab, I loved the bath so much cos the water came up to my shoulder when I was in it. Biggest advantage to me is that its a non smoking hotel Im not a smoker and smoke doesnt bother me anywhere else but I just cant stand it in a bedroom plus it just a nice break seen as smoke is everwhere else. We also liked the fact you had the Signature pools to use and then the main MGM ones aswell. The downside is it is set back from the strip (a little) but this honestly doesnt bother me it takes about 5 min to walk to the main part of the MGM and IMO if you cant put up with the extra 5 min walk then Vegas isnt the place to be going as it all walk walk walk like the other guys have just been saying! If you want to know anything else let me know and I will try and help. I could try and add some pics of the room on flicker if you like? :)

    Sorry for the long post!!!

Plus I dont think Signature has a casino.......the time difference really messus up my body clock, so I usually go to sleep around 9pm end up playing BJ at 3am on the first night......dont think Id want to wander out of my hotel to find a table though.
