Lots of discussions on flying and the actual planes.
My first Virgin flight to Vegas last year and we scored with a shiny newer plane on the way out (removable handsets etc), but the plane back was the really old crappy ones most people get. We'd happily go indirect or direct depending on what we could find the cheapest as the crap plane does arrive sooner so we get more time in Vegas - pros and cons on either for us.

I don't suffer from travel sickness and I fly every few weeks for work (just across the country), so I'm ok with the flying, but I do take funny turns. I forget to breathe and pass out :rolleyes2, which can happen really anywhere. I remember being on a flight on my own last year, and felt how you do when you're about to pass out. Had to tell the bloke next to me that I might pass out (better to warn him, I thought). His face was a picture. Thankfully I kept it together, as I feel awful after passing out and being on my own would have been a nightmare! Anyone want to sit next to me on the plane? :rotfl:

Trets - you said you might get out this year after all. Hope you can work out all the details.....:)

Also I keep looking on various website but if anyone could give me a heads up on here about any concerts that will be on over my dates in Sept it would be very much appreciated! :)

That's the one I check quite often on the run up to a trip - they seem to list more than any of the other sites I've seen.

You could go see Rick Springfield for me...we'll miss him by 10 days...when I was a little girl I fully planned to marry him. ;)

I had a look at Lion King (figuring it was at MB so maybe the same ticket situation) and for US customers yes, you can print your tickets...for international customers other than Canada who can have them posted but can't print them, only option was will call. It may well be different for tickets to a concert though.

Thanks for checking that out for me. Looks like a non-starter then as there's no way we'd be there to pick them up an hour beforehand.

I'm amazed that hubby's quite keen as he's usually the sensible and straight-laced one who downs any daft ideas I normally have.

    Hi,

Do most of you guys get transfers from the airport or just take a taxi?

Definitely a taxi. It costs $14-20 depending where you are staying and a shuttle is $6-7pp so worth the little extra for the convenience if there are just two of you and a no brainer if there are more.

    Whats the queues normally like?

It depends on the time of day and day of the week.

We arrived on a very busy Friday night around 7pm and the queue was horrendously long. However it moved quickly and we waited about 20-30 mins.

The journey only takes 10-15 mins and even less to the MGM.

Make sure you tell the driver, "No tunnel please" as that route is more expensive or if they ask if you want the quick route, just say no that the surface streets will be fine.

The amount of time saved by the tunnel, if any, is minimal.

yeah, I can't see any time that there would be any time savings to MGM by taking the tunnel...the shuttle will probably wait until it's full or close to full before it leaves, then will stop at a number of hotels...not sure where MGM falls in their route - logically it could be first, but I suppose it depends on whether the shuttle takes the tunnel. :)

Taxi queue from the international terminal (T2) seems to be a lot shorter than T1 which probably makes sense as fewer flights landing (though bigger planes) and longer time for people to straggle out after clearing immigration and customs than T1...and if you happen to be flying in on Virgin, a lot of people get the Virgin Holidays transfer vans.
