You may remember a few weeks ago I started my Everything Vegas google map.

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=105863286002279699212.0004692e030c9f2196755&ll=36.122208,-115.170193&spn=0.016847,0.036263&z=15

Well, its getting better all the time......with the fantastic help from ferf and luci, the number of "points of interest" is increasing, and more and more of the points now have some content behind them e.g. website, deals, reviews, editors comments.

I have also been speaking with the MSE Webmasters, who will hopefully soon be enabling the [gmap] functionality on this board, which will enable google maps to be embedded directly into a post, rather than linked to like the link above. The map is already linked to on the first page of this thread.......this will mean the map can be embedded on that page at whatever size and zoom we want.

I am now looking for a few more volunteers to add to the content on the map - Vegas regulars who can comment generally about restaurants, different room types in the hotels, shows etc, but also "experts" in some of the new categories to go onto the map......Poker Rooms, Golf, Clubs and Bars, and "Adult Fun" (which obviously includes where to get hold of midget strippers!!!).

I think the end objective is to create a "one stop shop" that contains the combined experience of loads of people in an easy to access "database".......200 plus pages of forum per year is a bit unwieldly to take on holiday with you.

If you are interested in contributing, let me know by PM and I can give you the required access to add to the map. If you just want to find out more before committing, also PM me and I can give you more details.

Some great work there, very impressed. What started out as a simple Wi-Fi locator has really developed into an excellent resource.

How far out of Vegas do you want to go ? Just thinking, as a start, of adding the other 2 locations of Cheesecake factory (as it's such a popular place).

    Here's the locations:

    LAS VEGAS- HENDERSON
The District at Green Valley Ranch, 160 S. Green Valley Pky, Henderson, NV 89052

    LAS VEGAS- SUMMERLIN
750 S Rampart Blvd Bldg 17, Las Vegas, NV 89145

I will try and help out by sending a PM with further suggestions.

Not quite Vegas but for those who like Cirque du Soleil shows (or for those who want to find out if they might), this show is supposed to be very good:

Just booked 2 tickets for the wife, just £57, for Saturday so I'll report back what she thought of it. We saw 'O' in Vegas recently and were totally blown away by it, one of the best things we've done in Vegas for certain.

An update, wife went to see the show and thought it was fantastic, even after seeing O in Vegas. So if it's on in a theatre nearby, maybe worth a look.

    Hi

Just a quick note for anyone who may have purchased a certificate from Restaurant.com to use at Dal Toro restaurant in the Palazzo Hotel .

We arrived last Wednesday 3rd June and there was a big sign at the entrance that the restaurant will no longer accept the certificates .

We had a chat with the manager but apart from offering a 20% discount he said there was nothing he could do and that all was the fault of Restaurant.com . It would appear to me that too many people took up the offer and that the restaurants profits were taking a hiding so they decided to stop honouring the certificates .

Needless to say we declined the offer of the discount and opted to spend our money at a different hotel casino.

I note that this has been posted on the TA site but couldnt see any mention of it here .

Thanks for the info - when you get back, if you contact restaurant.com they will give you a credit to buy another voucher for the same value. As far as I know, the restaurant sets the number of vouchers available each month (that's why some run out before the end of the month)...so perhaps they didn't realise how many people would actually use restaurant.com?

As i've (finally!) just received a cheque for a whopping £20.12 back for our trip (2 people) to Vegas in Dec' 06, I just though i'd put up a quick reminder about:

    https://www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk/
IF YOU BOUGHT A TICKET ON BRITISH AIRWAYS OR VIRGIN ATLANTIC AIRWAYS IN THE U.S. OR IN THE U.K. BETWEEN 11 AUGUST 2004 AND 23 MARCH 2006, YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO A PARTIAL REFUND OF THE FUEL SURCHARGE.

Swapping the voucher isnt any use now as I'm back in the UK . I'm only down a couple of $ so its not worth fretting over the cost but I was disappointed that Palazzo would not honour the certificates already purchased . It looks like it was Restaurant.com's mistake that the number of certificates available for the month were not limited .

It did put a bit of a downer on our last night but after a few cocktails we were fine .

Sorry, I forget that some people don't have plans to go back...you could contact them and ask for a refund then, maybe they would honour it...or may as well get a credit in case you find yourself back in the US at some point.

Aaarrrgghhh!!! I've been trying for the last 1/2 an hour to buy certificates on restaurant.com. Managed to get them in my basket, but when I logged in and clicked to confirm my details were correct and go to checkout, it just put me back to the front page.

I tried again and this time it said my shopping cart ID was wrong!!
