Hi guys, quick question for anyone who has stayed at or spent time in the vicinity of bright angel lodge. We will be there for a night when we go to vegas, we will be driving from vegas, staying the night and then returning to vegas the next day. I wanted to know what we could fit in, in the limited time we have there. My girlfriend fancies a visit to some kind of ranch or horse riding. I know there is a mule trek from the lodge but that will be too long as we will probably need to be heading back to vegas mid afternoon.

    All suggestions are welcome.

also, which casino has the best value spa?

    thanks in advance

Anyone stayed at the widescreen rooms in Excalibur recently? Just booked 5 nights there in Sept

Stayed in one in September last year was fine, (they put me in a end tower one so longer walk but extra sitting area), be aware there is no bath just showers.

Was fine and it was cheap too.

You won't have much time to do a lot at the canyon. Best idea is to walk the Rim eastwards, stopping often to admire the views, then walk back to Lodge as sun is going down on first afternoon. Then on morning before you leave you could walk a bit down the Bright Angel trail and back up - you won't have time to go far, but it is a neat thing to do!

(sorry, quote thingy not worked right!)

The widescreen room we had a couple of weeks ago was fine. They don't have a bath, but the big walk in shower is OK. the pressure was a little low if you're used to a power shower, but it got the job done. We were in Tower two which was good for getting to the pool. No trailing through the casino to get there.

    I hope you enjoy yourself.

    Maybe try http://www.apachestables.com/

They offer 1 and 2-hour horse back riding tours though not at the canyon itself, just outside...I'm not sure of the schedule, but I think you will drive more or less right by the place on your way in and on your way out...it may not be what your girlfriend fancies if she's wanting horseback riding at the cayon itself, but worth looking into.

We arrived about 3pm, took in a few of the viewing points, checked into our accomodation (next to Bright Angel), watched sunset, had a meal (beware that the food served at the restaurants in the park is not the best you will ever had and was some of the worst we'd ever had), went to bed, got up to watch sunrise, and left about 9:30 am to head back to Vegas. If you are planning on staying until the afternoon, you'll have more time there than we did. They do have various talks and small tours you'll see advertised at the rim so you could see if those work for you.

I hope you have a clear night as the best part for me was the stars at night - it was absolutely incredible.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
