Hi, could anyone help me regarding a one way car rental between Las Vegas and San Fransisco.
I need to rent a car from Las Vegas on 7th August 2009 and return it to San Fransisco on 10th August 2009.
At the moment I am a bit confused by all the one way rental fees and was wondering who the best company is to book car hire with. I dont want to be lumbered with a huge fee at drop off.
Are there any companies who don't charge these fees?
Dollar don't charge one-way fees between Nevada & California. You don't have to book direct though, give these a try:
http://www.carhire3000.com/
http://www.auto-europe.co.uk/
It may be worth calling these up to ensure you get a Dollar car with no extra fees. Virgin Atlantic have some good prices (with Dollar) at the moment but I can't see how to choose different pickup / dropoff locations.
Hope this helps !0 -
Thanks for that guys I have just looked on Netflights and Carhire 3000 and after inputting my requirements this message pops up:
Please Note: Additional one-way fees may apply for this rental. Should this be the case we will contact you after you send in your request & advise you of the relevant fees, which will be payable to the supplier locally.
Is this a standard message, should I worry about booking? They say they will contact me, but if there is a fee I would have to cancel.Pinky0 -

This is taken from the terms of conditions of booking on the netflights site:
One Way Rentals
A one way rental is any hire where the drop-off depot is different from where the vehicle was collected. One way rentals are available on a request and confirmation basis only, and will incur a "One Way Fee" based on the distance, in miles, between the two depots and not the distance driven during the hire. These fees are shown below.
These one way Fee's are paid on collection of the vehicle, it isn't possible to pre pay these.
Please Note - There is no fee for one way rentals within the states of Florida and California, or for one way rentals between the states of California, Arizona and Nevada.
Based on that i'd say it was just a standard message. For peace of mind though you could call them on 08007470000 to confirm before booking.
ETA: I can't see that message when i proceed with a booking on the netflights site? Did you get that message on both sites?:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
The Bellagio Fountainsi would not worry . used Carhire 3000 for a one way between LA and LV and had no drop off fees. Call them up if your worried , they have a helpful UK call centerBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0

Hi Guys,
Quick question - is £340 a good price for a flight in Sept (from MAN, decent times/layovers) or should I hang on a bit? I know its only £12 more than the flight I got excited about yest but I'm a born ditherer!
Thanks0 -

I would be happy with that :T it was about what we found (flying out Sept 28th) but as we are also staying 4 nights in Chicago on the way back American turned out best for us if a bit dearer. Is it with Air France flying Delta ?

There is no extra fee for one way rentals between nevada and california, so no extra fee when you drop the car off. The price you're quoted includes all the insurance you need as well.
Pinky. Totally agree with the above. have done the same journey 3 times.
netflights are always* the cheapest too
*well, always been the cheapest in the 25 odd times i've hired0 -
Dont look at it as a 12 hour stop over look at it as a day out in a new city :j:beer:
Definitely !
We had lunch in NYC last summer with a five hour layover was fun as one of our party had never been there...... and we told her we were just going a couple of stops to get out of the airport for a bit. Her face when she looked up and saw the ESB was priceless:)
Last winter I flew to Boston and had 8 hours in Chicago sightseeing-the sweet bit was the Boston fare was cheaper than Chicago.
In both cases I just hopped on the train from the airport straight into the city-fast and cheapI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

hi, I am off on 25th May for 8 nights and wanted some advice on whether you think the american casino guide or the las vegas rewards booklet are worth buying and which is the best value. The ACG is about £12 and the LVA one is $37 or is it worth buying both. Many thanks0

It really depends on which coupons you will use from each. This year we decided to buy the LVA membership only...when I went through the 2 lists of coupons and pulled out those I thought we had a good chance of using the value of those for the LVA was better than the ACG by a wide margin...but someone else with different interests, etc. might find a different answer. There are several that are in both books as well. The LVA has the up to $50 coupon at the Palms so using that to at least a $37 value would pay for the membership with one coupon (we've not yet actually used this one in several years so I didn't count that one in my comparison for us). And as Trets suggested the Jubilee voucher in the LVA book would also more than cover the cost of the LVA membership.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
