    OK, we've decided to hire a car this time for our week in Vegas and looking for a few suggestions to make the most of it. We don't normally venture off-strip (except Freemont St) so would like to do a few things that we've not done before, such as:

    * Days out (Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon ?)
    * Hotels / Casinos (Green Valley, South Point ?)
    * Restaurants / buffets (In-N-Out, Ellis Island, Terribles ?)
    * Activities (Gun store, Mystery Adventures ?)
    * Shopping Malls

    I don't really want to clog up the thread so I don't mind a few PMs if that's better for everyone.

    Many thanks in advance.

    have a look at shooting safaris I haev not doen it but it looks fun.

    we made a trip to Lake Las Vegas and felt that this was not worth the trip but we stopped for some lunch at the Fiesta in Henderson on the way back, the food was great and cheap and this was good, not worth its own trip but it is worth popping in if you are going by. Redrock NP we were disapointed with Valley of Fire is awsome, MT CHarleston is worth half a day, adn I enjoyed hoover Dam but woudl not go on the guided tour.

    Now I'm curious about why you wouldn't go on the guided tour? We've been twice (on the cheaper tour, we didn't take the hard hat tour) and thought it was really interesting. I do think you can get a lot of great photos without taking the tour but we though the tour was good value for money ourselves. :)

    My Dad is a lovley fella but being brought up in the war is very thrifty (please note thrifty not tight) and does not waste anything, he was not aware of the free refill thing and his glass kept being filled he didnt want to leave anything nor did he want to offend the waitress filling his glass so he kept drinking and drinking and drinking and then had to spend the erst of the day going to the loo.

    hahahaha! Oh, that's so sweet...I can just see the poor fella desperately sucking down each drink thinking this would be the last only to have it topped up again. :)

    Has anyone been to The Cupcakery? We've meant to go our last two trips but haven't made it...we're (again) planning to check it out in April. :)

    I really enjoyed our guided tour at Hoover Dam too. Can't remember the name of the guide but he was great. I think it's good value for money.
    GVR also has a FATBURGER if you're popping by for pancakes! Yum Yum.
    Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!

    I admit that it was about 10 years or more ago that I went on the tour and maybe i am more mature but I found it really boring, maybe its just not my thing I loved Alcatraz but I dont generally like guided things anyway maybe that's it.
