Hi
Looking to book my first Las Vegas Trip , looking at either
Luxor , Planet Hollywood , MGM grand or NY NY
Any suggestions or advice ??? :beer:0 -
The Secret GardenWe're off to Vegas for the first time in just over 3 weeks!:j
We can't decide how much cash to take with us. The majority of our spending money is going to go on our cards, but obviously we'll still need a bit of cash for tipping etc. I don't want to withdraw cash over there so need to make sure we take enough - how much cash is a sensible amount to take to Vegas?0 -

Its very difficult Vegas can be expenisve or it can be very cheap we budget $200 each per day this includes shows, (about 1 every 3 nights) a bit of shopping, food, drinks, admission to things (not transport as we always have a car) and a very modest slot budget. We rarely use it and save what is leftover for shopping. Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -
The Bellagio FountainsFor tipping I usually order $50 worth of $1 bills. They I top the tip wallet up with any other $1 I get whilst buying anything else. I hate to be caught out without $1's for tipping.
We budget far less than sew109 for our trips but still manage to have a good time and see a few shows. I think it's impossible to advise someone on how much to take, but we usually start out with $500 cash including the tip money and get other cash from the ATM's when we need to. I honestly have never added up what we spend, maybe I'll do that on our next trip.0 -

You will get differing opinions on all those hotels. have you read page 1 of this thread?
A great place to start is http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php
In the end, to me it comes down to a combination of price and location.
If those four were the same price I would choose PH.0 -

I have seen people sitting playing 1 cent slots all day and I have seen someone playing about $150000 every spin of a roullette wheel, that was exciting at the mandalay bay and drew quite a crowd
I take a few $1 for tipping and then withdraw cash with my nationwide debit card while there0 -

Agree with all the others, very difficult to say...also, you don't mention how long you will be there and what the 'etc' after tips would include, or what you would be tipping for (for meals you can put the tip on your card, etc. so is it just for drinks while gambling, valet, etc?)...so very hard to say. I'm not sure why you do not want to withdraw cash in Vegas? I assume that you have cards that are kind to an overseas traveller in terms of charges/exchange rate for purchases made in the US?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I'm looking to book Flamingo's however from getting quotes on PH site, I found out about a resort charge? PH is $5.
Just want to find out if Flamingo's have the same thing and if so how much it is? It doesn't state there, but I recall seeing somewhere it was $15-but i can't find it again?
Also I would like to do a helicopter tour of vegas or/and Grand Canyon whilst there- most likely I'll be there for 2-3 days-around 4-8th of april (4th is a saturday)- How much does it cost and do the rates change on weekends?
I'm going alone and have no idea what to expect or what to do whilst there!
Thanks :-D0 -

I don't think that Flamingo has a resort fee. If you have a look at page 1 there's loads of info on helicopter tours. As for what to expect - it will probably be completely different to any expectations - most are blown away upon arrival. As for what to do, there's loads of things to do, just depends on what sort of things you enjoy. I would suggest having a look around at various websites, this thread or a guide book so you at least have a few ideas of things you really want to do...it's pretty overwhelming and since you won't be there long, you won't want to waste time researching when you get there...go prepared with a list of options, but be prepared not to do them all - it's always the way in Vegas that you don't get to all you want to do even in a week or longer trip.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We were thinking about using our cards too but do you think there will fees applied by the card issuer for using it abroad? I am scared in case they bang a load of charges on! :rotfl:
