ferf loves Ballys, But she was very honest in her summing up of the 2. You did ask for a good pool and there is no comparison between flamingo and Ballys. Just one thing Ferf didnt mention, Ballys and Flamingo are next door to each other (except for a very small "Bills" in between).

I mention that, as you asked after Ellis Island was mentioned so it doesnt make that much difference to the distance to there.

Hey, thanks to all your help everyone who has replied, I have booked Flamingo after much deliberation. Just hope I get a decent room. Wonder if the $20 trick and a nice smile will do!!!!:rotfl:

Will keep checking the forum out as there is loads of info on here. Thanks again.

Just another question for you all from me.... Whats peoples views on Bungalow King Suite in the mgm grand compared to say the Grand Tower room? I can get the 1st stated for quite a reasonable price.

Well it works out to be £96 roughly a night.

Oohhh please tell me more.... I really want to go to the gun store... boys and toys :D

Well then, we went to the Gun Store on Tropicana and wanted to only shoot 'a gun' to try it out. Neither OH or me was fussed on AK47's etc, but as we went on a weekend, they were busy and would only sell the packages that include the AK47 etc and it was about £100, so we decided to give it a miss. That was after we had already signed the lovely waiver that basically says that even if the staff are are fault and you end up dead, you can't sue them :rotfl:

First stop once we've checked in then! Wonder if they'd mind if i just sit under it for a day or two? :rotfl:

At MGM I have stayed in Grand Tower and West Wind room, Bungalow, Celebrity Spa and Hollywood Suite. To be honest I dont think that the Bungalow is worth the extra money its just a room with a seating area and a big bathroom, the Grand Tower rooms are not small and unless you think that you are going to be spending hours watching TV then its probably not worth it. I like getting a suite so I can go and watch TV when the wife is asleep in the mornings but in these one room suites its hard to do it so I dont get the advantages. Dont think that you will get a better location because you have a suite you are no more or less likely to get a godo view or be close to the lifts, just have a think about what you need the extra footage for.

 Thanks for your advice Simon. Its a bit of a tricky decision for us cause most of the deals we have seen for the 3 nights are like $700 apart from this Bungalow suite and a deluxe pyramid room at the Luxor. We have already stayed in the later so would like to test out another hotel but ideally with something under $400 and that end of the strip

Hi everyone. Hope you're all ok. Not been on the board for a few weeks due to wedding stuff. Viewed over a dozen venues now and still not sure what on earth I want!! OH happy to do what I want and I don't know whether to go down the Vegas route. We both do love Vegas, and I'm desperate to get back for trip no 4, which will either be for wedding or part of honeymoon.
Who got married in Vegas and where? Trets and Sew - am I right you two were married there (though not to each other :rotfl:) I remember Maggianos being mentioned for dinner - Sew was that you?

yep we were married in Vegas , although i doubt our wedding would be what you are looking for. we simply showed up at the license office got our piece of paper then got a Taxi to the little white wedding chapel. we then did a a full grand Canyon lake mead tour by helicopter followed by lots of drinks and Mexican slap up . . the people who got in the helicopter after us where getting married in it over the grand canyon ...how cool is that

Okay i know to some it seems strange not dressing up or having friends and family there ( you could watch it on the internet though ) , but it was what we wanted to do .i don't criticise people who spend half our Mortgage on one day , if thats what you want to do then good luck to you . us we would rather have had the 5 following holidays to the USA than one day where everyone comlplains about the food behind your back  ( I'm refering to every wedding of my friends in this country , i'm sure you could pick somewhere for everyones taste in Vegas , i saw a wedding party in The Spice Market buffet once , i doubt anyone went away from that meal unsatisfied !!)

i am often reminded of the a line from the Royle Family when denise tells her mum about her friend who gets married on abroad . " how selfish , i mean it's a day for your family isn't it " ( take note some of my mums friends who are still in debt years after the day , but question our choice)

if you can think it someone will do for you in vegas , i saw people getting married in the Venetian "St marks sq " last trip and everyone sitting around the place eating ice cream clapped when they tied the knot . i though that was pretty cool.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Thanks Trets. I've costed it all up and it's a HUGE difference to getting married here. Do we really need to pay 4k on food!.....

I just wanted something quite relaxed and it's getting a bit silly now and the venue we really really like is so expensive. It's just so much money for one day! We love Vegas and lots of family thought we'd get married there anyway, as it really would suit us. I'm a bit torn, so thought it might help if I knew how other people did it in Vegas.

Personally, I think it's really important not to lose sight of what you want to do, though I also understand that there's some pressure to do what key family members expect...what about getting married in Vegas and inviting close friends and family to join you in Vegas if they want...then have a party back home later for everyone?

And I know it's not necessarily the sort of thing that would interest you but I saw this when doing some research on Valley of Fire and thought those were some pretty cool wedding photos. :)

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
