  • You may remember that I was given invaluable help last year when planning my trip to Vegas in March to attend a friends wedding. Well they are now proud parents of a beautiful 10 week old baby boy conceived there!!!

To be fair ferf, I did say "some days".... :D afterall you have to have a bit of a relax and sunbathe on holiday......

We will be getting out and about a few days though, as I said Death Valley, our stay in LA, Zion, GC....

If you have any other suggestions off the top of your head then i'd love to know them....

Sure, I agree, it was more the part about not knowing what else there was to do during the day in Vegas that startled me...off the top of my head, and I'm sure others will have loads of other ideas...all of these are free.

Red Rock Canyon (though compared to some of the other things you're planning it might pale in comparison)

Bellagio conservatory and lobby (Chihuly glass sculpture on ceiling cost over $1,000,000)

White tigers at Mirage (free viewing area separate to The Secret Garden)

Gardens at Flamingo – nice little oasis behind the property with various birdlife including, yes, flamingos

    Atlantis show at Caesars

Below the scenes tour of the 50,000 gallon aquarium at Caesars

Wynn or Bellagio room tours – used to be at 2pm meet at concierge desk (but that may have changed) and they would tour the regular rooms and the high roller suites that were not occupied

    Lions at MGM

    Big Elvis at Bill’s

Big section of Berlin Wall in the gent’s loos at Main Street Station

    Circus acts at Circus Circus

Bird show at Hawaiian Marketplace near MGM

    Rainforest at Mirage

Hard Rock music memorabilia collection scattered about the casino

Gaming lessons - may casinos offer free lessons on various games

Wander through Grand Canal Shoppes at Venetian, watch gondolas and check out the ceilings

Imperial Palace Auto Collection (free pass http://autocollections.com/index.cfm?action=free)

Atrium at Luxor (9 747s could be stacked in it if memory serves)

Ethel M Chocolate Factory tour (with cactus gardens)

M&M World and free, short 3D movie (I Lost My M in Vegas – cheesy, geared toward kids, but we giggled and you will never see a larger colour selection of M&Ms to purchase. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Tasha - that's lovely news. :)
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
  • Has anyone stayed in Imperial Palace? Was looking to go there on a weekend in April. All the other places are expensive for my budget. Next option was Flamingo's which looks to be next door to Imperial?

It depends on what you want - I think you said a nice pool is important? Bally's is a rectangle (though it has a deep end)...it has many loungers and some palm trees, but it's not known to be one of the better pools in Vegas - certainly nothing on the ones at Flamingo. The rooms are very large which we like...the casino is a bit more laid back than most which we also like, but others feel it doesn't have any sort of 'vibe'...it's much more quiet than a lot of casinos which we also like...but others wouldn't. So it's hard to say...the cheaper rooms at Bally's haven't been refurbished and are pretty worn...we've always upgraded to the north tower without a charge but that won't be guaranteed. We wouldn't stay at Flamingo ourselves, but it's probably because we're kinda old farts who actually like a bit of calm to start end end our days. :)

Thanks for your opinion, ferf1223, will bear that in mind!!!!! Can't seem to make my mind up, but there's nothing new there!!!

Hi everyone. Hope you're all ok. Not been on the board for a few weeks due to wedding stuff. Viewed over a dozen venues now and still not sure what on earth I want!! OH happy to do what I want and I don't know whether to go down the Vegas route. We both do love Vegas, and I'm desperate to get back for trip no 4, which will either be for wedding or part of honeymoon.
Who got married in Vegas and where? Trets and Sew - am I right you two were married there (though not to each other :rotfl:) I remember Maggianos being mentioned for dinner - Sew was that you?

Hahah me and the GF have been demented looking round for somewhere up here (newcastle) to get wed and now weve got to the point of just getting up and going to vegas.

I've changed my mind so many times, it's doing my head in. Wanted a late meal only with only one set of guests, now we have a daytime do and night do for extra people. I just wanted something quite relaxed and it's getting a bit silly now and the venue we really really like is so expensive. It's just so much money for one day! We love Vegas and lots of family thought we'd get married there anyway, as it really would suit us. I'm a bit torn, so thought it might help if I knew how other people did it in Vegas.
By the way - I live outside Durham - where have you viewed? lol. It might be on my list as we've now seen 14 places :rotfl:

im from Cumbria the GF is from Redcar so it needs to be in Newcastle so people can travel form both areas. Quite liked the look of Jesmond Dene house but dont know if its big enough.

We get in every night after work and discuss it- then we say we will discuss it further tomorrow and we start the conversation over.

When I seen the prices of the Bellagio wedding packages Vegas looked very appealing!!!!

Sory - not really vegas related everyone :o

You'd never believe our favourite ;). It only holds a max of 100 (80 for cermony of you want it there too), but it's absolutely stunning & expensive! You have to book the 11 rooms around the hall too so not to disturb other people(1 room x 475 quid, 1 x 275 and 9 other at 190 or 198, so it's pricey for guests to stay over too).
