The Secret GardenThanks!!
BTW - I read your report yesterday it was great - I don't know how I managed to miss it initially though.
One last thing - no really this is the last for now - I forgot to mention that U2 will be doing a show in Las Vegas in Sep/Oct as part of the U2 360 Tour.
I'm sure it's in the Sam Boyd Stadium but now can't find the exact date on the U2 website.
It may be of use to someone who is planning a holiday around that time.0 -
All have pools, just that some are nicer than others. What are your main priorities? It might help us give suggestions. Obviously Bellagio is in a different class as you know...I know a few of us agree that without a fountain view (which is more expensive to book or keep fingers crossed for an upgrade) it's not really worth the extra cost to stay at Bellagio...unless it's perhaps a special occasion and you want a treat of staying at a pretty nice hotel...really just depends on what's important to you.
I'm only going to be in Vegas for about 2-3 nights. I will be staying in hostels and camping the rest of the time in california.
As it's Vegas I would like a place with a bit of class and also something that's a bit lively/social particularly as I'm going on my own. I do like the idea of a nice pool, but I'm not a great swimmer and don't have the bod to wanna show it off either. I wouldn't spend all my time in one place, or at the hotel as I'd wanna do/see lots around vegas, so being somewhere near the mains points of interest is ideal.0 -
The Bellagio FountainsIf you are staying for a week then $50 will certainly do the trick for an upgrade to a suite. I would either go for that or slip a twenty and ask for a remodelled strip view room. The non updated rooms there are some of the worst I have seen. They do not do upgrades to Go rooms for tips, you will need to book that properly, usually $30 extra per night , but depending how much the trip is costing you it might be worth the cost. I think the Go rooms are really cool.
I would be happy with a remodelled strip view room, so keep fingers crossed I get someone nice at check-in!! Thanks0 -

If you don't mind telling me, what room did you book orignally, and what was it like???? When were you there???0 -
Anyone have any experience of using the $20 trick in Bellagio, booked standard room 5 nights late May. Was thinking of trying $50 for a complimentary upgrade.0

Dave, you off too? Have a good trip. I last booked with Best at Las Vegas Holidays . They organised a complimentary night -which pleased me no end.
One thing about Las Vegas that I don't find many people discussing is the suburbs. Now I know all of us go there for the glimmer and poshness of it all - a different to anywhere else experience, but I happened to have a friend living in the newly developed suburbs of Vegas and man, it was delighting living in his villa for a couple of days.
I'm seriously thinking of putting in some money for a property in Vegas. Maybe I should delay that, considering state of the British pound sterling.0 -
The Bellagio FountainsFerf...I notice you say you are a dollar express member. Just checked and it is free to join (have to give credit card details tho)is it worth joining even if you rent through a 3rd party or does the rental have to be direct with them?
I'm a Dollar Express member too, and usually rent through a third party. We just go to the Express booth down the escalators and get sorted out there. We have never had a problem.0 -
The Sirens of TII am sure I have read this on here before, the casinos used to be able to count on revenue coming through the doors..What will happen next, the first of the Citycentre hotels open this October.
MGM Mirage, the Strip's biggest casino operator and the state's largest private employer, could be facing a bankruptcy filing if it can't renegotiate better repayment terms with its lenders covering some $7 billion in loans.
In a filing Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company that operates 10 Strip hotel-casinos and is building the $9.1 billion CityCenter said it was discussing waivers or amendments with its lenders.
MGM Mirage said it would be in default under its senior secured credit facility if it cannot negotiate a better repayment structure. The action could filter down and put all of MGM Mirage's debt, which totals roughly $13.5 billion, into default.
In the filing, the company blamed the recession and the steep drop in consumer spending at casinos for its concerns about not being able to make its debt payments.0 -
