We booked a Deluxe room and that's exactly what I got.....my $20 bribe was not accepted infact the woman behind the desk seemed offended I'd offered it and was quite rude and snooty......probably wanted more
The room itself was quite nice....not as big as the one we got in the Tropicana but bigger than the one at the IP.....the bed wasn't as comfy though........nice freebies in the bathroom.
Hell of a hike from the lift to the room though
We were there Nov 2007 and the bloody lagoon pool was shut:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -

I'll try and stay positive. I've booked a Deluxe room aswell. If the room isn't up to scratch, I'm not afraid to complain!! Going end of April, so hope the pool is open! Seems like some of the rooms have been re-modelled, so we might be lucky. Thanks0 -

Decent success rate at Flamingo but obviously as Lorraine found it won't always work...may be worth reading through a bit to see if any details jump out at you to keep in mind when you try it...sometimes I think if you ask for the type of room you want rather than just 'an upgrade' you may have better luck?

The Volcano @ MirageI have had sucess rather than asking for an upgrade but by saying " can you pick me a real nice room" that way you imply that the bribe is not asking for somthing that you are not entitled for the only thing is that if they dont upgrade you then you have a stronger chance of losing your money but hey Vegas is a gambleIts Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0

It will be our first time in Vegas in August.
Do you think an "It's our first time in Vegas" will work when checking in to get us a nice room at PH or will a $20 bribe be needed?0 -

Can anyone offer any advice?
I was looking to fly to Vegas direct but looking at 2 airlines I can fly with ( I have skywards points to trade in ) means I can't fly direct to Vegas. First stop is LA then Vegas, I thought about staying in LA a few days before flying off to Vegas, can anyone recommend LA? I was only thinking about a 2/3 day stopver and 4 days in Vegas and looking to get to Vegas 2nd week of May.
Many Thanks0 -

We did a 3-night stop in LA once (we have friends there so it was a bit different for us, perhaps). We enjoyed it. The best thing we did there was the Warner Brothers VIP Studio Tour...I think it was $40 when we went ($45 now) and was really cool and interesting if you like movies and American TV shows.

We also did Universal Studios theme park and had a good time there. And we really liked a restaurant called Patrick's Roadhouse...we didn't see any celebrities, but apparently we shouldn't have been surprised if we did.

There is a public transportation system of sorts but we had a rental car...my impression is that LA is one of those places it's much more convenient to have a car...though 6 lane (each direction) freeways can look really scary.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
The Bellagio FountainsFerf, you mentioned being in the Dollar priority club and you usually book direct. Is that with Dollar U.K. or U.S.? We always use scrappers to find the best deal, have looked at booking direct before but have trouble adding up all the extras we need(CDW,Taxes, etc) and then it always looks more expensive than booking all inclusive from here. Any info on the best way to go about it would be helpful as the priority thing looks good. I find almost the most stressful part about arriving in Vegas is the line for the car hire. Honest, you can have 3 people in front of you and it could take 45 minutes to get to the car with the clerks trying to sell add ons and the numpties not having the correct documentsThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
