It's only 0.84% rising to 1% in July so nothing like the 2.75% commission on other cards.

Wont affect our trip either well not the Vegas one but it will affect all other holidays I have planned as we usually do DIY and that means paying or accomodation with the debit card when we get there......shame but I suppose with most banks struggling this is nothing

Isnt a cash withdrawal a foreign currency transaction? I dont know but assumed it is.

I just got this from the Nationwide site, under the using your cards abroad section http://www.nationwide.co.uk/search/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=1259

    Cash Machines withdrawals

Nationwide will not charge members for using any cash machines, but the machine provider may make charges over which we have no control

Thanks for that - I hadn't heard that...it won't affect our trip in April but after that...hmmm...may need to look into alternatives.

Same here, won't affect our trip in April, but we've also got Abbey Zero cards which don't charge for foreign transactions (yet!) - although it was such a hassle getting it... I wouldn't exactly recommend it as hassle free!

Very true - still cheaper than most!

    Yay!

We only use ours for cash withdrawals (use the PO CC for hotels, etc).

Though perhaps those T&Cs are due to change with the recent announcement?

Regardless, I do agree that it's a minimal charge compared to some...so maybe it will still be the way to go.

    October - we've been twice...once early, once mid-to-late...

Hi ferf - thanks for the warm welcome :)

I seem to recall that you fly with Virgin to Vegas - is that right?
Approx how much do you usually pay that time of year - if you can remember?

Does anyone else go Oct time possibly out of Manchester - if so, what do you usually pay?
(In June/July its not unusual to pay £1,200 (for 2) for indirect from Manchester - in sales (either BMI or AA) - you can usually get same flights for around £800-£850). Anyone have prior experience for October prices?

Thanks for info RE pools - though, even in June/July I have only ever spent about 1 day (out of 14) enjoying it, so its not that important really.

Hi photome - Thanks a lot for letting me know how you got the lower rate. Are you a big player there? I have my Ruby (is it) card - but theres no points on it. I very rarely play slots - only Craps and Tournament Poker so I dont suppose they would lower the rate for me? I would certainly try though. Thats a great rate - when do you go?

Hi - had a look at last year's flights and looks like we paid £487 on miles plus money which was higher than we'd seen before - we departed on 19th October...we'd previously flown with Virgin mainly in early November and had managed sub-£300 fares with miles+money...though at this point it seems like fares may be coming down again.

That does look like a great deal but does anyone know if it would be cheaper to buy these in the States.
