    Hello everyone,

Just spent a fond hour reading this thread (Ive been avoiding it due to the fact that its highly likely that I wont be going to Vegas this year and as I am sure ALL of you can imagine - its the pitts!!!!!).

I'm the one who normally goes for two weeks during the World Series of Poker in June/July and as me and my OH have decided to cut back this year - it could mean a whole year without vegas.....

    HOWEVER,

I was hoping to price up a week in October in the hope that it would be a bit cheaper than the summer months. SO -

    FLIGHTS
Does anyone regularly visit Vegas in October and, if so, what would you usually expect to pay for flights that time of year? I live in Leeds, so Manchester is my nearest airport and I am easy with the flight being indirect as long as its cheap!!

    HOTELS
Im not too bothered about hotels as our favourite cheapy is The Orleans and if photome is getting a room there at mo for sub $35 then thats that sorted!! Nice one photome! We may stay one night away in the Encore/Wynn but I can live without that as long as I get to see the bright lights this year!!

    WEATHER
I have only ever experienced vegas in June/July which is HOT - so whats October like? Are all the pools closed?

    CONVENTION
There is a 30,000 person convention on at LV Hilton on 5 October to 7 October. Will this have a huge impact on flight/hotel prices? (Our provisional leave is Sun 3/10 to Sun 11/10 - so 7 nights over there during this time.

Heres hoping one of you guys can give me some hints, tips and money saving advice - if I can get it cheaper than our usual trip then there is a slight chance that OH will concede....

Thanks in advance & congrats to all of you heading over to the beautiful city soon!!!!!!!!!

    Welcome back, Steff!

On a few of your points -

October - we've been twice...once early, once mid-to-late...the pools are open (some may start closing at or toward the end of the month)...weather is great for us but varies quite a bit from early to late in the month with the earlier part of the month much warmer than the later -
you can see daily averages here:

    http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/daily/USNV0049?climoMonth=10

A 30,000 person convention won't have a massive impact on room rates - it might at the Hilton, but elsewhere they may be up a bit, but nothing dramatic if anything at all.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Steff I got $25 nights by emailing the casino marketing and asking for a casino rate (with my club coast member number on) and I got weeknights for $25 and weekend for $60.

Luci found one at Bellagio that may be a pricing error (great weekend rates) - back a few pages or so.
ferf - I dont think its an error as such.......the small print on the price calendar says "prices valid for stays of one day only" - depending on the date your stay commences, the price for the date on the calendar may be different eg Sat only may be 100, but when you stay Fri and Sat, the Fri could be 80 and the Sat 90, but stay Thu Fri Sat, and it could be 120 130 140.

I for one never offer advice unless I have experienced it first hand.

I have been to Laughlin and IMO it isnt worth driving 90 miles for.(the speeding ticket didnt help). It maybe worth it if you have been to Vegas a few times, but not on a first visit when there is so much to do and see in Vegas.

    I went for a rodeo.

To save money on a weekend I usually go to the Orleans $60 a night for my weekend coming up in March.

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular.

You are entitled to your opinion - me personally i love the place.

In terms of a first visit i think i might agree with you there (unless one is on a flydrive) however it remains for me to be a worthwhile stop and a well needed few days of recuperation.

Of course...you hadn't read the original conversation to know who had said what (or what the specifics were, including 2 children if memory serves)...you just made a sweeping generalisation on those who post here assuming that if they disagreed with you they must not have any first-hand experience.

Ah - I understand...that's an interesting way to do things. I looked for our dates but didn't work in our favour..maybe another time. :)

    Actually you're wrong.

In terms of disagreeing with me - You just just added that for dramatisation purposes didn't you? Like a sensationalist headline.

    Or just for fun?

Or is it you making unfounded assumptions.
