I have a Advent 4211 (rebadged MSI Wind) and I love it.

I'm so happy to hear that as I just bought one - the Wind, didn't realise the Advent 4211 was a rebadged Wind (how that's possible after all the research I did is anyone's guess!), but the one I ordered has a 160g hard drive and 6-cell battery for just under £300, so I'm happy with that. :)

The best price I found for the one I wanted (Model U100, 160g hard drive, 6 cell battery) was misco.co.uk - 3.5% quidco already validated too. :) They have versions with smaller hard drives but we really wanted the 6 cell battery and some of the specifications didn't state if it was a 3 or a 6 cell. One thing I noticed was that at misco they seem to be cheaper if they are in stock with misco vs. in stock with one of misco's suppliers.

And this picture is from a review I read, shows it next to 2 laptops to give you an idea of size (I'm rubbish at having any idea what certain measurements translate to in the real world).

But I didn't check prices for the Advent 4211 version Morph3us recommended, so may be worth checking that out too.

There's another similar one which is the Samsung NC10 - I think I remember one of the things it had over the Wind was better battery life...they do stock the NC10 at Dixons and Currys and stuff (they didn't have the Wind) and it looked pretty good, but for a few reasons I went with the Wind instead.

As Ferf says, way to early for november deals. Where are you looking for prices? I would forget the Riveria, it is very old with a poor location, you should get prices just as good with a better hotel/location nearer the time

Been looking at a few travel agents, just the adverts in the window and the prices range from 520 to 620 for 7 nights with indirect travel from glasgow. Not sure whether to book now or to wait til later on in the year, are these good deals or not? Other hotels that are available are the luxor and circus circus. Thanks David

From what I understand it's not meant to replace a laptop or desktop computer...it's not got as much power to run things but for our purposes (mainly surfing and checking email while on holiday and possibly movies on a plane) it's perfect...I read zillions of reviews and most people are really happy with it though some were unhappy it doesn't handle streaming video and things like that (haven't tested it myself to know if it does or doesn't)...it also does not have a DVD/CD drive (you can buy one to hook into it but there isn't one onboard). We looked at 13" laptops as well but they're so much more expensive and heavy it didn't make sense for us for what we want it for.

Go into the travel agent, pick some dates, get more info (specific prices, flight details - airline, times, etc) and tell them you would like to think about it...then come home...check the flight prices booking direct with the airline (for the same flights the TA would put you on)...then check the hotel prices booking direct with the hotels offered in the package (understanding that the good hotel deals are some months off).

I would be really wary of booking anything through a TA this far out...last minute, perhaps there are some good deals around...but for November, I would assume you could do it all on your own for less or pay the same and get a better hotel.

That's the main reason for me looking for one.....the weight.I bought the portable DVD player....11" screen and boy is it heavy....we took it to Prague with us as we were going to the airport by train it gave us something to do....my arm was hanging off by the time I got to the hotel with carrying it in hand luggage....it's really heavy.
The other thing is of course it doesn't have internet access and only a 2 hour battery life.
I've seen a few notebooks in Tesco so I'll have a look at them there as I can get my 10% staff discount
I'm going to re-sell the dvd thingy on ebay and see what I can get for it

I have an Asus 900 that I take with me. I also take my laptop to do my website stuff on but for the plane I use the Asus. The original battery only did about 2 hours of video but I bought the upgrade one that lasts a good 4 hours, but on AA flights you have under seat plugs so I just use the airplane power. Put all my films on the memory stick in Divx form, then play them on the Divx player on the netbook. Also able to read a book as well if I want, and play Bejeweled and solitare, as well as edit any photos we take on holiday so that I don't have to do it when we get home.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
