And just one more question.I'm seriously considering buying an ARCHOS 7 just incase the seatback entertainment doesn't work. This gives you 10 hours of video playback
I have a portable dvd player but that only has 2 hours of play....even with an additional battery that would only give me 4 hours.
I know the ARCHOS 5 gives you 7 hours of play and you can get a battery life extender thingy wich will give you extra.
How many films would I be able to store on say a 120gb

Be sure you know the cost of all the plug-ins and extra kit you will need for the Archos 7...my husband is currently trying to decide if he wants to buy the 7 or not...he's put off by all the add-ons he'll need and the reviews about poor customer service...he really, really wants this thing but he's hesitating about it the more research that he does.

I know some folks on here have other Archos models and can maybe give you an idea what you'll need in terms of plug-ins and the price...and I know people here love theirs - it's just the 7 that my husband is wary of because it's pretty expensive relative to other similar models out there.

Also, are you sure the 7 hour battery time is playing movies and not just listening to music? It sounds a bit high.

I've been on several comparison sites since my post and almost all ahve both positive and negative feedback for the 7
Mostly the gripe is the aditional weight in comparison to the 5 plus loss of clarity on some video playback
I may go for the Achos 5 with additional power pack
my neighbour has a 60gb one so I'm going to have a borrow before I buy

I know it's not what you're after really, but while my husband's currently debating the Archos 7, I'm thinking about an MSI Wind which is a netbook...battery life would be an issue for watching movies on a plane, yes, but I'm thinking my potential purchase will do everything his potential purchase will (except record from TV if he buys the DVR dock) and mine will have a keyboard, etc so will be nice to have in the hotel room for surfing and checking email, online check-in for flights, etc...and mine is £100 cheaper even before Archos add-ons, though it's obviously bigger. :)

Has anyone stayed at the Riviera? Been looking at various deals and it always comes out cheapest. Went in there once when i was last there but have no idea what the facilities and rooms are like.

You can see loads and loads of pictures on tripadvisor (beware though as some rooms have been renovated and others haven't, so be sure to look through a few to get an idea of the difference - the first few pages are obviously renovated rooms when you get to the others).

Are you going in November? If so, it's way too early for the best deals to be out for November...though there's a massive convention in town the 3rd to the 6th (which we'll be avoiding). :)

Was just about to suggest the very same thing....

I have a Advent 4211 (rebadged MSI Wind) and I love it. Cost me £210 ish.

Battery is only 2 hours but you can get a 9 cell from ebay for £40 / £50 which will run for 6 - 8 hours.

As you say, will do all the Archos can do and loads more (except record from TV but downloads are quick and easy anyway).

Worth considering I would say, LMK if you need any more info.

As Ferf says, way to early for november deals. Where are you looking for prices? I would forget the Riveria, it is very old with a poor location, you should get prices just as good with a better hotel/location nearer the time
