The Secret GardenLOL for me it woudl be MGM Grand but as I said the quality of the rooms is higher at the sig but location takes it away for me
I stayed at the MGM last year and loved the place, I went hell for leather trying to see anything in Vegas and almost killed myself!! This time i'm going with the intention of chilling and take it easy so opted for the Signature at a good price. Certainly wouldn't be able to afford it normally:rotfl: .

any feelings? i know includes a kitchen but that doesn't bother me too much......is it within the mgm complex or seperate and off the strip?
As has been said, the Signature is a considerable step up from the Grand Tower room at MGM. It is currently the No1 hotel voted for by members of Trip Advisor.
Apparently it's approx a 7-8 mins walk to the MGM, but as it is on Harmon we are intending heading in that direction and coming out at Planet Hollywood, unless of course we are heading south strip.
I am really pleased with my $89 rate as, when I checked rates before, they usually started at $179.0 -

Looking to book the Platinum Suites for the 6 nights we're there but not finding many offers. Guess its because its not a resort hotel. Not a big problem but wonder if i'm likely to see any offers for this hotel over the next few weeks or should i just book now?
Also, looking at taking in a show. Tom Jones is one we're considering along with Beatles Love. Not interested in the magic or comedy shows particularly but open to any other recommendations.
Long time reader of this thread, so got a huge list of things to see and do. Just got to narrow it down to a list which won't take a suitcase all of its own
Hard luck on having to fly with Virgin;) You did the right thing though by getting premium economy on the way back. If you can see your booking on the VS site make sure you pick seats upstairs in the bubble.
As for Platinum, we have stayed there twice so I can give you some info.
Firstly there are really never any deals for them around. When they first opened you could get some really good prices, but now they are high end, but saying that, it is a high end hotel. The suites are fantastic, easily as nice as the Signature. It is about a 10 minute walk form there to Ballys, the route looks kinda rough but we never had any trouble. If you need to get a cab anywhere you are in for a long wait. The valet flags them down for you but none of the cabs go that far down Flamingo so there is a hell of a wait, and when you do get one it costs you $5 to get back to where you started. The cab has to turn right out of the entrance and go quite a way down the road till it can turn back around and go West again. If you have a car there is compulsory valet parking, so you have to tip every time you want to get your car out.
Mind you do have Ellis Island just around the corner, so that is dinner sorted every day:TThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Luci, that is indeed a fantastic rate for the signature, nice one:TThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. The Bellagio FountainsAn update on my Signature rate. I rebooked at $89 late last night when I went through the TravelZoo link and found the reduced rate.
However the Signature offer seems to have disappeared from TravelZoo today so I got in just in time.0 -
The Bellagio FountainsI know the Paris link has been posted before by nvh, but don't remember seeing the landing page for all the hotels in Vegas before - apologies if this is a duplicate.
Friends and Family rates for all HET Vegas hotels here...includes Paris, Bally's, Rio, Caesars, Flamingo, Harrahs and Imperial Palace.

Dates to end July 2009.
I haven't checked to see if these mirror the LCI rates as they sometimes do at the Paris link that nvh has posted before but worth checking.
OK, now I have done a quick comparison and the F&F is coming up less than LCI for rooms at Caesars the random dates that I've checked - so well worth looking at.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Is there a reason you want the Platinum suites? For your first trip I would recomend staying on the strip in a resort hotel to get the Vegas feeling. Never seen any offers for it.
Thanks for the heads up on Tom Jones. Anyone know any offers for tickets for TJ.
We're thinking of the Platinum as its a delayed honeymoon so wanted something a little bit special but for various reasons can't stretch the budget quite to Bellagio prices (although I am still on the lookout in the hope something will come up) and Platinum looked like a nice compromise. Still looking at others though, ideally mid-strip, especially after Stoneman's comments. Stoneman, thanks for the heads up. Well worth considering the taxi issue as i'm sure we'll be using a few. When you say that the route looks rough, are you meaning the route to the strip runs through a dodgy neighbourhood or a building site?
couldn't pre-book the premium seats when booking but managed to book seats for going out. Will look into the bubble seats.0 -

Maybe check your dates at the Friends and Family link I just posted for Caesars - the Augustus Tower is said to be fantastic (others here will give first hand knowledge) and we thought that the Palace Tower was pretty darn nice too - room was huge...I don't know what sort of prices Platinum goes for but Caesars is a nice property and smack bang in the middle of the strip - so a better location. The walk from Platinum may look a bit rough like stoneman said but we also have never had any problems making the trek to Ellis Island and back either...just that it might take away from the specialness of the room once you walk outside?
OK, just realised you said end of March which may be expensive due to March Madness...Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

not sure if it's interesting or not - but some of the units are condos, so are available to rent through the owner...not sure if the rates will be better or worse than what you're seeing on the hotel side.
