So I guess what I'm saying is - do we have anyone here prepared to do a nightlife piece for page 1? If not can anyone recommend places for us to go - ideal is a club where OH can have a dance and I can enjoy the view of Vegas without it being pretentious and over-rated. I'm guessing that ideal doesn't exist so a fair smattering of opinions on options - places where might be good to fulfil each individual requirement would be great.
A couple of years ago we went to Mix @ Mandalay Bay - was a monday night so free to get in (8pm'ish) and turned to bottle service @ 9:30'ish for the good seats

liked it up there - wasn't too arsey and to be honest, you have to go just for the view from the toilets!!

think it's on the 60'ish floor up (top floor) so cracking views like this one:

edit: wow - found some great pics going back thru the old thread (looking for the one above i'd taken previously)... love this pic:

Yes it is. Original booking was with MGM/Signature, but last 2 rates have been with LSI.

Finally in a position to book our much delayed first visit. Flights with Virgin (yes i know not the best, but direct both ways, and premium economy on the way back) booked for the end of March. Can't wait. :j

Looking to book the Platinum Suites for the 6 nights we're there but not finding many offers. Guess its because its not a resort hotel. Not a big problem but wonder if i'm likely to see any offers for this hotel over the next few weeks or should i just book now?

Also, looking at taking in a show. Tom Jones is one we're considering along with Beatles Love. Not interested in the magic or comedy shows particularly but open to any other recommendations.

Long time reader of this thread, so got a huge list of things to see and do. Just got to narrow it down to a list which won't take a suitcase all of its own :D

Is there a reason you want the Platinum suites? For your first trip I would recomend staying on the strip in a resort hotel to get the Vegas feeling. Never seen any offers for it.

Thanks for the heads up on Tom Jones. Anyone know any offers for tickets for TJ.

    The Sirens of TI
    Discounts

The letter I have is from Marilyn Wynn, - president Bally's Rio etc
So PM me for a copy, the following is for upto 4 tickets

Penn & Teller for $37.50 code PNTPC

Jubilee for $35 each and free upgrade PLJUB

But please PM and I will send you a copy of the letter, it is specific that you have to present this letter at the Box Office.

This letter is not specific to me so don't worry, this is for all guests of Bally's a couple of my US collegues used a copy last week for the discounts they only want a copy of the letter at the box office, no other details! (Think they want to get bums on seats)

    (Blackout dates may Apply!)

Thanks Luci! I had a read through...the TR desk closing is clearly new, but I think that the slots thing may be a matter of people not having been for awhile as the whole WOF/IGT thing happened some time ago...so hopefully there hasn't been any further developments on that front. It won't be tragic for us if there are as we can go any number of other places nearby if we aren't happy with Bally's slot selection, but it's nice to have a few favorites at home base for first thing in the morning and last at night. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

This might be a bizarre question, but does any casino in vegas have traditional slot machines where you can win cash straight out of them? I unerstood most of them are credits now..

and are there any ones like the UK that arnt fruit machines as such but have like layers of coins and stuff? traditional ones i suppose we call them in the UK

bizarre question and think the answer is no but thought i would ask :)

    Funkyfin,

Errr yes, the Signature Junior suite is a definite step up!!

The Signature is apart from the MGM Grand, round the back. Its about a ten minutes walk to the strip (though I haven't tried it yet, still4 1/2 weeks to go!!). Have a look at hotels on Trip Advisor, the Signature is number 1 at the moment. Well worth the cost if you ask me.

Thanks Stew, interesting.....will see if an upgrade to that is worth it, its quite a bit more than what i paid for a grand tower room tbh! And i like the idea of being in a hotel directly near the strip...

guess parking might be easier if off the strip tho!
