Well I fly out to Vegas this Saturday and I am still trying to organise my clothes due to being so confused about the weather. Originally I was going to take skirts and vest type tops for the day and long trousers/jeans for evening due to the climate. However, after keeping an eye on the forecasts the past couple of weeks I then changed to long sleeves and jumpers for the day due to seeing that it was only about 9oC. However, I am now thinking that perhaps the humidity may make it actually feel warmer than it actually is. Any help? I normally feel the cold - I tend to change into jeans when eating in the restaurants in the US due to the air conditioning!! For those just back or have been before does it actually feel warmer than it is due to humidity etc.
Also from the second post has anyone used any of the companies for the helicopter tours? I am wanting to do the one which touches down in the Grand Canyon, but there seems to be mixed reviews and prices....so any recommendations would be appreciated.
Well I think that I have rambled enough
    Thanks

The forecast is calling for a lot warmer weather than 9C in the daytime.

Vegas is not very humid at all generally so I would not think that that would impact how it feels to you...perhaps bring a selection of things you can layer? It's usually quite cool in the casinos regardless of the temp outside.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Aw, think I'll be having my birthday dinner at either the Eiffel Tower Restaurant or Mon Ami Gabi when you are searching for clues!

I am intending booking it for the first Sunday afternoon we are there which I think is 26 April.

That's going to be annoying if it's an ongoing thing but glad I know to expect it so I will be prepared! As for the slots, is this a recent thing? They removed some middle of last year so I hope they haven't taken out more. :(

If I come across the topic again I'll post a link. I think it was on TA and it moves so fast I may have a problem finding it.
  • Finally in a position to book our much delayed first visit. Flights with Virgin (yes i know not the best, but direct both ways, and premium economy on the way back) booked for the end of March. Can't wait. :j

Looking to book the Platinum Suites for the 6 nights we're there but not finding many offers. Guess its because its not a resort hotel. Not a big problem but wonder if i'm likely to see any offers for this hotel over the next few weeks or should i just book now?

Also, looking at taking in a show. Tom Jones is one we're considering along with Beatles Love. Not interested in the magic or comedy shows particularly but open to any other recommendations.

Long time reader of this thread, so got a huge list of things to see and do. Just got to narrow it down to a list which won't take a suitcase all of its own :D

  • Hi again all,

on the first page trets says that nightlife isn't an area of expertise, BUT - is it for anyone else?

I know most of it is personal opinion but the couple of reviews I've read for the two places I've heard of (Voodoo Lounge and Ghost) say they're over-rated and expensive. I'm not that fussed but the other half likes a good club and a bit of dancing. We're both early 30's (just at 32 for another 3 weeks and 33 for another month), I like the idea of a nice view over the strip.

So I guess what I'm saying is - do we have anyone here prepared to do a nightlife piece for page 1? If not can anyone recommend places for us to go - ideal is a club where OH can have a dance and I can enjoy the view of Vegas without it being pretentious and over-rated. I'm guessing that ideal doesn't exist so a fair smattering of opinions on options - places where might be good to fulfil each individual requirement would be great.

    Cheers
    Mart

As long as you book direct with the hotel, if you see a lower rate just call them and have the rate adjusted. I have just done that this minute for the second time. I originally had the Signature at $129, then $109 and tonight got it at $89.

You are lucky that Tom Jones is playing while you are there as he is on for a few weeks then disappears for a couple of months. We have seen him twice and really enjoyed it. Seeing him for the 3rd time in May.

We also enjoyed Love. I have read that you can get 50% off if you go direct to the box office.

Another good and cheap show is the Fab Four at the V Theater in the Miracle Mile shops as you can get it half price at Tix4Tonight.
