I have no idea what rates are at Platinum, maybe you could post the rates you are getting and we could all look for same/similar rates at one of the good strip properties.

Platinum is looking at about £550 for 6 nights at the moment incl taxes. Thats through a couple of websites. Strangely seems to be even more when booking direct (state taxes?)

Whats the deal with March Madness? Didn't realise the end of March would be anything special in terms of how busy Vegas is but saw it mentioned on a site last night and then again here. Not heard any mention of it previously and i've trawled Vegas threads on various sites for months (guess i've not been looking out for it).

Checked the friends and family but its coming in way over £1k for the 6 nights. Going to keep an eye on MGM Signature rates too as that might be an option (cheapest is about £650 for the 6 nights at the moment).

Thanks for all the input folks. Its a great help.

It refers to the NCAA basketball championships (US universities).
    Here's some dates:

There will be big events/parties, etc. around the games - it's not held in Vegas, but it's a big time for Vegas as loads of people come from all over the place to party and gamble in line with the games which you won't be able to miss as they will be all over every television set you pass. :)

Just be aware on game days and thereabouts that queues for restaurants and clubs will likely be a lot longer than normal so book where you can or go at off times...if you have any cause to step into any sports books be prepared for it to be a bit chaotic (have read of people sleeping there overnight to get a seat for the games the next day!)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Touche!!!:rotfl:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

EI have a bank of coin out slots near the cashier booth, did last September anyway, but the rate those ticket out machines have poped up, it could have changed now.

That is a really good rate for the Platinum, it really is a great place. Smoke free, they treat you really well, and they almost always upgrade you to a nicer suite when you check-in. Unlike the Signature there are no studios at the Platinum, all are either 1 or 2 bed suites with a balcony. There is a work around the taxi thing. You can walk across the street to the Westin, you are then West of Koval so more chance of a cab, and heading west as well. Just get a cab from their rank.
The area is just a little run down that's all, comes as a bit of a shock after all the glitz you have left behind. We have always felt very safe in Vegas, far safer than anywhere else we have ever been.
As for flying direct or changing. We prefer to change because we like American carriers, they tend to all use planes with a 2 seat configuration so you don't get anyone sitting next to you that you don't know, and the seats always seem that bit bigger and softer. We also don't mind getting off after 7 hours to stretch our legs, and the longest we have had to wait between connections is about 2 hours, which is not very long.

"WASHINGTON (AFP) — Trump Entertainment Resorts, US magnate Donald Trump's casino group, said Tuesday it had filed for bankruptcy protection to cope with a "strained" economic environment.
Trump Entertainment Resorts, which own and operates three casinos in the Atlantic City, New Jersey area, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a New Jersey Court to allow the company to pursue a restructuring to avoid collapse."

Oops! He doesn't have any casinos out west but you just have to look at the rates in LV to know the same is going to happen to some ot west. Anybody know the latest on the Sands (Venetian etc)... there was a lot of talk about Chapter 11 a few months ago.
