Thanks Ferf1223 seems like I get comp'd for most of the stay

    I learn something everyday....

(And less just say the balance on my card is nothing as I hardly gamble in Harrah's mostly in MGM, my Harrah's balance is just over 100 which can be achieved very easily)

The balance on your card (total rewards credits) will be irrelevant...what's important is your tier score...but even then, that resets at the end of each calendar year so can be 0 and you can still get comped nights...and lately, even those with minimal play may qualify for comped or reduced nights.

Harrahs is kinder to slot players, MGM is kinder to table players...so for minimal slot play Harrahs can offer some really good deals.

One other nice thing about a partially comped stay is that if your first night is comped, they don't even take a deposit when you book.

    Congrats on your comps. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    WARNING

The Paris friends and family link I posted earlier (https://www.harrahs.com/MakeReservation.do?propCode=PLV&packageCode=IPFNF) takes the full price as deposit!

(we decided to stay an extra night in Vegas instead of stomping off to Zion, so cancelled our LCI deal, and rebooked under the 'friends and family' (to save any possible hassle))

I just flew thru the booking and on the confirmation page noticed it said the full amount as deposit - just checked credit card and they've taken the full $330

doesn't cause us any bother but worth a heads up especially as it doesn't appear to be written anywhere! :) (T&C wording indicates it's still 'cancellable' 72hrs up front... for what its worth!)

Good post. It always amazes me when the question is asked, that we get the upgrades/gold/platinum responses. The vast majority who ask on here will never fly anything other than economy.

    .

I don't see why you connect the two.
Plenty of flyers with elite status only fly maybe two.three times a year and always pay for economy. The only time I get to see a first class cabin is free upgrades as a result of having the cards (and some luck)
You "only" need to fly 25K miles to get status which for many is two trips from UK to Vegas (flying indirect) it's just a case of if you're prepared to put all your eggs in one basket and stick to one alliance.

I think the point is, the people who ask about direct/indirect flights are not likely to be the regular transatlantic flyers, therefore have almost no chance of getting status. The best one I've seen was Stoneman's AA suggestion, which only required a single trip to Vegas to get some sort of status.

As for us, the thought of extending our journey by another 4-5 hours by flying indirect seems crazy, unless it's like half price. This will all become irrelevent though when BMI stop the direct flights from MAN, we'll have no option !!

You can buy status for $349 with United this gives you and a travelling companion upgrade to Economy Plus free every time you fly you book the upgrade when you book your flight. For me its not about the time in the air its about the space whilst economy plus is not a true premium economy class you get 5" extra legroom, albeit in the same type of seat. Virgin is the most cramped transatlantic flight I have had in coach I would rather have more space and a longer journey time and you get to clear immigration where you first land so you can discount the time it takes to clear immigration at McCarran off of the total journey time.
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

Is that 2 trips a year or 2 trips over an extended period...most people dont get to go twice a year.

Ting tong,s reply hit the nail on the head. If people are asking, they have probably never been transatalantic before and This site is all about moneysaving and this thread (IMO) was set up to help people go to Vegas on a budget.

I certainly do Vegas on a budget as I have no choice, and the more people I can help get to Vegas on a budget the happier I am.

I know everyones interpretation of a budget is different. Mine is flights for around £300 and rooms for an average of $70 to $100 a night.

My ten nights this time are adding up to $710 at the moment which includes 3 nights at Mandaly Bay.

I always have enough 2 for 1 coupons to never pay full price for buffets..anyway I am rambling now.

great... guess who's on NWA in a month or so!!!

on the whole direct / indirect, the above will be our first indirect... i prefer direct as i just like to get the whole 'travel' thing out of the way... to be honest it just bores me! :) so will be good to see how it compares --- not sure i'll like it being dragged out but the flights were cheap as chips so worth the sacrifice!

re:dodge charger - was it nice photome? or are they really basic? (and how was the magnum stoneman?)

I liked it even though it was a bit basic, but I loved to look at it (a bit sad maybe) as I love the old american muscle cars, and this is a close as you can get other than a Mustang which are a lot more cash to hire.

I had the Chrysler 300 the year before which was also good to look at but the boot space is poor.

I have booked another Charger for this year.

Nvh the whole thing around NWA centres around old planes, or seem to be old, never been on one yet when the entertainment system works straight away, they have always got to re-boot the system which takes time, and of course some idiot on the plane tries to hit a butten when they are rebooting which takes longer.

Food, my god the worst I have ever tried to eat, and yes i have complained.

Flight last week was wonderful to the fact I had three middle seats to myself so had a good sleep, so didn't use the entertainment system and did not eat the food.

But this is my opinion and others had said they liked the experience.

I hope you have a better opinion of the airline, let me know your thoughts when you come back.
