SAHM's getting organised in 2009!

Hi everyone
Have been too busy to post properly but house is just about liveable at the moment and I seem to be better at ignoring the mess (!) and playing with the boys inspite of it!!!That's Numberwang!0 -
Sorry guys, this isn't strictly about getting organised (but kind of is) and it may turn into a rant....apologies in advance!
Bit of back story - we moved here in May last year, registered with a doctors surgery and expected everything to run smoothly....
I've just been on the phone to them as all the children in DDs class have had their pre-school boosters, but we have yet to be called....
So, I thought I'd better chase this up (this is not the first time I've tried). After phoning the health visitors office, being told 'HVs don't deal with this any more' and being put on hold....bouncing back to the HV secretary (who I had to explain the story to again...)...I was finally passed through to the rudest person imaginable so that I could make an appointment.
I explained again why I was calling, that I'd been put through by HV secretary. I was then placed on 'hold', where I could hear everything that was being said - lots of muttering, etc etc. Perhaps I caught her at going home time....
I finally got an appointment for March 12....she asked for DDs name, then paused - I thought to confirm time/date....nothing, so I confirmed. Yes, she said, that's yours....and hung up .
I'm really annoyed right now. Once I've had this baby, I'm registering us with a different surgery. This is the latest in a long line of problems we've had with them and quite honestly, I'm not happy - I don't even know who my daughter's HV is as no-one has bothered to contact us. It doesn't bode well for when junior arrives. The only good thing that has come out of being registered there is my midwife, who is fantastic....and who is the only reason why I've not changed doctor sooner.
Right, sorry about that, just had to get it off my chest....what's the point of having an immunisation recall system that your child just isn't on?
Apart from that, things have been going great here, I'm still as disorganised as ever, but have at least I can hold my head above the water now as I'm getting through my dailies on a, well, daily basis! Other things are coming along quite well too - the odd piles of things that accumulate are being dealt with and we're freecycling/charity shopping things as we sort them out.
Hope everyone is doing well, good to see people posting again.
Take care all

DD is up coughing, prob starting with a cold
. I thought her eyes were looking a bit "fluey" yesterday and she was a bit grumpy for a while after nursery which isn't like her at all, she soon picked up when I took her for a surprise visit to Maccy D's
.
Ishtar - that's terrible about the HV situation! The only thing I can suggest is how about saying something to your midwife? My MW and HV paths cross, they have offices in the same clinic, surely she would be able to kick somebody up the bum? Waiting until March 12 especially when when your due date is not too far after that is just not acceptable. Sending you virtual hugs :grouphug:0 -
Girl least likely to, we have all had the cold, we seem to pass it round in a huge circle, youngest DS has it again but refuses to take cough mixture, he will take Calpol (which he calls Baby Annabel!) so thought I'd be fly and mix the cough mixture and Calpol together on the spoon, needless to say none of it ended up in house mouth and most of it ended up over me.
Ishtar- thats awful about your DD's jabs, is there not a practise manager that you could complain to?
Need to go to work now, going to do a to do list while I am on the bus for the next few days while I am off.0 -
Hiya! I was just thinking that I really liked the daily tasks, but it's a bit unfair to expect lala to do them all for us. How about if we all do them, if your first on and can be bothered post a task in blue! If two people cross post we can choose which one to do- or do both
I'll start: Organise your shoe cupboard- get rid of any too worn, or not fitting (children's or in my case pregnancy has made my feet bigger!) If you have time, polish any that need it.0 -
fernliebee - sounds like a good idea then if anybody has any ideas they can post them! I like to see a task as then im more likely to do it!!
I will sort out my shoe rack today and get it all sorted....
Im feeling so ill at the moe - just a cold fluey things.....feel rooten and dh is of work as he is bad aswell. And i have to go to a toddler group i run later as im not sure one of the other ladies will be there as she only has two weeks left till her baby is due... will have to stay away from all the kiddies so i dont make them poorly!! So the house is not getting as much attention and also dds are not getting as much fun playing time but i am trying to make a point to do a little play or tidy as and when i can so things dont get to bad and dd doesnt get to board.....
Ishtar - thats horrible how rude they were to you!! I would of thought the HV would of helped to organise it for you, my dds were done by our HV....
anyway better get of here!! chat soon....GC: Nov: £60.22/£450 Oct: £338.48/£450, July: £363.05/£450, June £447.98/£500£2 savers No68: £104/£100 :j:jmummy to: 8yr, 5yr, 3yr, 2yr, 1yr. No6 Due Mar 2013 My world.:j0 -
Thanks for listening to my rant yesterday!
Girl Least Likely To: Thank you for the hugs....probably need them at the moment - pregnancy hormones being as they are. Yes, I'm planning to say something to my midwife - I'm seeing her on Monday. I'm not sure that now would be the best time to change practices, even if I could keep my midwife. I'm probably going to have to bide my time, I think.
2BoysMum: I will be finding out who the Practice Manager is and dropping them a letter. I looked up their complaints procedure...apparently you have to put it in the comments/suggestions box. Never heard anything so daft in all my life. Needless to say, I'll not be putting anything in there!
Mummy2mygirls: That's what I thought, where we were before the HVs did everything like that. All immunisation appointments were requested by the HV team. Not sure why DD (and to some extent OH and I) have fallen between the cracks....
I think I can safely say that I have never had the phone put down on me before. I used to be a PA (and for a time I worked as a listening volunteer with the Samaritans), so I think - and I've been told - that my telephone manner is pretty good.
Anyway, I'm going to try not to dwell on it too much...I'll draft a letter to the Practice Manager and see where we go from there. We've had a result in that we've finally managed to arrange DDs jabs.
Thanks again....I'm off to collect DD from playgroup, but will be back later to update.

 Morning ladies
Up earlier than normal this morning due to DD's cough, cough, coughing. She's scooting round the living room on her scooter atm  . She said last night her ear was a bit sore so we shall be visiting the docs later. She says she'll be asking for apple flavoured medicine instead of the horrible banana stuff she got last time she had an ear infection:rotfl:.
Yesterday was spent playing at home including making a get well soon for DD's gran. I managed to keep the dailies ticking over especially whilst 'wow wow wubzy' was on, that never fails to brainwash any kid. The only thing I've not done is hoover round as DD hates it, it can keep.........
Hope you feel better soon mummy2mygirls and thanks for the medicine tip 2boysmum although does any cough medicine actually work. Sometimes I find honey works better but not much is working atm, I live in hope  .
Hugs to all that need them :grouphug:0 -
Morning everyone, woke up this morning full of the cold, feel rotten so don't think i'll be doing much today. Made some lovely soup last night so going to snuggle up on the couch with a book and some soup and try and shift this cold so I can try and get some stuff done tomorrow. Why do you always get sick when you have lots to do?0
