  • We are looking into it Sarah. We have no clue why you were charged. Bruff, would be very interested to hear if you got charged as well and what type of Paypal account you have. There seems to be a trend developing.
  • Yes I was charged $12 but I expected that - they always take around 5% in my experience.
  • Yes paypal always take a fee. It can either be charged to the person sending the money or it will be deducted from the receiver's money at their end. Generally it's the latter.

That's not true. It's true of ebay purchases, that paypal take a fee when you use them to accept payment. But when I get paid by Slice the Pie into my paypal account, paypal doesn't take a cut. I just checked.

How odd. Perhaps those are deducted at source? I know that all payments I've had sent to me via paypal (not just ebay but other payments or friends paying back loans) have had a fee taken out straight away :(

Perhaps it depends on what type of account is held.

I've signed up and made a potential $11.50 since last night - does anyone know when this will get confirmed? Do you have to earn a certain amount before you can request to be paid?
  • Hi quick question

Is this site still accepting new reviews ? i haven't written any yet but was thinking about starting to write some tonight :D

Oh and bruffyboy will you still keep reviewing for the site ?

    Thanks for your help
  • I've found that to avoid a fee at BOTH ends, you should send it as a gift! Never had charges either end that way :)

My friend, who stays quite a bit away from me, was quite strapped for cash in November- so I said I would send him some. As he was in desperate need- to get baby's nappies ets, the quickest way to do it was via PayPal. When I sent him £200 (as a gift) PayPal took quite a chunk out of it  (around £18 or so) which I was notfied of before I sent it- so I just chose to pay the fee myself.

Yes the same thing happened to me when my boyfriend sent me some money via paypal last month to pay the bills that I couldn't afford to pay. He sent it as a gift but a percentage (quite a big one) was taken out as a paypal fee.
